  1. How does that ball stay in the yard. Ughhh.
  2. Cause he can't still learn and develop this year??
  3. He's still developing. Remember where Burnes and Peralta were their second years...
  4. Exactly. And I thought we had moved on from these sorts of bizarre replay overturns.
  5. Considering how he's going to be on the older side when he hits free agency as you state, I think this might work out for both parties. Brewers don't have to quite meet the usual market rate for an elite starting pitcher, and Woodruff gets the life-changing money right now while he's in prime form. This offseason is going to be the time to get this done imo.
  6. Nice velo from Freddy. Very encouraging health-wise.
  7. Not as big of a long shot as it was at the start of the weekend. Up to 45% playoff probability on 538, for example. Just have to keep winning and let the chips fall where they may.
  8. Can you just do a preemptive rag on everybody on this team?
  9. We're still technically in the playoff hunt, so yes. And I trust that the Brewers appreciate how important Peralta is to this franchise's future that they wouldn't bring him back if there was a serious chance he would further injure himself.
  10. It's actually good we're chasing the Padres now, as they have the more difficult schedule remaining.
  11. It is because it's still based on ERA which doesn't take batted-ball luck, defense, etc. into account. And you're the person that thinks xFIP and SIERA are exclusively predictive stats and say nothing about the actual quality of a pitcher. https://medium.com/ro-baseball/earned-run-average-is-a-bad-statistic-and-should-be-retired-97e4c9feaf5f#:~:text=There's only one problem%3A there, completely out of their control.
  12. I actually did. And solely relying on ERA to make that argument when their underlying numbers are mostly identical to last season doesn't convince me that "sucky" is the correct adjective to use here.
  13. I still wouldn't use the word "suck" to describe any aspect of Woodruff's season.
  14. Again, our big 3 was never going to repeat their dominance from last year. And if you're going to classify Woodruff's season in particular as "sucky", then you're not living in reality. ERA is such a bad stat, too. Woodruff and Peralta's underlying numbers are actually quite similar to last year.
  15. It was still a hit to the overall pitching depth, though. Made Small the next man up, and he didn't prove to be up for the job.
  16. Huh? Woodruff and Peralta haven't sucked....It was always going to be hard for our big three to be as dominant as they were last year.
  17. Don't think I was responding to you, FWIW. But I agree. The Brewers didn't have enough quality pitching depth to overcome the injuries this year. We were depending on a guy like Small to be ready when called upon. Instead, he was ineffective when called up and then completely lost it in AAA. We also didn't sign anyone to account for the loss of Brett Anderson. For all his faults, he was still quite effective when healthy.
