  1. If that's not "very sub-par" then what is?? There are 16 teams in the NL. If Suppan is the 42nd best SP in the NL, then he is a #3 starter on an average NL team. That seems perfectly par to me. You missed the qualifier for 160 IP. No, I didn't. You did if you infer from those data that Suppan is a #3 starter on an average team. Durability only matters if the mediocrity that comes with it is better than what will replace that pitcher. For example, if you have a reliable SP with an ERA of 6, and could bring in a revolving crew of scrubs with ERA's from 4.5-5.5, we're better off making the switch. I don't have the data, but to say Suppan is average, we'd want to just throw IP qualifiers by using a 160 IP amalgam of small sample pitchers (e.g. all rotation spots filled by multiple pitchers using the first 160 combined IP) and then compare numbers by rotation slots, which still has its obvious flaws. That, or we can look at median numbers which should control somewhat for flukes in both good and bad directions.
  2. Just put a flexing Gabe Kapler cutout beside the grill. I always wanted one of those sweet tailgaiting grills that you can actually put on a truck hitch. But I would be too afraid to bring it to tailgate for this very reason. Can't you lock it to the hitch? Even with a regular grill, if you have a trailer hitch, you may wanna just lock it to the holes in the hitch with a chain or bike lock. When I lived in a less desirable neighborhood my grill was attached to the pillar holding the porch up with a bike lock.
  3. Do they already have tickets, or would they be buying some of yours? Unless they already have tickets, if they're counting on you, just lie and say they're all taken.
  4. Some good deals going on right now on games that have been discussed here. Both can be found on the weekly ads on their websites. Gamestop has their Game Days sale, with Valkyria Chronicles for $29.99. Toys R Us has a sweet buy one get one 50% off sale. Titles include Street Fighter 4, Killzone 2, Prince of Persia, Resident Evil 5 (only for 360) and several other recent big releases.
  5. Can someone please help me get jazzed about Chris Duffy? His name is thrown about around here like he's expected to contribute, but the numbers show me a scrap heap marginal player. Am I missing something?
  6. Well, there goes the "San Diego would love to have him" idea. They may have had interest a few years ago when he was something of a prospect, but why would they want him now?. Seriously, would you, as a Brewer fan be happy if Yount's kid Austin came here, stunk up the joint, and was dead weight on the roster?
  7. I caught this one faster than previous years, except for the obvious "Bill Hill" fiasco. I gasped for a half second and then blurted out "that [19 consecutive naughty words], then laughed. Y'know, I always try to be prepared on April 1, but invariably get tricked at least twice. This is number one today, guess the girlfriend's gonna come home and pretend to be pregnant, which I'll know is an April fool's joke, and then will lay down the prank hammer when my defenses are down later.
  8. It's not like it's even pronounced like "red" I think those are people who've heard "RE-diculous" and haven't realized that it's not a correct pronunciation, which then carries over into writing.
  9. ...and your HITLER if u don't agreE!!!! Godwin's Law
  10. I'm not sure why blood tests are necessary to diagnose an anxiety disorder. As far as I know, there isn't a widely-accepted blood test while there are widely-accepted psych and medical evaluations. Maybe they wanted some biological basis to point to so they could build the case for putting him on the DL? Just give the guy some alprazolam and let him pitch.
  11. Michael does start his own paper company. Michael's replacement @ Scranton is a terrible employee and Dunder Mifflin tries to get Michael back by buying out Michael's paper company. Michael then again takes lead of the scrantion branch again. I actually thought the same thing. I figured there'd be a mutiny or Charles would fire basically everyone and the place tanks so they buy Michael Scott Paper and turn it into their new Scranton branch.
  12. On a related note, does anyone ever read Yahoo answers? That site seals the deal that our country has no more than 10 years left as a world superpower. Just a bunch of snippy little nerf brains who have to give an answer at all costs and speak as experts when they have zero idea what's going on. Let's start a flame war with them.
  13. I have to assume Michael comes back as a salesman. perhaps that then allows Holly to come back.
  14. did anyone else have high hopes for Adrian Hernandez after his good spring a few years back? I believe it was one of our now-banned posters who oozed Hernandez love in 75% of his posts. Maybe it was scoop or bjames.
  15. Meyer, and Robidoux are required members of the list. Braggs was in the same class but was league average a couple times, so he's ineligible.
  16. I guarantee that guy posts here, unless he spent his internet budget on beaded seat covers.
  17. I too was there for Braun's first homer, which was awesome. I just happened to be in town for a conference and we were actually at the same hotel as the team. That stadium is really great and surrounded by a pretty nice area. Of all the conferences I've been to, that was easily the nicest location (we're often in so-so Chicago and have been in dumpy places like downtown Atlanta and this year will be in the reported nasty part of Phoenix - yay). I think they usually try to put us in a dump so we won't take off and skip the conference.
  18. RE5 is awesome. I played for a good part of the weekend and I'm pretty sure I've almost beaten it. But yes, the controls are weird and the inventory kinda sucks. I'd prefer that if they use that type of system it'd be like ratchet and clank where action pauses while you select a weapon.
  19. For majors I'm looking at Political Science, International Affairs, or History.......but I could end up switching all around. Then go to UW by all means. Those are degrees that either may not pay well at the bachelor's level, or will require grad school. if you quit with a bachelor's and aren't making a ton of money, you're really gonna appreciate the $20,000 less in loans. If you do go on to grad school, I can't see UW pulling less weight on your application, and once you're in grad school, your undergrad degree becomes almost meaningless. People only care about my terminal degree, as I've never even been asked in a professional setting where I did undergrad. Too liberal? There's a socialist party chapter near me in Texas. With a population that big, you'll find plenty of like-minded people, even if they aren't the majority.
  20. There have been better deals ($80 off at dell home), but for those thinking of making the next-gen leap, you can get a free copy of MLB 09 the Show when you buy a PS3 at bestbuy.
  21. That Mr. T video rules. "With pants pegged tight and hair and fitness, he is the eighties nod to fitness splendor. Stay cool, Jeff!" Stay cool indeed. ? " type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowScriptAccess="never" width="425" height="344" >">
  22. I watched the entire video (somehow) and I can't tell which one is Fergie. Which one is she? The one who looks like she took a Branyan hack to the face.
  23. If you're a grammar enthusiast, don't move to Texas. "Whenever I was 10 I loved Batman". No, it's not "whenever" because that was 1986, not some unspecified recurring time. "I took the ball and chunked it". Where's your bathroom. "Do what?" No, I didn't ask you to do anything. "I went to lunch at Mack Donald's". "Fixin' to". "Eckspecially" "Catty corner" Of course, as bad as it is, it still isn't Alabama. I have an aunt from Mobile and she may as well be speaking Persian. The best part is, because I'm not a Wisconsin resident, in Dane County I need to have a letter of sponsorship from another minister of my faith (!) who does reside there, so I had my mother in Ontario get online and get ordained as well. I could have done that for you. I have my faded, yellowed printed certificate in a box right by the computer.
  24. Also, I find that shopping for PS3 is very confusing. I found prices all over the board. To me it would seem that the 120G would cost more than the 80G and the 80G would cost more than the 60G and so on. But, this does not seem to be the case. I would prefer to by new and I don't need a bundle...I just want the console. What prices should I expect to pay and what suggestions does anyone have regarding what system would be best to buy 20?, 40?, 60?, 80?, 120?. Right now, the only models are the 80gb for $400 and the 160gb model for $500. The best way to buy one now is either to keep checking bensbargains.net until Dellhome brings back the 20% off ($320) deal, or go to bestbuy and get a free Guitar Hero 3 and $50 gift card. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=category&id=pcmcat174700050002&AID=10597222&PID=404255&URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bestbuy.com%2Fsite%2Folspage.jsp%3Ftype%3Dcategory%26id%3Dpcmcat174700050002&ref=39&loc=01
