Thanks Jim! It sounds awesome, and we are really excited. They are putting us up at the Renezvous Grand Hotel, which is supposed to be centrally located and near a MRT stop. We are fairly adventurous eaters, with my wife also being a seafood fanatic.

I'm doing an international residency in Singapore next May as part of my Masters Degree. I'll be there for a week, and my wife will be travelling with me. Any recommendations on restaurants, things to see, things to avoid?

I would agree with the $100 ballpark. Team balls from a team that didn't win anything don't hold a ton of value, really depends on the star signatures. Braun would be the money signature. The quality/location of his autograph could affect value. Really team balls like this only are of exceeding value if there are multiple HOF players, or a player who passes at a very early age.

I think he'll be a punchline on Leno for about a week, and then people will go back to not caring. I'm not sure this news was a surprise to anyone. I agree, he seems like a total jerk, and I agree that he's raised enough money and done enough good to earn my apathy. -
There isn't that much future to trade away with this team. I don't think we have a superstar in the mix. We have some really nice role players that could fill out a championship team, we just don't have the star (or stars). I don't think trading any of these guys cripples us in the future. Harris and Henson are really the only two with a chance to prove me wrong.

I was at the graduation party of a friend's son, and the kids were listening to dub step. One of the other parents looked at me and said "when our fax machine makes that sound, we know it's time for a new one". That fairly well sums up dubstep for me.

Basically, he said that the atmosphere of Milwaukee, added to the presence of the Narrons would make us a front runner. He adds the caveat that Milwaukee is only in play if no one makes him a monster offer. That they would be in play at a reasonable price, assuming they don't chase overpriced pitching.

ARam is in the Fred McGriff/Dale Murphy category for me. Certainly a feared hitter for his era, not necessarily a media darling, frontrunners for the Hall of Very Good. However, I'm weird with HOF stuff, as ridiculous as his counting numbers are, I've never thought of Jim Thome as a Hall of Famer.

You're right, staffing agencies, for all intents and purposes, are worthless. They get a HUGE pool of applicants, some serious, some looking for unemployment (as was mentioned above). They don't typically turn people down, as I believe the recruiters are paid at least somewhat on the number of people they sign. Really, your only shot at getting something out of them is if it is right after you sign up. Give it a week and there are 100 newer people, and you are old news (if you were ever news in the first place). It's basically a live version of monster.com. If you are going to seek help, get a headhunter. At least those guys have specific jobs to hire, and they benefit from placing the right people.

When I have that bluetooth problem in my car, I reboot my phone. Music works fine through it, just lose the ability to hear the other caller. Rebooting it has worked every time. -
I don't really view it as a trap. They are ruling out those who are out of their range. I wish more companies did it. I recently did a great phone interview with a company who had a position that was intriguing. I was referred for it, hit it off with the hiring manager, and they were ready to offer...at 50% of my current salary. It was a waste of time, they had salary commensurate with experience in the listing. What they meant was, entry level salary for an experienced professional. I'm friends with a few recruiters, and they have said that companies are getting unrealistic in their salary structure with the new economy. They want $100k people for $50k. Those that are desperate jump on the positions, and then burn out quickly; as the ratio of work:pay is not worth it.

I'm glad he raised a ton of money for cancer research. Other than that, I could care less about cycling or his professional/personal life. -
It amazes me that the team giving the best asset wound up with by far the worst haul. Wow.

Sixers are in the Atlantic Division. I don't see the Bucks getting the level of defense needed for a Skiles system to work. The guards aren't going to defend anyone. I would like to see this team with a coach who could use their interesting skillset. Not sure who that coach would be. I think they have some raw talent, I'm not as optimistic about results.

I don't see any reason to trade Gamel, I liked what little I saw of him this year. I don't think you necessarily pencil him in as a starter anywhere. He's kind of aged out of prospect status at this point, we are basically in his prime if I'm not mistaken. Give him a chance to play a utility role and hit his way into the lineup. If Hart gets injured, which seems to happen, let him make his stand then. I've never been a superfan of Gamel, but I agree that you don't throw away cheap talent. He may never have the career he was supposed to have, but he can be of use. How nice would it have been to have his bat available off the bench this year? IMO, baseball isn't exactly fair. It is a game of timing. He was unfortunate to be blocked by Prince, and when given a chance, he ran into bad luck. Sometimes life just happens that way. Often prospects, especially at non-premium positions have a very limited window to prove themselves. If you don't blow the doors off, the next guy is right behind you waiting. Teams like the Brewers can't give up on these guys too quickly, but they also can't keep the hope alive forever. I would love for him to turn into something, but my expectations are tempering by the year. -
I don't disagree with you Yoshii, but he is more of a 3 than Henson, Sanders or Udoh. I think this may be a team that does not have defined roles. They may play with a 1-2-4-4-4 for a great majority of the time.

I think they view Ersan and LRMAM as 3s at this point. All the skinny guys are 4s, Dalembert/Gooden/Pryz at the 5. As assembled, this team is going to be decidedly bad. I feel pretty comfortable saying that. I think they could be interesting with a small ball lineup at times of BJ/Ellis/Ilyasova/Harris/Henson. At least they'd be athletic.
