  1. Rosiak or from the Brewers themselves. Hogg and Rosiak are splitting ST for MJS. McCalvy had eye surgery and is recovering from that. We don't have an Athletic reporter. It's a bit disappointing.
  2. It’s pathetic that the Brewers haven’t had an Athletic reporter since Sammon left what like 2 years ago?? Seems like they have zero interest in filling that spot. Any chance this spring training press pass turns into a regular season press pass for fanatic?
  3. Yupp. Last year the average age of pitchers in the Midwest League was 23.1.
  4. 21 in Carolina last year was slightly under age league average pitching age. He turns 22 next month. Plenty age appropriate for his levels.
  5. SHEESH! If Henderson is really hitting 96 now with his FB shape then his prospect status could explode this year. Especially so if the slider takes a step forward and gives him 3 good pitches to work with.
  6. 12 HR in 455 PA isn't bad. LHH had a .722 OPS again him (72 points below the league average OPS). He had a 26.6% K-rate and 8.1% BB-rate vs RHP.
  7. Where are the rampant rumors that Adames will be traded? Nightengale was the only one who suggested the Brewers were shopping Adames and his credibility is pretty darn low.
  8. I found some DSL video of Quezada. Looks like a 3 pitch mix with FB, CH, SL.
  9. Brewers DFA'd Andrews to sign Junis. This was a waiver trade. Not related at all to the article about trading current 40-man bullpen pitchers.
  10. Quezada is from Nicaragua. Brewers love their Nicaraguan IFA guys.
  11. Figured I would just throw this here. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/arizona-florida-complex-league-schedules-changing-for-2024/ ACL and FCL are starting 1 month sooner and ending before most draft picks actually will be signed. Does this have an impact on 165 man rosters? Are signed draft picks immediately signed to a roster?
  12. Automatic Strike Zone in AAA was smaller and less forgiving than umps zones specifically at the top of the zone. More BB's, more hits = more runs and runners on base

My top 30 is rounded out like this. 21. Dylan O'Rae (IF/OF) 22. Bradley Blalock (RHP) 23. Coleman Crow (RHP) 24. Wes Clarke (1B/DH) 25. Ryan Birchard (RHP) 26. Matthew Wood (C) 27. Alexander Cornielle (RHP) 28. Will Rudy (RHP) 29. Juan Baez (IF) 30. Patricio Aquino (RHP)
  14. Fine I'll just rip on @Matthew Trueblood for going to North now.
  15. His surface numbers look great but the underlying numbers are extremely problematic and over larger samples show there are likely huge weaknesses that can be exposed. He has a K-rate of 38%, has overperformed his xwOBA by 70 points, has had injury issues his entire career. There are so many red flags with Mitchell that it's hard to take his surface numbers seriously in such a small sample.
  16. I think the Brewers bullpen could have the same ERA as last season but be worse. I don’t think people realize how clutch the Brewers bullpen was last season. They could have the same ERA but the likelihood they match last season’s WPA is pretty low. As I said above they had the 5th best bullpen WPA in the 21st century. Pulling off back to back season at that level is very unlikely.
  17. I feel like it needs to be taken into consideration how clutch the bullpen was last year. They were 5th in bullpen WPA among all bullpen’s in the 21st century. The likelihood our bullpen is that clutch again seems unlikely. I’d toss a few wins out just on the basis of that.
  18. I don’t know the context of other conversations but you’re totally taking my comment out of context. I was talking about Sanchez being a weak side platoon DH. If you did this with my comment then how can I know you didn’t just do the same with the others? Big time red flag.
  19. He also underperformed his xwOBA by 31 points in 222. Here is his DRC+ for each normal season of his career. 2016 - 131 2017 - 133 2018 - 110 2019 - 135 2021 - 104 2022 - 98 2023 - 115 He's a good hitter and he smashes LHP. He had 0.6 more fWAR than Caratini last season in only 40 more PA.
  20. Haase DFA. Black isn't on the 40-man. Option whichever one of Frelick/Mitchell/Wiemer will play the least. Gasser isn't on the 40-man. Option Clarke. Option Ashby. DFA Vieira. Not that difficult. Depth is a good thing not a bad thing FYI.
  21. My goodness how is signing a backup C (which was absolutely a need) who rakes LHP and can DH against LHP garnering this much negativity?
  22. That's what I am guessing. C - Contreras 1B - Hoskins 2B - Turang 3B - Ortiz (until Black is called up then Black at 3B and Ortiz at 2B) SS - Adames LF - Yelich CF - Chourio RF - Frelick/Wiemer/Mitchell DH - Bauers/Sanchez platoon
  23. The power potential from the DH position just looks totally leveled up compared to last season. Brewers DH in 2023 had 682 PA and 14 HR. Bauers vs RHP last year had 12 HR in 244 PA. Sanchez vs LHP last year had 9 HR in 79 PA. That's 21 HR in 323 PA.
