  1. There's no doubt in my mind that Attanasio would make it work some how. With Prince on a one year deal, we'd be completely be going all in on 2012, and probably be a favorite to make the NLCS (but hopefully win this time and move on to the World Series). I just don't see Fielder eating humble pie and doing a one year contract at this point.
  2. I really don't see how anyone can look at what Selig has done as a whole and not think he's been a great commissioner. Most of his failings (steroids/PEDs in general) are due to the player's union and not through his own policies.
  3. Exactly. I really wanted the Brewers to not have a repeat of the Sabathia scenario, where they offered him a big contract and then waited around for him to "search his heart". Inevitably Prince would end up signing an even bigger deal with a deep pocketed club. And of course by that point, A-Ram and Sea Bass probably would have signed elsewhere, and we'd be looking at bottom barrel options to boost the infield. The Brewers decided not to play Scott Boras' game and I applaud them for it.
  4. I really didn't think we'd be getting into mid January without Prince signing anywhere yet.
  5. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/137027268.html Bud Selig has maintained for some time that he will finally bow out as baseball Commissioner when his current contract expires after this season, but most people throughout baseball have had trouble believing it, mainly because they heard that before and it didn't happen. ESPN.com's Buster Olney just tweeted that Selig will receive an extension of at least two years at owners meetings that will take place Wednesday and Thursday in Phoenix. I think a lot of people saw this coming, but Selig's retirement plans had seemed more concrete recently. Thoughts?
  6. Jim Gantner's number 17 is actually unofficially retired, as it hasn't been assigned to any other player. I do agree that they don't need to do the full on retirement for him, though.
  7. They haven't made any offer to him this offseason.
  8. I'll do whatever the consensus is. I agree that it would be more "fair" to have an event in Milwaukee this year, but if response if primarily from people favoring Madison, I think that's how we will go. There's always the option of doing a separate Milwaukee area event, though someone else would probably have to coordinate that. Anyway, we'll give it a couple more days to see what thoughts others have.
  9. Their definitely were music videos made before MTV. It was before my time, but I think they usually aired on niche syndicated TV programs and things like that.
  10. Damon made over $5 million last season, and will be 38 this year. I think he could be a fit for some club, but it's not the Brewers.
  11. Jonathan Lucroy with comments on Ryan Braun, from 620-WTMJ.
  12. Anyone have more thoughts on it, now that we're past New Year's? I'd really like to get going on planning this sooner than later.
  13. It is strange that we haven't heard even a ballpark number for the Brewers' new TV deal, while other teams' contracts are routinely publicized. It makes me worry that even the new deal is still embarrassingly low.
  14. I haven't had an XM subscription for three or four years, but I remember the online option used to be included for free. Obviously that may have changed. I never really cared for listening online since the sound quality was pretty bad.
  15. That's the way papers are going. Print newspapers are going to be dead for the most part in probably ten more years.
  16. The problem with Selig directly intervening is that we'll get the usual chorus of people accusing the commissioner of favoring Milwaukee.
  17. I kind of hope not. Just seems way too predictable to me.
  18. All this criticism of Melvin ignores the fact that he got this team within two wins of its first World Series in nearly 30 years. I'll take that and say Melvin has done a pretty good job. Not sure what any of this has to do with the OP at this point, though.
  19. Well, I'm guessing the Fielders' permanent residence would stay in Florida. I do agree that Prince makes sense for the Nats.
  20. From what I saw of the promos that have been running, they don't really seem to fit Jericho's persona, unless he's coming back with a slightly darker gimmick or something.
  21. Scott Boras says of Prince Fielder "He's a combination of Henry Kissinger and Frank Howard."
  22. Yeah, the whole thing has been really shady, given how ESPN has handled it. I still think Braun will get off somehow, so MLB can avoid egg on its face, or perhaps there will be some technicality that lets Braun avoid a suspension. I just can't believe they'll suspend him for 50 games with how this whole charade has played out. Braun and the Brewers have both had their reputations sullied over this debacle. Major companies and people have been sued for much less.
  23. Any truth to the talk that Brock Lesnar is going to come back to WWE for a Wrestlemania match, now that he's retired from UFC, or is that just speculation?
  24. Our gig last night actually went really well. Had a great time, the owner loved us, and we made a bit of cash. Only rough part was not getting home until after 3 AM. Hard to complain about that, though.
