  1. I went Schmidt because I didn’t want to pick any known steroid users and any players that played before integration. Plus went by team need which imo has 2B/3B as the biggest weakness.
  2. Woodruff being a year further into arb than Burnes is the big difference maker here. If Burnes was arb 3 not arb 2 then he would surely be getting more than Woodruff probably a notable amount more as well (talking multiple million)
  3. Arbitration process looks at your whole career not just what you’ve done recently.
  4. This challenge system takes about 10 seconds because it’s automated. It really isn’t inconvenient or annoying.
  5. Woodruff should get more than Burnes. He's pitched 100 more innings, has a better career ERA, and is in his 3rd arb year compared to Burnes 2nd arb year. Brewers should have just given Burnes what he wanted (not like payroll is up and Mark is trying to save some money) but that doesn't mean Woodruff should be getting less than Burnes.
  6. Probably should have just given Burnes what he wanted when you’re only $740K apart but some people are making this out to be so much more than it has to be.
  7. Yeah around 2 WAR is definitely attainable for Rowdy. Last year Josh Bell had 123 wRC+ In 647 PA. His BsR was -5.6 leaving an offensive value at 11.3. His defensive value was -14.4. His fWAR was 2.0. That feels like something Rowdy could pull off with some better batted ball luck.
  8. More than likely the latter. Agreeing to a settlement doesn’t exclude a team from signing the player to a long term extension (Devers is an example from this offseason). It’s likely Burnes thinks he can get more through the arb process than the Brewers were willing to offer. it would be pretty difficult for Rowdy to put up a 3 WAR season with how poor his baserunning/defense are. For reference Vlad Jr (who has the most comparable baserunning and defensive numbers to Rowdy among 1B) had 2.8 fWAR last year with a 132 wRC+ and 107 more PA than Rowdy. For Rowdy to get 3 WAR he would probably need to be around 135-140 wRC+ with a similar amount of PA as last year
  9. Mike Schmidt. Arguably the best 3B in MLB history. Great glove and career 147 wRC+. Added bonus is he had one hell of a mustache. This addition allows Urias to move to 2B. I trust out OF rookies and Tyrone to at least put together 2 WAR at both CF and RF. I don’t feel the same confidence towards Toro or Turang at 2B.
  10. That’s exactly what the challenge rule was in the minors. Believe it was 3 challenges and you retain your challenge if it was successful.
  11. Good to see DW and the Brewers settle. Glad we don’t have another pissing match situation like we did with Hader
  12. The Sounds played a series late in the year with the challenge system and I really enjoyed it. The egregious misses get challenged but close calls that go either way are tough to challenge because of your limited challenges.
  13. If Frelick had a 137 wRC+, Mitchell a 118 wRC+, Wiemer a 109 wRC+ and Turang a 108 wRC+ not a single Brewers fan would complain. If those 4 hit like that they would probably combine for 12-14 WAR and we would probably win 100 games.
  14. Am I just missing something? Where does it say estimates there? I just see the numbers Caratini and Milner received.
  15. I don't even see the point mentioning Singleton. Singleton's career was derailed by his substance abuse issues. Who knows what he could have done if it wasn't for that.
  16. Cardinals just feels like such a match for him. Their rotation is solid but nothing special. If he goes there I hope he sucks but knowing our luck he will be 2018 Bauer and have a Cy Young worthy season
  17. These were our 14 position players on the roster in September. C - Narvaez, Caratini 1B - Tellez, Hiura 2B - Wong, Brosseau 3B - Urias, Jace SS - Adames LF - Yelich CF - Taylor, Mitchell RF - Renfroe DH - Cutch Not sure what roster move you are suggesting they do. DFA Cutch? Frelick had played 1.5 years of professional baseball and wasn’t a part of big league camp last spring like Mitchell was so he had never been around the rest of the team. There are plenty of plausible and logical reasons that he wasn’t called up.
  18. I don’t really understand this gripe. Mitchell had a 136 wRC+ (with some BABIP luck). Even if we called up Frelick instead of Mitchell it’s not even close to a guarantee that he tops the number Mitchell put up.
  19. Fangraphs says he has an option, and I am inclined to believe them.
  20. I think he’d be a good pick for the Brewers as a 4th OF. According to Fangraphs he still has an option as well. Mashes LHP and has an option to me is the perfect stopgap to save some service time on our rookies or fill in if they struggle.

  22. He still has an option according to Fangraphs. For that and the LHP mashing alone he’s worth being picked up.

  24. The Mets final offer showed me there was at least some concern in the near future.
