Ok... but how do we make that distinction? Ohtani came over as a pro as did Sasaki, but they didn't meet their own standards in Japan to do so without being posted by their teams. Similar to...many Cubans who've come over. So it has to be more about your status in the league you were in before you came over more than prospect vs pro. He didn't meet the requirements in Japan, so MLB honors that? Talk about a stupid move BTW. He could have waited a year, gotten... maybe not Yamamoto type money if he had shoulder issues, but more if he didn't and even if he had shoulder injuries, he'd have signed a BIG contract. Likely a 9 figure contract.

Wait a second, the MOST data driven guy here and your arguments are that this is an "easy answer," because; -Frelick is really good in RF -Neither Frelick, nor Chourio have much time in CF... but in the sample size we do have, Frelick IS the better defender according to the metrics, but the best long term alignment long term is Jackson in CF...so might as well give him time there? I'm not entirely sure why we're concluding the best long term alignment is with Chourio out there when we certainly can't do so now, but...alright.

I don't know if I did this. But I'm just... kinda at the expecting 86 wins in a year things go poorly and 94-95 in a year things go well. I'd have probably said 93-94(maybe I did, don't recall if I even guessed). But hell, when they had that one month, 6 vs the Dodgers, they had the Mets, the Cubs, the Marlins who were hot, the Mariners, the Royals... I didn't even give one. I usually overshoot it, but I thought 14-12 was optimistic(I don't recall the exact number of games, but I thought with the ASB it was 26. And...they BLEW right past that! I wasn't even worried about the division in May. I thought we'd figure it out...and NEVER did I expect THIS to happen. I thought we'd be in a race and run 'em down like '18. Hey, lets play two today...and start a new WINNING streak!

And Chourio is 86. So... 85.6 vs 86. Marginally better. Even if Frelick was 90, you're not putting him in RF if he's a better CFer(which I think he is). As I said earlier, I think Chourio may be worse in the corner OF spots. As for Yelich... yeah, he's... obviously the worst, but he wasn't part of the discussion. A better example would be Perkins. He's got a stronger arm than either. You're not putting him in RF because of his arm strength. There really isn't a big enough difference in ANY of our OFers to designate them as LF/RF/CF based on their arm. There's no Khris Davis or Jay Buhner out there(Yelich is lower this year, but he's made very few throws, even he's been...comparable to Collins in the past and his max velocity has decreased substantially as the season has gone on, likely due to that lingering back issue he's finally addressed).

Yeah, I found it. They're going to "listen to offers," and it all seems odd to me. He's been asking for days off and some in the organization are upset. Well...the organization JUST extended him. Unless the Yanks want to part with some top prospects(which would make sense) or...the Dodgers... which would make less sense with them being in the division. A cost-controlled superstar, they'll get a few top 100 prospects back and I'd imagine a top ~20 or so. Seattle could actually be a great landing spot as well. Teams that either have the equity to afford it, OR that have the money to... not have to worry about prospects. 2B/3B has been an issue. Marte is an elite glove and one of the top hitters in the game in the midst of a HOF career. I'm still almost tempted with that player/contract to inquire about him if nothing else. Not Made or Pena, but Pratt+ 3-4 guys, but... I wouldn't want the guys we'd have to give up most likely.

That's the thing we've got going for us... this window, despite what many may argue(not on here) this isn't a 1 year window, this is just the cracks. He missed all year last year, then missed a lot of time this year... and he's STILL young for a catcher. He IS a top propsect, but even with what's two very unproductive years of development, he's still young for a catcher. I don't see a reason to bring him up. If you bring him up next year, you're going to do what? Sit him behind Contreras or lighten the load on Contreras and have him DH more? That pushes Yelly back o the OF. I'm starting the year with Haase. If Quero is that type of dude that ATL has in Baldwin, then you trade Contreras the following year and you move on. And hopefully Dinges becomes a great backup catcher(I think he could be the guy who actually passes Quero up with pop times as low as 1.79 and the bat he's shown, but... probably not realistic).

Chourio may still be the most important player on this team. He and Yelich. He can change the game with a swing of the bat, a bunt base hit, stealing 2nd...most everything but a walk!

Well.... you don't really need to rely on the broadcast guys when they track these things. Velocity when making a throw from the OF and...they're actually pretty even here(actually, I believe Chourio is marginally better). But you're not ever putting a player in RF rather than CF because they have may have a marginally stronger throwing arm, and again, Chourio actually has the marginally stronger arm, though... it's close enough to be irrelevant here. Frelick AND Chourio both have good arms. You'd never say PCA has a great arm and as such, you put the guy with the better arm in RF. You'd lose too much value from the guy playing the MOST important position in the OF...covering the MOST ground.

Well, someone's going to get a stud. That's the type of player I'd move one of those two studs for. I don't think I'd have interest in that particular deal... unless we're going to move Turang to SS(likely a less popular idea today though... I don't think mishandling as soft liner is all that relevant). But it sounds like they're going to really re-build or what?

EXACTLY. Even in hindsight, it's hard for me to really argue Myers is better to have out there to get through that inning just based on their performances this year. I think a better argument would be.... you need to cover 18 innings tomorrow, you've got Misiorowski throwing a game, no DL Hall. Even with Patrick and now likely Yoho(who I don't trust) just leaving Myers in case it went even longer and save Anderson would have been a better argument than "Myers is better." I mean, Anderson had thrown to a sub 3.00 ERA, 9.5 Ks per 9 and... been pretty solid... for what's basically the last guy in the pen. It was not a good day for him. I thought the 4 pitch walk was more of an unintentional-intentional walk, but...I may be wrong. To the last point though, this division could be really tough in the future. The Pirates have a lot of really good pitching. Maybe the best young(24 and under) pitching in the game. Bubba Chandler, Jared Jones, Skenes. This HS kid they just drafted could move quick. The Reds have a young group that could be nasty with Burns, Lowder, Petty. I don't actually know much about the Cards and the Cubs..., I think they'll make another trade for someone. Especially if they pony up for Tucker in the off-season.

Turang's was definitely a sac bunt. He just got it down the line and beat it out. Today, it was just a bad bunt. And I did agree that without the pen, I'd probably not have bunted it there, but I think there's quite a bit that people are...not recalling. Durbin has put down quite a few Bunts, Chourio, Yelich both have done likewise. Vaughn just had a sac bunt with men on 1st and 3rd that was clearly all his decision. I would say the bunt has been about as big and important for the Brewers as just about any team in Baseball. Obviously, the hotter you are and when you're 2nd in OPS over the last 30 days and you just had a road trip in which you're the first team in MLB History to score 80 runs and allow 30 or less(whatever it was) you're probably bunting less... but I feel like I'm watching another team. I'm also not sure why people are so down on Anderson as compared to Myers. He's been just objectively better in everything you need there this year. Much better GB%, much better K rate, tougher on lefties and we're talking about how bad Murph's BP management is. How we shouldn't have traded Cortes and this is all a byproduct of that and forcing Misirowski into a start.... There is definitely some teeth gnashing going on. I agree with @Brian... we're getting a little spoiled.

Right. I didn't argue that point. I did argue that their current predicament was the result of trading a guy who'd started two games for us and both were in March/1st week of April. LOL...I forgot what game threads are like... even in a season like THIS.

Ok, so I answered using ONE recent example of a team that's done it all year and; That's your response? Why'd you even ask for ONE example if your response was going to... that? I mean, there are SO many other examples where they've manufactured runs all years and particularly during this stretch, I just gave you one very recent one...

Off the top of my head, the game Turang just bunted for a base hit with a man on 2nd and the Brewers ended up trying it when Cruz threw the ball away trying to turn two.

They didn't start Misiorowski out of necessity, they started him because he barely missed any time. Him struggling, sure, THAT caused a problem. Trading Cortes is... REALLY nit picking and using ONE game to say, "well, would have been great to have a 6 man rotation." They could have a 6 man rotation right now if they wanted one. Cortes wasn't the make or break guy on that.

...not sure what risk you're talking about? Going to 3rd? Because I think he was going to easily beat that, but I don't know what other risk there may have been.

It's not like they're lacking for starting pitching depth. They still have Patrick in AAA who has a better ERA in ~100IP. Then Henderson IL, Myers is being used out of the pen. I don't really think this is the domino effect of the Nestor Cortes trade.

This is more my issue. Not the bunt... you don't have Uribe, Megill, Mears... gotta play for more than one...IMO. But it's REAL hard for me to question Murphy at this point. There's a long list of "I'd have done...and there's a drive to left by Mona-...."

I guess, but Anderson has been pretty good for his role in this pen. Hard to complain too much.
