  1. Maybe find a young fan that would enjoy them and give them as a gift? I have to imagine some kid would love to have them.
  2. I'd be curious what the state's labor department regulations are on this. Would be worth looking into.
  3. I hope you're right, hawing. This offense badly needs a spark right now, and I believe in playing the hot hand. Aoki definitely warrants more playing time with his performance of late.
  4. Provus was/is a really good announcer. Clearly the Twins agreed with that sentiment.
  5. Have to remember with Hart that he just had knee surgery a couple months back. His defense has never been stellar, but I would say he's still adequate defensively.
  6. He's basically our only power threat off the bench, and I don't think he's as horrible defensively as some make him out to be. I'd keep him for now.
  7. I was pretty sure they already do something like this. Anyway, I still think it's silly that MLB retired his number league wide, but then bring it back for one day. Seems overly commercial, IMHO.
  8. Not that it's that important to this discussion, but the player doesn't choose the team, the HOF does. I know that's the case now, but not sure if it was when Molitor was inducted. I remember a big deal being made when Molitor returned to County Stadium at one point and announced he'd be going in as a Brewer. I know later when Wade Boggs was negotiating with the Rays, it was rumored they were going to work a deal where he'd go into the Hall as a Ray, and then the Hall announced they would be picking the team at that point. Anyway, I don't know why people keep talking about Molitor's current job. We're just talking about the man getting a statue, not getting a Brewers contract or taking over Roenicke's job or whatever. I'm sure Paul and the Brewers could set aside any animosity (which I don't think is really there anymore) long enough for him to come down for a statue unveiling.
  9. I'm fine with Spahn and Matthews getting statues outside Miller Park someday (maybe nearer the actual County Stadium site would be good), but Molitor should be the next in line after Uecker this year.
  10. I think so. I know for a while he was a roving hitting instructor. Not sure if he's still doing that. I'll also add, and I know this has been discussed to death, but I don't think you can blame Molitor one bit for going to Toronto. The Brewers dragged their feet in negotiating with him, and then made a low ball offer (may have been the other way around, doesn't matter). Molitor's agent started shopping around a bit, and the Blue Jays offered him a nice contract. Really can't blame the man for leaving when Sal Bando basically treated him like dirt that off-season. I think anyone has to respect the fact that Molitor spent 15 seasons in Milwaukee, and chose to go into the Hall of Fame as a Brewer. There's no good reason he shouldn't have a statue someday.
  11. Call me crazy, but I kind of like Tensai's gimmick. Albert went to Japan and became an overgrown version of the Great Muta. Works for me.
  12. I agree Molitor should have a statue, and it's overdue. I started a thread stating as much in the off-season ("Paul Molitor's legacy"). Unfortunately, the Brewers and Molitor don't seem to have any working relationship these days, which is probably why it hasn't happened yet.
  13. I wonder how many franchises have had a longer no hitter "drought." You would think we would manage one more than once in a quarter century.
  14. I agree with others who say having every player wear #42 is overkill. The rest of it I'm fine with. I'd rather they just did a patch or something.
  15. It guessed George Brett for me when I was thinking of Sudaharu Oh. Maybe the creator is a big Royals fan or something.
  16. I was thinking of Paul Molitor, and it guessed George Brett first. Got to Molitor after 30 questions.
  17. I'd blame the craptastic strike zone we were given and our pitchers complete inability to adjust to it more than the manager. Don't forget the defense reverting to a bunch of Little Leaguers, especially in the final game against the Cardinals.
  18. Wow, this is great. It guessed Jesus Christ easily for me, then I thought of April O'Neil (from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and it got her in about 12 questions.
  19. The fans down there have been burned by the ownership so much, the Marlins are going to have to prove they're serious about contending. I can't really see the weather being a legitimate factor for bad attendance, with the retractable roof they have.
  20. I own two Onkyo receivers, one for nearly ten years, and never any real issues with either. Sorry to hear your frustrations with them.
  21. For a pitcher of Wolf's caliber, that actually is fairly reasonable these days. Not saying I think the Brewers should automatically pick up Wolf's option, but the price isn't out of line with the market.
  22. @injuryexpert just tweeted that MLB is implementing changes to its drug testing policy, including requiring same day shipment of samples. To me, this indicates they know something was amiss with how Braun sample was handled.
  23. I think he's just "OK" so far. His voice is so different from Provus and Powell before him, that it's going to take me a while to get used to him. I bet he gets more comfortable as the season goes on.
  24. The only worrisome thing I've noticed is it seems like he's been pulling the ball a lot. I could well be wrong, though. I'm sure someone smarter than me can come up with a spray chart. Overall I like his bat (he doesn't seem to be opening up his swing too far, and not trying to swing for the fences), and his speed on the basepaths has been a pleasant surprise. I guess I didn't realize he would be much of a stolen base threat, but he's looked that way so far. His defense is already a breath of fresh air, given what we've seen so far.
  25. Kind of goes in the "well, duh" category, but Herb Kohl did an interview yesterday on WTMJ and said flat out that the team is going to need a new arena.
