  1. That would be cool. Does this guy have any credability? Doesn't look like he has any sources he's cited, so I kind of doubt it. Edit: Actually he cites a "former Brewer," whatever that means.
  2. Some guy on Twitter is claiming the Brewers will announce Reyes signing tomorrow. I don't believe it, but makes for fun speculation.
  3. It's an iteresting idea, but I'll say for now that MLB teams cannot give shares or part ownership to players.
  4. He's saying that they did submit it to Barmes. Two years with an option, I guess. I'm not really excited about Barmes, especially if Gamel and Green are regular starters this coming season. Seems like our offense could be taking a big dive.
  5. I think the main thing it accomplishes is giving another team (often a small market one) a shot at the playoffs in each league, while making it a bit tougher for the Wild Card winner to advance (a criticism often brought up).
  6. I saw some speculation from Adam McCalvy that the Brewers might be another team to implement a two hitting coach system (I think St. Louis and San Diego both have two). Would be interesting, I guess.
  7. I was just reading this morning that Futureshop and Best Buy Canada have all the Playbook models on sale right now. 16 GB version is $199.
  8. I wonder how this will change NL teams' strategy in terms of player personnel. Suddenly, a player like Prince Fielder makes more sense for a NL team. As he ages he'll be less desireable at 1B but at least he can DH for the interleague games, etc. Maybe it won't make a huge difference, maybe it will. This is a really huge and important point I hadn't even thought about yet.
  9. To be honest, I had totally forgotten about Treanor's stint as a Brewer.
  10. My wife and I went last year. We had fun, but I would say it's more of an event for families with younger kids. There really isn't a lot for adults other than waiting in line for an autograph or two (if you win one of the drawings) and seeing a few displays. I'm not trying to downplay it, but we aren't going to bother going again in the near future.
  11. That would be nice. Good stuff, and his career WHIP has been consistently low, and he's only 28. The thing is that he is scheduled to make $7.5 million next season. In 2013 he will make $9 million, though there's a $500,000 buyout. I think that salary explains why the Rockies are open to trading him.
  12. I personally don't. I'm OK with the alternate throwback jerseys, but I don't really want the team to go back to the '80s look. Plus the team has been successful with the current unis, so I doubt they will change things up. If anything, we'll probably see the gold alternates be used more in 2012.
  13. I don't think Saito is durable enough to always be the setup man, so they'll probably want one more top notch reliever. Fortunately, there seem to be a lot of options out there.
  14. Good points, reilly. Conversely, though, that option might make him more attractive to other teams, and we might be able to get more for him in trade. I am not saying trade him to trade him...but there might be a team willing to give up one or two good position prospects for him.
  15. According to this site, Axford won't hit free agency until 2017.
  16. Yeah, I'm sure Parra being a terrible starting pitcher in 2009 and then getting hurt later had everything to do with a scuffle with Prince Fielder a year earlier...
  17. Haven't heard anything like that, so I think you may have just misheard something.
  18. I agree about Axford. I'm not sure what the point of extending him right now is, unless it's an extremely team friendly contract. We've seen how easily closers can fall apart over the past few years. I do hope Greinke is extending. Having him and Gallardo at the top of the rotation over the next few years would be outstanding. Not sure how I feel about Marcum at this point.
  19. It's just not going to happen. Have to remember he's going to be 30 years old this coming season. Probably too late to have him switch positions at this point in his career.
  20. It's probably a realistic possibility. I think we may see some surprising trades this winter. Kenny Williams had a quote yesterday along the lines of, "Some trade opportunities have arisen." Wasn't directly linked to the Brewers, but I just think some weird stuff is going to be happening. It sounds like Melvin and Attanasio expect to contend again, so I think they'll be aggressive and make some moves if opportunity presents itself. Dealing Wolf or maybe Marcum could be part of that.
  21. Free agency in the NFL seems to be more like how it used to be in MLB: Aging players who are starting to decline, and their current team doesn't really have room for them anymore.
  22. Rumors state that the Marlins offered Pujols a nine year contract. Not sure on the dollars.
  23. Maybe, but I think it's interesting that not one team has been seriously linked to Fielder as of yet.
  24. Scott Boras had some comments about Fielder and Milwaukee. After reading that, I wonder if Boras and Prince aren't finding a very hot market and are trying to get Milwaukee to enter the bidding.
  25. Melvin meeting with Boras today. Melvin said he didn't expect anything of real substance to come out of the meeting. "At least while we're together, we might as well talk," said Melvin, sounding not-so-enthused. "Or look at each other. "I don't anticipate a lot happening. It's important because we haven't talked to each other since the end of the year. We can see what his schedule is and see if there's another time (to talk)." Wow, Melvin not really shading his feelings at this point.
