    Koenig unfortunately looked pretty rough on his rehab assignment again. Velo is like 4-5mph down from where it was last year.

    You don't need to wait until the appeal is over. You can drop the appeal and just serve the suspension.

    Splitter that hung up in the zone a bit. Very hittable but not like a huge meatball. PCA is unfortunately a very, very good baseball player.

    Rom has been an OOTP gem for me this year so I've been rooting for him. Could get his chance with all the injuries to LHP. Still just 26 with 2 option years left.

    Sproat just doesn't have good enough stuff to get hitters out when he's catching too much of the zone. He doesn't have Ashby level stuff. He needs to be on the edges and mixing pitches. When you have three below average stuff fastballs you can't just throw without being concerned about location.

    At this point even though the whiff issues are still very real, I think you need to promote Fischer to AA. I think he might need to be challenged more and even fail to start making adjustments that are necessary to get him to his potential.

    Yeah I feel you. I don't have a crystal ball or anything but if I had to guess I think he ends up as like a 6th/7th inning reliever where he can sit 98/99 in short spurts and overcome the shape issues on his pitches with raw velo. Maybe I'll be wrong. I hope I'm wrong but I just don't think there's a simplistic fix for him. He just needs to be better and I'm not sure how realistic it is for the fastball shapes to improve or the command to improve.

    Just continuing my previous post but when I talked about Sproat not having great spin capacity on his hard stuff this is what I mean. Of 82 pitchers with 100 cutters thrown this year, Sproat's average spin rate is 79th and about 500rpm lower than the lowest spin rate year Burnes ever had on his cutter. Of 305 pitchers with 100 four seamers thrown this year, Sproat's average spin rate is 298th. Of 177 pitchers with 100 sinkers thrown this year, Sproat's average spin rate is 169th.

    I’ve seen people try to make this comp but I honestly don’t think it’s a good comp at all. 2019 Burnes had a huge HR problem but outside of the HR issues there was a lot to like with his very strong K-BB numbers. His xFIP was like 3.37 that year. If he could eliminate his HR issue he was going to take off. He ditched the FB for a cutter and it happened. Sproat doesn’t have any obvious changes in that regard and his stuff isn’t that good. He throws hard but his ability to spin the ball with velo is well below average which leads to mediocre shapes on his fastballs. He also has serious command issues. I think people really overrate how good his stuff actually is. The curveball and sweeper are great but the fastballs are all average at best from a stuff perspective.

    When talking about the boom or bust nature of our offense, I think it would be more interesting to look at frequency of like 3+ run innings relative to the rest of MLB. I feel like the offense is pretty consistent game to game but within games it feels like so many times where the bats are terrible for like 7 innings and then they have two innings where the explode for all the runs. I feel like that’s probably pretty common around the league but I wonder if it’s more extreme for the Brewers because we, at least the last time I looked, had extreme splits with RISP vs not.

    You really think he wouldn’t make it to round 2? Looking at draft rankings and the highest I see him is 113 on pipeline. BA has him at like 204

    I feel like at least for now you can take Drohan out of the reliever pitch count list because he's in the rotation.

    Unless he starts playing way better, I don’t think the Brewers need to be all that concerned about adding him to the 40 man to protect him from the Rule 5 draft

    Adamczewski just hit a 442ft HR over the batter's eye in CF.

    Wichrowski gets out of the 4th with a strikeout on his first swing and miss of the night in the form of a foul tip.

    Williams and Dinges. Williams has underwhelmed me and I don't see him being a long term starter for the Brewers. Dinges I don't think he's going to stick at catcher and I don't think the bat is anything special if he's not a C.

    I think if the Brewers thought Williams was a clear upgrade over Rengifo that he would be on the big league roster. Super 2 date has very likely passed. The fact Williams is a below average hitter in AAA with even worse underlying numbers than his actual results would lead me to believe they do not believe Williams is guaranteed to be better than Rengifo at this moment.

    I also just did not say what Bulldog said I did. If I had a choice of Woodford or a middle reliever in that spot I probably would have preferred a middle reliever to get out of the inning then turn it over to Woodford in the 8th. That just wasn't an option because the Brewers currently have a 7 man bullpen and the four relievers available in that spot were Woodford or our leverage relievers and in that sense Woodford is the only guy who made sense.

    Hall was a pec injury. Doesn't sound serious but I imagine it will still be an IL stint. Anderson took a comebacker off his forearm. X-ray was negative but there's some swelling. I think he's less likely to hit the IL but still a possibility.

    Pec issue for Hall which I imagine is assuredly an IL stint. Anderson forearm contusion but it's on his throwing arm. I think both probably go on the IL which means Woodford might stick around a bit longer. Personally I want nothing to do with that. DFA him and move Crow into his role.

    Not to mention Woodford only came in because Anderson got injured. He was warming in case Anderson gave up runs which is when the white flag would have gone up. None of Ashby, Uribe, or Megill had warmed up at all so you would have had them going from cold to quick warm up to replace an injured pitcher.
