  1. Black with a broken scapula on a diving play in the OF and a broken thumb on a slide at 2B in 2022. Rough year for him.
  2. You do realize this is the complete opposite take that you had earlier this year when I said Burnes wasn’t a top 10 SP this season right? You said ERA doesn’t matter and that things like xFIP and SIERA matter. The lack of consistency is eye opening.
  3. Since 2020 he’s 5th in FIP, 4th in xFIP, and 3rd in SIERA among qualified SP. If nobody considers that pitcher a top 5 SP in baseball then I’m not sure how you can argue said pitcher is overrated.
  4. Who considers him a top 5 pitcher in baseball?
  5. Why are they not going after guys like that? They had top 10 payrolls when they were last competitive. It makes way more sense for them to go after those guys than it does for them to trade Grayson Rodriguez and more prospects for 2 years of Corbin Burnes when they are at the beginning of their competitive window.
  6. I don’t see Baltimore doing this trade. They have plenty of salary space to sign one of the SP option in FA. They traded Mancini and Lopez this year despite being in the playoff race which to me means their FO is taking a longterm stance which means I don’t see them trading the best or second best (Eury Perez) SP prospect in baseball for 2 years of Corbin Burnes. That’s a very short term move for a team whose window is just opening.
  7. You’re taking a 2.5 year sample size that includes his worst season since he became an established full time MLB pitcher. Of course his ERA (which by the way, hilariously ironic that you are using ERA) since 2020 won’t be as good because he had a bad 2021 and 2020 was a 60 game season. He has precedent as a very good SP dating back to 2017 and like I said nobody includes him in the top class of SP in the MLB so how is he overrated?
  8. Woodruff being a year older counters him being marginally better than Castillo.
  9. So one down year makes a guy overrated? Despite multiple years of success surrounding that one season?
  10. How is Woodruff getting $10M more than Castillo despite having an extra Arb year compared to Castillo? That’s too much money.
  11. Think you’re ignoring the financial disparities between being the GM of the Brewers and being the GM of the Yankees. You give Stearns an extra $100M a year to work with and I’m betting he would have more success.
  12. Yeah this is quite the hot take. Since 2017 he’s averaging nearly 200 IP and 6 bWAR per 162 games. 122 ERA+ with a 3.24 FIP in that time span. Don’t see anyone put him in that top tier of pitchers with Scherzer, deGrom, Verlander, Kershaw. He’s considered in the tier below so I can’t possibly understand how you think he’s overrated.
  13. Your whole post was about Mark needing to let Stearns leave if he didn't want to be extended which according to Stearns isn't what happened. Mark wanted him to be POBO through the end of the contract. Stearn's said it was his choice to step down not Mark's.
  14. Weird victory lap you are taking when Stearns said Mark wanted him to remain POBO next year and this was entirely Stearn's choice to step down
  15. Stearns said in presser that Mark wanted him to remain POBO next year and this was solely Stearns choice to step down.
  16. Seems like this is step one in Stearns heading to the Mets from what I’ve been seeing. Good for him that he gets his dream job. Hopefully Arnold can keep the ship steady!
  17. Your numbers for the Woodruff and Adames extensions seem pretty light. 4/52 for Adames puts his two FA years at like $15-16M which is seems way too light even if more FA years were bought out. 3/45 for Woodruff puts his one FA year at like $20M which seems light for only buying out one year of FA.
  19. Grisham was so good in the WC and NLDS only to go 0-18 with 9 SO in the NLCS.
  20. Grisham bunting with one out in the 9th inning down a run…just what? Padres deserve to lose with the way they played this series.
  21. 6 out save…Hader? That’s hilarious.
  22. This is the big one that most people don’t even consider. With AmFam’s location it’s not really ever something the Brewers will have. A huge disadvantage for us going forward as things like this become more and more popular.
  23. There's zero chance Burnes and Woodruff sign deals that cheap. That would make them comically underpaid.
  24. If I was the Brewers? No. If I was the Dodgers? Absolutely. Honestly not sure there is much I would trade Chourio for at this point. Would need to be for a player with multiple years of team control.
  25. Cartaya hasn't played a single AA game yet, so he's still a bit away from hitting the MLB.
