  1. I already think it is too late to trade him. If they wanted to trade him this offseason, it should have been done during the winter meetings or shortly after. Doing it right before the season starts would probably deflate the whole team without enough time to come to terms with it before opening day.
  2. This is not remotely true. A large majority of the fanbase and most of the MLB media have sided with Burnes when it comes to how his arb process was handled. Trading him midseason (barring us being completely out of contention) would be a nightmare scenario when it comes to fan support.
  3. Misiorowski is also suiting up today. Doubt he pitches, but hey there's always a chance.
  4. Tyson Miller continued his good start to spring training this afternoon with 2 IP, 5 SO, 1 HBP. He's at 5 IP with 8 SO and a 0.4 WHIP this spring. No TV today, but it looked like he added a cutter when in his previous outing that was on TV. Don't think he makes the opening day roster because he has an option, but he's great start to the spring.
  5. Who drew conclusions from this game? My original comment was just highlighting his struggles against LHH today.
  6. He also had elbow issues last year which dramatically altered his release point. Hard to be able to use his 2021 numbers when you factor context like that in.
  7. Not great is an understatement.
  8. Jake Cousins struggled to get LHH out today. vs RHH: 0-2 with 2 Ks vs LHH: 3-3 with 2B, BB, 3 RBI He gives up 3 ER and got pulled with a runner on 2nd and 2 outs. Didn't get a single LHH out.
  9. I had wondered a while back if the Brewers would have Woody skip the Cubs series to avoid pitching in the cold. Seems like something that would make sense to do.
  10. Naquin is a terrible CF. He's playable in RF. 1800 innings in RF in his career with -1 DRS, -1.7 UZR/150, -9 OAA. That's pretty comparable to what Renfroe is in RF.
  11. Profar had a good year last year, but he was worse than Naquin until 2022. Profar before 2022 averaged 0.9 bWAR/650 PA compared to Naquin's 1.5 bWAR/650 PA. Even last year Naquin's .317 xwOBA was better than Profar's .315 xwOBA Profar is better defensively and doesn't have crazy platoon splits, but it's pretty hard for me to say Profar is a $10M guy if Naquin is an NRI guy.
  12. Agree that at the moment he's below those guys, but I'm guessing the Jays are very high on him. LHSP that can throw 99 do not grow on trees. Just feels like teams prospect hug high level pitching prospects these days.
  13. Tiedemann was throwing 99 the other day. Just feels like another prospect that just won't be traded. Dodgers feel like the team that makes the most sense because they have Pepiot, Stone, Miller all on the doorstep or at the MLB. Tiedemann, Painter, Rodriguez all just seem like the clear best guy in the system and I don't think any of those teams trade them.
  14. After seeing all the hype for Painter this spring training, I cannot see the Phillies trading him. Seems like he's in that class of prospects that very rarely get traded.
  15. Exactly. Need to balance winning/development. We can't just throw them into the fire and say "work your way through the inevitable struggles" especially if there are 3 of them getting routine playing time.
  16. There's a difference between hard platooning them and making sure we don't have 3 LHH rookies in the lineup against a LHP. Also LHP in the minor leagues aren't comparable to LHP in the MLB, so those splits are absolutely not close to being guaranteed in the majors. We were one of the worst teams in the MLB against LHP last season. Starting 3 LHH rookies against LHP would be a great way to guarantee that happens again.
  17. Mitchell is not one of our top hitting prospects. His speed/defense/position is what carries his prospect level. FG has Mitchell with both below average hit/power grades. Pipeline has him with average hit and below average power. Suggesting the Brewers shouldn't play 3 LHH rookies against LHP isn't exactly a crazy suggestion.
  18. Hitting LHP in the minors is not the same as hitting LHP in the majors.
  19. This is a pretty big loss. Tyrone is the only RHH OF on the 40-man (Perkins switch hitter). Definitely don't feel good about Mitchell and Naquin/Frelick being in our lineup against LHP. I guess Brewers could push Anderson to RF against LHP.
  20. That's why it is, but he leaves tomorrow morning not next week.
  21. He's got a nice looking sinker. Saw someone compare him to Gustave today, and it feels like a really good comparison. Should be a decent shuttle arm over the next two seasons.
  22. Lux was definitely going to be their starting SS. They brought Rojas in to be a bench IF. Lux played both of his ST games at SS.
  23. Justin Yeager has some nasty stuff. If he can figure out the command then you have a very solid RP.
  24. Brewers should definitely ask for a prospect like that, but no chance the O's would trade either of those guys for 1.5 years of Burnes.
