We saw a Cardinals player choke today. Tomorrow we see a Padres player choke when Darvish gets lit up by the US.

Matt Bush just gave up yet another HR. He has given up 3 HR in 3 ST appearances.

I will add this. Mexico is definitely the best team that Japan has faced in this tournament and Japan is probably slightly worse than the US team that Mexico beat. This is also, I believe, Sasaki's first time ever pitching stateside. Will be an awesome game. I think Japan should be the favorites, but would not at all be surprised with a Mexico upset.

Absolutely on board with the Yeager inclusion. His stuff is filthy. If he can hone in that control, then he definitely will be an MLB reliever in the near future.

Most of the American RP last night were about half a mph under their average FB velo from last year so yeah that might be the case.

Average velo on the FB was 92.8 which is 1 mph lower than his average last year and is pretty similar to his average velo in the Columbia game (93.2)

Other than Bush, I am not that concerned. Cousins wasn't going to be on the MLB team either way so him struggling isn't problematic.

His ERA the last 2 spring training's were 14.4 and 10.8. It is at 11.7 this year.

Lauer's disastrous spring training has continued today. Another day where he was pulled in the 1st because pitch count was getting too high.

The Athletic is doing an MLB contract extension week and so far Burnes, Woodruff, and Adames have been included. These suggested extensions would kick in immediately this season. Burnes - 7/$185M with a player opt out somewhere Woodruff - 6/$130M Adames - 5/$92M Personally I think the Adames suggestion is laughable. Don't think there's any chance Adames would sign an extension that only buys out 3 FA years and makes him a FA at the awkward age of 32. I also think Woodruff over Burnes at those numbers especially because Burnes has a player opt out in the suggestion. -
Italy not doing much to help themselves out. 5 walks through 3 innings and an error that led to Japan scoring their first run of the game. Should add this ump isn't doing much to help. He's totally squeezing Italy's pitchers.

That was the second game Marte started. Adames was the only one of the Marte, Pena, Franco group to only start one game.

DW looked on top of his game in the 8th inning today. Zuniga, pitched 8th inning for Columbia, has looked absolutely filthy this WBC and unfortunately the Cards picked him up this offseason.

Did not look good. Would be a massive blow to the Mets. This also sucks for the WBC because the last thing they needed was a star player having a devastating injury.

Absolutely agree. DR making a deep run with Adames stuck on the bench would have been terrible for the Brewers. Huge win for us that they lost.

Adames once again on the bench for DR. Honestly really frustrating that he only played in one game during the group stages which likely means he won't be playing if they advance to the Quarterfinals. I have a feeling the Brewers are likely very upset with him hardly being used.

Yesterday Rowdy was 1-4 with a double. These were his batted ball metrics. 98.6 EV, 4 LA, 94 FT, lineout to 1B. 111.7 EV, 9 LA, 305 FT, double to right center. 115.4 EV, 13 LA, 342 FT, lineout to RF. 95.8 EV, 29 LA, 350 FT, fly out to left center. Just really good contact but some unfortunate batted ball luck.
