  1. Extend, extend, extend. Turang, Wiemer, Contreras. Then extend some more, Frelick and Chourio.
  2. Yeah his hit-tool/raw power bat is something this organization needs more of. They have the athleticism. They have the speed. They have the elite defense. They even have the hit-tools. But are a homegrown power bat short, imo. YR fits the need. Chourio, Wiemer and Black are the only homegrown power bat potentials I see developed in the next 3 years. Turang, Quero & Frelick I believe will develop 10-15 HR power, maybe a little more, but another power bat would top-off this teams potential homegrown lineup. I’m not including Contreras since he was acquired.
  3. This is really close to my top 20. My only changes would be moving Brown to 12. Guilarte to 9, Lara to 8 and Yophrey Rodriguez to 10.
  4. Seems to have the body that can fill-out some more and get stronger where he could add 2-3 ticks to his FB. He’s definitely one to watch.
  5. 3B is such an important position defensively and I just don’t see him ever being anything more than a below average defender there, and that’s with improvement.
  6. I keep waiting for the team to have him play some 1B, which I believe is his big-league future with this club. His emerging power to go with his BTB/plate discipline makes for a very intriguing player.
  7. Varland can either get traded for (if the team really likes him) and optioned or sent back to LAD.
  8. Team just got better with Perkins now back at Nashville.
  9. Not a fan of adding to the already jam-packed Nashville pitching-staff.
  10. Understandable considering the injuries and LHP faced. No Mitchell, Urias, Taylor, Frelick, Woodruff, Ashby, Houser has caught-up to them
  11. This team is in great shape bullpen-wise this season. Besides Peguero, Andrews, Uribe, Wilson as possible HL arms, they also have Gasser & Small, who have started to make progress throwing-strikes at AAA. Ways to go, especially Small, but the progress is real.
  12. The team is going with experience over talent/performance this early in the year. I think a month from now, if Andrews is still dealing, he gets the call. same with Uribe, although that might be a little further down the season.
  13. Yeah, I know, but why won’t he get called-up the second-half of the season if he’s healthy and hitting?
  14. Why? He should be back playing for Nashville late June.
  15. Let’s hope so. With the ridiculous amount of long-term injuries this team has suffered already this early in the season, they need a sharp and strong Corbin Burnes the rest of the year for this team to have a chance to get to the playoffs.
  16. But sell what? An injured Woodruff? A struggling Burnes? A 91mph Lauer? I suppose Adames, but even TT and Urias might be tough to move after their injuries.
  17. So since the second-half of the ‘22 season until right now — a slightly above average league starter — a weak #3? sound about right?
  18. Andrews has been dominant for Nashville and pounds the zone with 3 above average pitches. Small has started to find the zone in his last 2 outings but still has to string more strike-throwing outings together before he’s ready to help the big-club.
  19. The rotation is hanging-on by a thread. Houser is injury-prone, the same with Miley. Lauer sitting 90-92. Rea is probably a mirage. Junk is junk. Gasser can’t command. With Woody & Ashby down long-term, the team can’t afford any more injuries to their starters and expect to get to the deadline in serious contention, imo.
  20. Come June this team could be looking up at the standings unless Burnes turns it around quickly., and I’m not just talking about Pittsburgh either.
  21. His whiff-rate has plummeted because he’s lost command of all his pitches, but especially his cutter. And until he can re-gain that command he’s going to be nowhere near the ace-caliber pitcher he was prior.
  22. The team was super-high on Andrews before his TJ, and now that he’s 100% and throwing as hard as he ever has (94-95 with deception) and has 3 above average pitches with pretty good command of those pitches, I think he could get the call anytime now. Uribe probably needs more time but he also could go straight to MKE from Biloxi with the stuff he has. If he keeps stacking clean innings throwing 100-102mph with his ridiculous SL he should be up sooner than later.
  23. Clayton Andrews is ready. He should be the call-up to Guerra’s DFA. Uribe’s getting closer, but probably needs a few more clean outings.
  24. Defense is underrated. Speed as well. Agree McCutcheon is vastly over-performing his talent-level. But the pitching gains are real and it’s because of that pitching, Pittsburgh is a much improved team.
  25. Bello has only started 1 game and got hit pretty hard in less than 3 innings, albeit with 5 K. Last years 11 start 2.94 FIP performance rookie season speaks to his vast talent and stuff. Hopefully it takes at least 1 more start before that talent shows itself again.
