  1. I will give zero props to Gagne. When your aggregate performance is what any AAA hack can put up, you don't deserve any more respect than the Jamey Wrights of the world (who's putting up better numbers even though he's in TX). This is the proverbial blind squirrel finding a nut.
  2. I guess when your offense has recently performed like a lineup of pitchers it's not as bad to bunt as it usually is. When you have several guys putting up an OPS over .800 and playing like it, you don't want to kill outs on bunts.
  3. Reliability problems are the biggest reason that I still can't bring myself to buy a 360 in addition to my PS3. It's why I bought a PS3 and not a 360 even though it's a very similar system with (it definitely seems) more games in stores, especially cheap used ones.
  4. I'd say the Brewers are more like the Vikings. Pretty valid, though we haven't had as many opportunities to choke as they have. The Vikings are amongst the absolute gold standards in choking.
  5. I may cheer for the Cubs for a few days, but I will never feel anything less than hatred for that lame song.
  6. I'm really, really bummed that The Force Unleased is reportedly so mediocre, as I was looking forward to it for so long. I guess I'll just rent it or wait until used copies drop to $25.

  8. I get pretty mad as well, but my anger pretty much only comes out as a long line of really loud curse words. I think I broke some things when I was young and regretted it so I learned to keep it all vocal.
  9. Yeah, it could be a big loss for us if it doesn't result in a playoff berth. Still, Sabathia has been phenomenal and played a huge role in keeping us in the race. If we fail to make the playoffs, it's obviously in spite of the outcome of this trade.
  10. I doubt anyone in Milwaukee is making much if any money from this. Probably not the team, but this is good for the city of Milwaukee, restaurants, and it's overpriced hotel rooms. Off topic, Milwaukee may have the most overpriced hotel rates in the world, relative to cost of living. You expect to pay $100+ in San Francisco, but Greenfield?
  11. My immediate thought is "whose daughter did he make an inappropriate pass at, or who caught him talking crap about them?" Something pretty much had to have gone on behind the scenes that we don't know about for this to happen.

  15. I'm already passed the panic and into the acceptance stage. Me too, I've resigned to the thought that the Brewers are done.
  16. For those who are fans of the British version of The Office, can you even understand what in the world they're saying? I tried to watch it several times and had to turn subtitles on, which ruins humor and comedic timing. I'm typically very good at adjusting to accents: my GF didn't learn English until she was 18, a lot of my coworkers are Asian or Nordic, I worked in Chinese restaurants, and have a lot of foreign born friends, so accents are nothing new. Still, I cannot decipher the English on that show as well as I can with Chinese and Japanese people who've been speaking English for 5 years.
  17. Fynally. Laynce Nyx has always byn one of those players I hayted for no apparynt reasyn, goyng back to his tyme with the Rayngers.
  18. That'd be awesome if I could power my car with my flatulence. My girlfriend could finally stop getting mad at me when I drink High Life or go to the Chinese restaurant and just order 5 egg rolls for dinner.
  19. After all, I drove three hours to watch Ruben Quevado pitch against Bartolo Colon back in 2002.' I feel ya, I drove down from Eau Claire for my birthday weekend to watch (I had to check B-R) Alan Levrault give up 4ER in 5IP then the next day Jamey Wright gave up 9ER in 5.2IP. I totally forgot about the masterful performance of Ronnie Belliard in the Sunday game.
  20. He's washed up. Done. And yes, he is stealing, If his results were due to HGH, and his failures are because of quitting HGH, but the team did not know he had drugs to credit for his success, I guess the argument could be made that he fraudulently obtained the contract.
  21. Lou Palmisano DFA'd catching WOAH RETURNDD!
  22. I think BAA can be deceiving, too. It's not just about the hits, it's about what kind of hits they are and what you do with the other batters. If a guy walks a lot and gives up a lot of hits while never striking anyone out, he's less successful than a guy who allows hits at the same rate but walks few guys and strikes a lot of guys out. As mentioned, defense plays a big role as well, as a high GB pitcher with a stellar IF behind him will look better than he would with the 2007 Brewers IF backing him up.
  23. A big problem I see is that not only are we probably going to lose our top two pitchers I hope we can look back on this in a year and say we only lost #1 and #3. If Yo comes back guns a-blazin' our rotation next year is really no worse than it was from the day after his injury through the day before the CC trade. If that happens and we can upgrade from Gagne while Riske improves to a reasonable 3.60 ERA, our pitching actually isn't that bad.
  24. If we get caught by Houston, we very likely have much more to worry about than the simple fact that Houston passed us. Yep, if we have to worry about Houston it means we fell apart and sucked. Let's say we win tomorrow and go 7 games up. We both have 22 games left and if we go 11-11, they need to go 18-4. What we really need to worry about is that 4-game series at Philadelphia. That and 6 tough games against the Cubs are the biggest obstacles standing between us and the playoffs.
