  1. I keep shifting between keeping him on the roster for his defense and DFA. Probably back on the DFA train after watching that pathetic attempt.
  2. We have Jace Peterson. But he's not really any better than Hiura against LHP. If Adames were healthy, you'd probably see Urias there and Brosseau at 3rd.
  3. Ace Lauer made an appearance for the last two outs there. Hopefully he stays for the next five innings.
  4. Speaking of Wong, if he's not available by tomorrow, I would seriously consider putting him on the IL and bringing up Turang. Turang has spent more than enough time at AAA and deserves an opportunity. Also, with our recent injury issues, we can't afford to be stashing guys on the active roster while we wait for them to heal up.
  5. This argument doesn't really work today, considering Wong is unavailable after being HBP in last night's game.
  6. Alexander is with the team. I don't believe Lindblom is.
  7. Agree wholeheartedly on all counts. Just goes to show how we're lucky enough to be able to watch the best (healthy) starting pitcher and relief pitcher in all of baseball on a regular basis. When you consider our history of developing pitchers, it's all the more remarkable.

  9. Notice I said that Cain may still have a place on this team as an occasional starter/late-inning defensive replacement. That means I agree that Taylor should get the lion's share of starting opportunities in CF, which he has absolutely earned. My comments were strictly about remaining on the team, as opposed to being DFA'd, where it looked like things were heading for quite awhile.
  10. This is as it should be. It’s just the way things were trending it was looking like the Brewers were going to eventually have no choice but to DFA Cain. Now, I’m of the opinion that, if he can continue to hit like he has been recently (which obviously isn’t anything to write home about), he can probably still find a way to carve out a lesser role on this team with his defense.
  11. No doubt there’s room for improvement on offense, but we did score 8 runs yesterday with Mikolas starting and 7 this afternoon. Also, this has been with arguably our two best hitters on the IL for the past week. I’m only asking because I was told that the Brewers were not nearly as good as their record indicated due to the fact that they've only played "bad teams" and that they’d be lucky to survive this grueling 11 game 10 day road trip against mostly "good" teams in first place. All they’ve done with two games to go is increase their lead in the division and set a new season high in games over 500….
  12. These two don’t count right? Cause the Cubs are a “bad” team…
  13. Had to do a double take when scrolling through baseball reference today. Lorenzo Cain's offensive "eruption" yesterday now has him in positive WAR territory, 0.3 to be exact. I think that speaks to the value he still possesses with the glove, which is important at a cornerstone defensive position such as centerfield. So, if he can build on yesterday and not revert back to hitting like Ben Sheets, I think he still has a place on this team as an occasional starter/late-inning defensive replacement.
  14. In other news, Paul Goldschmidt has homered once again to put the Cards up 5-2. Makes what Corbin Burnes did yesterday all the more remarkable.
  15. Agreed. I think, despite it being incredibly unlikely, if Josh went the entire season without allowing a run or set the major league record for most consecutive scoreless innings, he would get serious consideration. Josh's main "problem" right now is his teammate and good friend, Corbin Burnes.
