  1. Russell always wanted to be a Yankee, so the Rangers obliged. The Yankees are using him much the same way the Rangers did, as a professional to talk to their younger players in the clubhouse.
  2. I think with Burnes you are moreso hoping to get Odorizzi than Archer. The stuff isn't quite there. Though Burnes is still young enough that stuff could improve. I agree with this. Burnes, by all accounts, is not a TOR prospect. He's a control/stuff guy. Very Odorizzi like. I would rather a package based around Santana, as I don't believe he has tremendous value. If we could get them to take Santana/Burnes/Erceg, I'd pull the trigger.
  3. Yeah, OG was always better. Maybe they were just concerned about health? Maybe they were big fans of Sideshow Bob?
  4. That's too much for Jordan.
  5. I've had both happen in the past few years. I use DirecTV, if my contract is up, and I want free Football package, I have to play Hardball. I have not had to cancel all the way, but I eventually get to customer retention, who gives me what I want. I typically only call when contracts expire, as I don't want to pay "retail" for TV. I don't care about the length of the contract, etc...I know people want shorter often, I would prefer longer to avoid the hassle of calling to renegotiate. I recently moved, and they went out of their way to put me in a better package, without asking. I just assumed my service would be moved from Point A to Point B, but apparently a physical move involved a new contract. My cost went down significantly. Unfortunately, it may come down to what representative you talk to, and how eager they are to please.
  6. We've done stuffed peppers, meat loaf, and baby back ribs in the Instant Pot. I would say I was blown away by the peppers and ribs, the meat loaf was not significantly quicker or better than traditional. Just rubbed the ribs, put them in for 25 minutes, then finished 10 minutes in oven or grill for some texture. Will have to get peppers recipe from the wife.
  7. [sarcasm]problem solved, Marshall Plumlee signed to a two way. I wonder how Cleveland and Toronto will answer...[/sarcasm]
  8. Silly, not sure if you tried it, but try changing the order in which you ask Alexa. Sometimes I need to ask artist first, sometimes song title first.
  9. As in most places, I will assume I am the resident Jew here. There is nothing offensive about someone wishing me a Merry Christmas. I don't find it weird, it's a seasonal greeting. I don't think there is anything wrong with Happy Holidays either. People look for a reason to be upset about everything. If someone goes out of their way to wish me well, I'm not sure how that could ever be construed as offensive. That being said, the so called "war on Christmas" is one of the silliest concepts I've ever heard. Christmas essentially is celebrated for a full quarter of the year. It's inescapable. It may actually bother me if there was any religious connotation to it. I largely enjoy the commercial aspects of Christmas. Santa is cool, I like colorful lights, and who doesn't like cookies?
  10. From the way I read it, he was extended at some point midseason, it just came to light today.
  11. The Georgia Oklahoma game was one of the most entertaining CFB I have seen in ages. I want an 8 team playoff. 5 power conference champs, 1 UCF type (undefeated mid-major), 2 wild cards. Hate them or not, Alabama probably belongs in the playoff every year. If you want the Champs to be the best team, someone needs to beat them. Just be honest about what's going to happen, you're going to give them a slot. The only team of the 4 yesterday who looked like they didn't belong was Clemson, the 1 seed. I would have liked to have seen Wisconsin compete, after watching them against Miami, I think they could have held their own, and probably beaten Oklahoma.
  12. I might use him for Archer, but dealing him for Odorizzi would seem to be the wrong direction, IMO. They're somewhat similar profiles, would seem to be trading youth for age in a like talent profile.
  13. I'm fine with a turnstyle in the bullpen. I don't believe there is much depth in the "proven reliever" market. These guys are just so volatile. I'd rather take chances with youth and lottery tickets, than bet on repeating success in the bullpen. Obvious caveats with the top tier, but we're not discussing them.
  14. ...and a few moments later he is selected by Pittsburgh in the Rule 5. The power of the top 30!
  15. I wouldn't give up KM for Jordan. Henson and Brogdon, I'm fine with. Give them DJ Williams.
  16. I agree, love Marques Johnson. On another note. The Bucks are apparently invincible with Eric Bledsoe. He really adds an element that they were missing. Fun to watch.
  17. I wasn't bothered by the area in my trip to Spring Training. I thought the facility was great for fan interaction. Was probably my favorite of the stadiums I visited.
  18. I think the upgrades are at 2B and pitching. I would not be opposed to keeping Walker, I liked him. Every team needs bullpen help, and I would target a decent starter, either through trade or FA. I am ready to move on from Broxton, I liked what I saw of Phillips. If Broxton can bring you a reliever, or a low end starter, I'd grab it. I'm fine with the Aguilar/Thames hybrid at 1B. You could get better there, but probably at high cost. I don't think this team needs a huge boost. I think they're good. We need a pitcher to replace Nelson, maybe one more for competition (either internal or external), and some bodies for the bullpen.
  19. Yep, missed on that one. Shaw as well.
  20. Way off on some of my predictions, but I'd love to see a sweep to be one short!
  21. I was impressed with King and Jones when we saw them. Jones is a big hitter, King looked good in coverage.
  22. I'm on the last step of getting rid of facebook all together. I've unfollowed many for the same reasons, at this point, my FB wall is basically just Game of Thrones memes. I think I've outgrown FB, and social media as a whole. I somewhat enjoy Twitter, that's about it.
  23. I'm not saying it happened often, but there have been plenty of years where it felt like it has been in play. It was always a relief, and seemed to happen in late September. This post is light hearted in nature. All it was meant to be.
  24. Still celebrate the day we officially can't lose 100. The Brewers have conditioned me for this...
