    I’d add Woessner, Myers, Letson & Manfredi to the breakout starter list, and after watching Henderson touch 97 in ST, now that his oblique is healed, it shouldn’t be long before we see him on the fast-track, imo. I think you are seriously underestimating the pitching breakouts and potential in this farm.

    Bottom half of the teens seems too far a drop. Losing Chourio-Gasser-Ortiz will drop the ranking for sure, but has any farm in baseball had pitching breakouts that match ours? My guess is not many if any. I can’t imagine a drop further than 12-15, and near top 10 farm still wouldn’t surprise.

    Putting himself in position for a big-league call-up when a starter is needed.

    Yeah, absolutely, especially with a young and controlled big-league team, deep farm system and extra draft capital. Focus on upside HS hitting prospects with the extra pool money. They don’t need the depth of prospects as much as upside talent. This team is in a good spot right now to potentially build the best farm in baseball over the next 2-3 years.

    You could be right about the tilt towards pitching. I’m hopeful the last IFA class adds the power I think it could with 2-3 of the SS’s showing power early and or having projectable bodies that can add power eventually. I’m also hopeful the FO/PPS’s will continue their quest for power and having the extra draft capital in at least the next 2 drafts, but probably more than that should allow the team to flip the lack of power script in short order just like they flipped the lack of starter arm script.

    Adding more power bats like they started to do last year with Wilken-Bitonti is what this farm needs. They will add another JUCO big-armed starter like always they can add to the large stable of starter arms added to the system recently. This is the most balanced farm, positionally vs pitching I can ever remember, but the only real weakness I see is power bats, especially in the OF.

    Starters too. It’s incredible the leap this farm system has taken with pitching, thanks to the ‘23 draft, but also other non-‘23 draftees starting to breakout as well from the Woessner’s to some of the internationals (Galindez-Herrera, others, plus too many relievers to list). From a positional rich system to at worst, a balanced system, maybe now even more pitching rich, especially depth-wise.

    Yeah, Dunn belongs at AAA getting every day AB’s, not at the big-league level taking AB’s away from Joey Ortiz.

    Absolutely is! Thank you Todd Johnson & co. The ‘23 draft-class has injected an incredible amount of talent into the lower-levels of the system, especially pitching. It’s early, but when all is said and done, that class could be franchise-altering. On the international side, it’s been consistently good to great classes since Mike Groopman was hired back in ‘18, then on to Klentak & Armstrong. The ‘24 class, imo, could end up the best of all as far as depth of impact talent is concerned (gut feeling based on SR’s/value signings).

    I think we might be ok provided no new starter injuries. Off-day Thursday so we can get back to 5 rest days when Gasser joins the rotation in 8 or so days as the sixth starter. Both he and Wilson should be fully stretched well before Memorial Day. Just need to gut it out a few more weeks.

    Never thought this team’s farm would have too many legit starter arms to keep track of by memory, but that’s where we are with me — incredible turnaround for the system, arm-wise. Thank you Johnson & co.

    What a draft-class. Already have what appears to be a mainstay big-league reliever from this class (Hudson for Chambers). I know the overall 2023 MLB draft class was quite possibly the most talented of all time, but wow, this team’s collection of talent, especially on the pitching side is looking early on as being franchise-altering. From Wichrowski-Knoth-Birchard-Letson to Manfredi-Timmerman-Yoho-Woodward. Then the 2 high-bonus HS arms currently in extended ST, Bjorn Johnson & Hayden Robinson. That’s a ton of pitching talent from 1 draft-class. Then add Wilken-Pratt-Boeve-Bitonti & Adamczewski positionally and you get a WOW from me!

    Have to be happy with the early returns on trading Chambers to the LAD for Bryan Hudson. Dodgers scouts zeroing in on Justin tells me they see a future big-league starter, but that’s 4-5 years away and it looks like we have a nasty LH reliever for the foreseeable future.

    Absolutely yes on both accounts. The pitching added from the 2023 draft-class has at a minimum balanced out the farm, pitching vs positionals. The farm now has as many legit SP prospects as I’ve ever seen it. Maybe not the impact of Peralta-Woodruff-Burnes, but pure numbers — yes. But who knows, with the numbers of SP prospects now working with this teams PDS, we may see another dominant homegrown MKE rotation ahead.

    The package to acquire 2 seasons of Cease would have been prohibitive and doesn’t fit the timeline and philosophy of this team. Patience with this team is a huge virtue and will be rewarded.

    Tonight spotlights the progress the team’s farm has made adding legit starting pitching prospects. Whether by trade (Blalock) or draft (Knoth-Letson-Wichrowski). And now we have Herrera to keep an eye on, at least I will moving forward. So many interesting arms now in this system.

    Absolutely has priced himself out of MKE but……. The trajectory with his surplus trade value could make him the most valuable trade commodity in baseball offseason of ‘25. Could be as much as $60M, which is franchise altering talent returned.

    Josh Timmerman with a nice outing. 4+ 1H 2R 2BB 6K. The ‘23 draft-class just keeps getting better and better with every debut appearance.

    We have ourselves some starter arms now in our system, like more than just a few. Gasser-CRod-Misiorowski-Woessner-Blalock-Henderson Birchard-Knoth just to name 8. Of course there’s more, but there’s a pretty nice future rotation out of that group.
