I want the best promoted aggressively when warranted because of offering extentions at young ages makes better sense. Pratt at 21-22. Made-Pena at 20-21. etc.

I’d like to see the team trade some of their Carolina non-Bitonti-Adamczewski IF depth just to open things up for some of the talent below. Sometimes having too much depth can be an issue getting PT for some of your top prospects. I want the team to have the room to aggressively promote when warranted.

The team lowered payroll going into the ‘24 season over ‘23 as well and had a pretty good season. If they lower payroll again because of a potential loss of half their local TV money I’ll understand and look forward to what our award-winning FO can do with less, like they did last year.

Wilken-DiTuri-O’Rae can get moved yesterday as far as I’m concerned, but I don’t think they have a ton of trade value. Quintana I’d hold, especially after the second-half of the season improvement he made on both sides of the ball. Real short stops with his power potential just don’t get traded. Areinamo should be in demand, like Barrios was this past season. It would hurt to lose him but he could be a nice piece in a package. Same with Baez, especially after his showing in Arizona. With a 3-5 year big-league keystone combo of Ortiz-Turang likely not interrupted unless by big-time prospects Pratt-Pena-Made-Quintana, the team, imo, can afford to package 3 of the 4 prospects you listed along with the 2 I listed.

I read more than 1 scout that thought Pena a better prospect than Made. The ‘24 IFA class just keeps getting better after reading Badlers analysis of Quintana’s defense at SS., with his opinion being he can stick there moving forward, and his improvement in the box as the season moved along. Then with BA’s analysis of Quintana & Anderson’s having excellent swing decisions — wow, just wow.

Incredible job of mining talent by our International department. Quero-Chourio & the 2024 IFA class has been franchise-altering. It’s been franchise-altering because it’s allowed the team to procure prospect talent as good as there is in this game through a prospect-procurement system without a draft order. Acquiring top 5 prospect talent from a team consistently picking in the back half of the draft isn’t likely to happen, but with the international realm, it is happening, and that’s likely going to lead to a future top farm system and eventually transfer to the big-club. Reading what the scouts have said regarding Made, including BA, who has called him a future potential #1 prospect has me over the moon excited about the future of this team moving-forward. The sky’s the limit with this team’s prospect-procurement abilities

2024 Major Publication Prospect Ranks
SF70 replied to jay87shot's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
Because of the super young ages of Made-Pratt-Pena-Payne-Bitonti, I’ll even include Quero in there, the team can offer extensions and get all of their prime-performance years which will be the key to this team having the Small-Market dynasty I believe they will have. Getting 3 of the aforementioned locked up surrounding Chourio for 7 years should get it done. Not concerned about the particulars on the pitchers because this team’s PDS will develop great pitching from among the 25 pitchers drafted in the last 2 years, plus what they add in next years draft with all their extra capital. Many will think we are wildly optimistic regarding the direction of this team, and their prospects, but we are not, this is where this thing is going. Having the best FO in the game matters, and the doubters are about to find this out. -
Stability — An underrated strength of the MKE Brewers with their coaching staff. Henderson-Hook-McKinven-Dawson-Theisen-LeBoeuf-Weeks-Murphy, even Charlie Greene have been with the organization for years and are familiar to all the players, even the young guys.

Ashby and Hall to compete in 2025 as starters
SF70 replied to markedman5's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
That should be a no brainer. 7 plus pitches between the two of them, 8, if and when Hall gets his FB back. Both are poised to have huge years. -
Hall had a 70-grade FB back in 2023. His knee injury last year ruined his velo, and probably messed up his mechanics as well. This offseason he should spend strengthening the knee and spending time in the lab getting his mechanics ironed out. I’m hopeful the Hall our scouts saw pitching in ‘23, will be the pitcher we see next season.

1 hole, 3B, and 1 weakness, utility IF. I think we see both fixed with outside additions. 3B by trade (Suarez-McMahon-Bohm-One of Texas’s 3B), or FA (Moncada). Utiliy IF with IKF/DeJong/other. This is the strongest returning Brewers team I can remember for at least the last 14 years but probably longer.
-
For the first time in a long time the team will have real starting pitcher depth at AAA. Misiorowski (assuming)-Patrick-CRod-Henderson-Hunt-Smith then possibly 1 or even both of Ashby-Hall at times. Personally, I don’t see Smith as a starter long-term, same with Misiorowski, but certainly understand why the team wants to go the starter route with both given the team’s outrageous bullpen depth.

Brewer Fanatic 2024 Offseason Top 20 Prospects: #11-15
SF70 replied to Spencer Michaelis's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
Payne stands out for me. Potential 5-tool talents that perform like he did at his age can’t be outside of the team’s top 5, imo. Didn’t take long for him to squash the picked him for underslot reasons narrative. Having numerous young prospects for the league is an underrated aspect of this team’s system.- 21 replies

Brewer Fanatic 2024 Offseason Top 20 Prospects: #16-20
SF70 replied to Spencer Michaelis's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
Pena, stands out for me. Should be a top 10 prospect at worst, and for me, inside the top 5. The tools scream top 5, even with the young age.- 18 replies

Team Payroll and Winning the World Series
SF70 commented on Stealofhome's blog entry in Breakdowns around the Bubbler
The Brewers have the FO, infrastructure and 9 years of Chourio to become a SM powerhouse through the rest of this decade and beyond. They have the young core now to get to the postseason every year and the impact teenage talent and extra draft-capital to eventually have the best farm system in baseball that surrounds Chourio with star talent later this decade. No team in baseball has more potential for success than this organization does moving-forward. -
Filling the teams only 2 weaknesses (3B & utility IF) internally isn’t going to happen. Dunn missed more than half the year with a bad back and if finally healthy, needs to prove himself at AAA first. Black is a poor IF defender and as such isn’t an option for this defense-centric team. Monasterio shouldn’t even be a utility option let alone get big-league reps at 3B. FA with Moncada & DeJong could fill both holes for a reasonable cost ($8M & $4M respectively is my estimate), or a trade acquisition like Suarez, Bohm or McMahon. The rest of the team is set, depth-wise. Maybe a trade of a Rea with a signing of a Lorenzen, but this team outside of 3B & utility IF doesn’t have any glaring holes or weaknesses.

A trade discussed on another board had Williams & Black to the Phillies for 2 years of Alec Bohm. Bohm was a 3+ WAR 3B last season with big improvements defensively. $8M arby would probably be tolerable. The 2 years buys time also for our prospects including Jesus Made. Phillies losing Estevez & Hoffman so Williams would likely appeal to them in another go for it season. Another option is Edmundo Sosa from the same team if they want to hold Bohm. Good fielder, 2+ WAR in limited action. Like Bohm, 2 more years of control.
-
Disagree that signing Haase wasn’t a hit, since he performed quite well in limited action and the team also has their backup catcher until Quero is ready. Outside of 3B and an upgrade at utility IF, I’m not seeing anything this team really needs upgrading. I think they let Hoby go and we might see a trade of Rea, although for his cost he gives the team an excellent depth starter/bulk innings pen arm. A Moncada and or DeJong signing, and or a trade for a 3B should be about it. Improvement should come as a whole with the continued development of their young players along with a pain free Yelich.

Nah, take the pick for our excellent domestic draft-department and move on. With Made-Pena-Pratt coming in 2-3 years and Boeve-Wilken possibly before then, the team just needs a 1-2 year stop-gap at 3B in order to stay the course with their mostly homegrown, lower payroll, financially-flexible roster moving forward. Ortiz should be an incredible defender at SS and with more experience, improve in the box and become a 4-5 WAR SS in his own right. Save the money and use it to extend the best and youngest of the special young talent (Quero?Made?Pratt?Pena?Payne?) currently stabled in our farm system.
-
Love the thought of adding draft-picks for this team’s domestic draft department, but the non-Williams relievers just don’t have much if any trade value. And the one that does, very likely isn’t desired by a comp A team. Detroit’s strength is their bullpen and besides they aren’t likely in go for it mode anyhow. Rea to Colorado makes no sense since Colorado also isn’t in go for it mode with 1 year of Rea. Of the 9 proposals, 2 are possibles, although Tampa is like MKE, likely trusting their draft -skill, and not wanting to part with the pick. So maybe the Civale/Bauer to KC?, KC traded away their comp to the Nats last trade-deadline for Hunter Harvey who promptly got injured so they might be a little gun shy of repeating.
