  1. The theory I heard about someone using dynamite to kill varmints seems plausible.
  2. On the face of it, no, I don't think he should be a Hall of Famer. He's never been seen as one of the best at his position, or a huge game changing type player. I don't think he sticks around to get to 3000 hits anyway, which would give him an outside shot.
  3. Is YOSTED already taken?
  4. That Pioneer does look like a good deal, judging from the specs and comments on that board.
  5. My experience with receivers isn't what it used to be, but I've liked Onkyo over the years. I currently have two of their receivers and they both work great. Not too complicated, either.
  6. I can remember back in '98 (I think) we had a big snowstorm in April. I would rather not jinx things and go through something like that again.
  7. I think the Dwight Howard situation goes well beyond that, though I admit I haven't followed it too closely. Trying to handpick your teammates and coach are issues that seem to go well beyond "controlling the direction of their career."
  8. I'm glad we raded him, to be frank. I bought into his hype when he was a prospect, and thought he was going to be great based on his limited playing time in 2009, but after that he didn't bring much to the table. If the Royals are content with him, good for them I guess.
  9. Maybe, but it partly depends on how much Greinke really wants to stay in Milwaukee. He's not stupid. He knows Milwaukee can't/won't pay him as much as a big market team.
  10. I wonder if the other two Brewers weren't "star" players, and maybe that's why their names haven't come out. No one would really care that much if, say, George Kottaras and Tim Dillard had positive results that were later overturned.
  11. Nice article from Tom Haudricourt on Logan Schafer: http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/142411485.html
  12. Yeah, I think both sides know a Jered Weaver type contract is realistic and probably what it will take. I don't think Attanasio will hesitate to let Melvin give out a contract like that, either. If there is any budget concerns, they can defer some money if need be. I don't think they'll have to, though.
  13. Very well said, rwa. I've been saying for a while that the definition of madness is "doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result." If the past 12 (or however many) players failed to have their suspensions overturned, why would it have made sense for Braun to use the same failed arguments? I still believe that Braun did not cheat, and I don't believe Laurenzi sabotaged him either. I think something weird happened with the sample or the testing to cause the positive result. What that is, we may never know. At this point, it isn't really productive to worry about it.
  14. We had a good time as well. Glad we had a decent crowd again this year. I want to thank recte as well for hosting and making sure we were well taken care of.
  15. Just a reminder that this event is happening tomorrow night! So if you don't have plans, come on down and enjoy some fun with fellow Brewerfan.net members!
  16. Gery Woelfel feels there's a good chance to Bogut will be traded before the deadline. Not sure how much stock to put in it, but seems plausible at this point. http://www.journaltimes.com/sports/bucks-beat-are-bogut-s-days-with-bucks-numbered/article_54646df4-69ac-11e1-947a-001871e3ce6c.html
  17. I'm probably going to skip this year. I have been consistently buying this game the last few years, and it doesn't sound like there are enough changes this year to justify another buy for me right now. Doesn't help that our household has some possible big expenses coming up as well.
  18. It's something they had to do. The criticism of the Pirates' ownership was starting to heat up over the off-season again, so I'm guessing this is partly designed to appease the fan base.
  19. I don't see the logic in showing this on a 20 minute delay. Weird.
  20. Yeah, not sure what's up with MLB Network, but the game has started.
  21. There were plenty of things Roenicke did that annoyed me last season (forgetting about Nyjer Morgan for like the first couple months of the season in particular), but he showed a willingness to learn and adjust as the season went on. 96 wins is 96 wins, however you slice it.
  22. Just goes to show that these problems often work themselves out in MLB.
  23. Why does it "bum you out?"
  24. For me, nothing can take away the memories of the 2011 season. I'm not going to let fans of other teams, especially ones who are very ignorant, drag me down. I'm very optimistic about 2012 as well.
