  1. You need to keep in mind that before Ruiz was traded to the Brewers he played in significantly more hitter friendly leagues than Frelick did.
  2. Yeah I just brought up a similar trade. Looking for a return of like Miller, Stone, Busch, Pages, Vargas or something along those lines.
  3. I mean if we are really feeling crazy we could send them Burnes and Adames for Miller, Busch, Vargas, Stone, and Pepiot. Never going to happen but if Brewers wanted to refresh that's a move they should consider.
  4. I really think Hader's 6 week slump heading into the deadline pushed Stearns into making a move he might not have wanted to. If Hader hadn't slumped and was still going strong, I just don't see us making that trade. Stearns was probably planning on trading Hader this offseason, but the worry of a slump ruining his value pushed him to make the aggressive move. I still think it was the right call. Our play as a team didn't drop off after the deadline. We continued playing slightly below .500 ball like we had done the two months before the deadline.
  5. Would hardly say the Astros dominated. They won 8-7 after being down 7-3 for much of the game. They won 4-2 losing 2-1 going into the 6th inning. They won 1-0 in an 18 inning game. That’s a sweep but hardly in dominant variety.
  6. I mean the Mariners won a road WC series??
  7. Lauer +40 IP and and less WAR is a tough one. Hopefully he has a much better year next year.
  8. Why is it safe to say we would have made the playoffs? We were 25-27 between our franchise best 50 game start and the Hader trade. After the Hader trade we were 29-31 so the last 4 months of the season we won at the same rate both pre and post Hader trade.
  9. Hader hadn't even been the best reliever in Milwaukee since DW showed up. He's not the best reliever in baseball.
  10. Quero guns down yet another attempted base stealer. That’s now 4 SB in 11 attempts against him. Incredible work out of him.
  11. Why would we trade Renfroe (a RHH hitter who was one of our best hitters against LHP) for Wade another LHH who can’t hit LHP. Our OF would have 4 LHH in that scenario between Yelich, Mitchell, Frelick, and Wade.
  12. Gasser, a competitive balance round 2 pick in 2021, is most definitely not a lottery ticket. Even calling Ruiz a lottery ticket is ludicrous considering he was in the MLB when we traded for him. When you refer to a prospect as a lottery ticket, you're referring to guys playing at most A ball and generally even lower than that (example being us getting Freddy, a 19-year-old pitcher in rookie ball, in the Lind trade).
  13. Urias 2021 - 112 OPS+ Urias 2022 - 110 OPS+ As you can see his OPS+ is basically the same as last year. Offense was down significantly league wide, so .739 in 2022 plays more like .790 did in 2021. Need to factor in context like that.
  14. Is he taking Henderson's spot? I had read Henderson hasn't reported yet because of soreness
  15. Was a pretty good day in the AZFL today for the Brewers players. Ryan Middendorf's line was 2 IP, H, 0 R, BB, 5 SO with a 45% CSW rate. Zavier Warren's line was 4-6 with 2 RBI, 3 R. He made ridiculously good contact today. Here are his EV and LA. 1st AB - 106 EV, 9 LA single 2nd AB - 108.4 EV, 9 LA single 4th AB - 106.1 EV, 4 LA single 5th AB - 97.8 EV, 16 LA single 6th AB - 87.9 EV, 22 LA lineout 5 Balls in play from Warren and all of them were LD with 4 being hard hit and 3 having EV over 105. He's been great in Arizona so far. Tyler Black didn't get the results today going 1-7 with 3 SO, but he got the ball in the air today which he wasn't doing much of in his first 5 games, his best contact was a 104.6 EV, 10 LA single. Black and Warren combined for 4 of the 10 hardest hit baseballs today.
  16. One of the doubles was a bit of a cheapie on a dribbler down the 1B line but the second one was rocked. 106.6 EV. He’s making a name for himself down there right now.
  17. So I just was going through the AZFL stats while doing a week 1 check-in for the Brewers' prospects and wanted to see what the AZFL CS rate is in comparison to Quero. The overall league CS rate is 20.3%. Quero was 4/8 for a 50% CS rate. If you take Quero out of the sample then the rest of the league's CS rate is 16.1%. Quero is just in a class of his own at the AZFL when it comes to shutting down base stealers.
  18. I mean he turns 36 in January and is coming off a year hitting 15 HR by far the lowest rate he's hit HR in his career. I don't really seem him getting a raise.
  19. I'd be down for something like 2/$32M or 3/$45M with a club option and a modest buyout in the 3rd year.
  20. Not sure you are referring to me or not, but I have wanted Black to get time at 1B. He's 6'2" so he has the frame to be a 1B. He wouldn't be the typical offensive profile of a 1B but honestly as long as you have production you can make up that power at another position. I think Black profiles to be pretty similar to Brendan Donovan of the Cardinals after comparing their batted ball profiles and BB and K rates. Donovan had a 129 wRC+ this season. If Black could put up numbers like that it doesn't matter if he doesn't have the typical power output of a 1B.
  21. Seems to me more just SSS flukiness than a good hitting lineup especially considering the Padres best hitters this series Grisham, Nola, Profar respectively had 83, 89, and 110 wRC+ this year. Grisham and Nola would have been two of the worst hitters on our roster.
  22. The sticky, icky on his ear is doing a great job.
  23. Joe Musgrove with some suspicious looking stuff on his ear tonight and his spin rates are comfortably up across the board. Very interesting.
  24. Je’Von Ward and Zavier Warren have had great starts in the AZFL. Especially Ward after not playing at all this year.
  25. I cannot believe that Marmol let Yadi (and his 51 wRC+) hit with 2 outs in the 9th inning as the tying run at the plate. He got bailed out by a Yadi devil magic bloop single, but man it would would have been sweet if that game ended with Molina and everyone crapped on Marmol for not pinch hitting Carlson or Gorman far superior hitters.
