  1. We have been using the $7.99/mo "streaming only" Netflix subscription for a while and like it a lot. I just wish they would add some more classic older movies. Hard to complain about the cheap price and not having to mess with physical discs, though.
  2. OK, but Smith didn't say anything like that. If you want to talk about moving the Brewers and also then moving another team...why not just have the one team move that makes the most sense? The Astros are in a six team division, and have no natural rivalry with any of those teams. Moving them to the four team AL West and giving them an in-state opponent in the form of the Rangers makes the most sense, I would think.
  3. Yeah...look at geography and get back to us on this idea.
  4. I didn't get mine on launch day, but I still have my Dreamcast packed away somewhere. Very underrated system with some really great games.
  5. I remember having a pin somewhere, commemorating Robin's 3000th hit. I think the Milwaukee Journal may have given them out. Anyone remember that?
  6. Yeah. I always laugh at people who claim Selig has been a horrible commissioner. He has done much more good for the game than bad, in my opinion. I think some forget that he is just the commissioner and not the emperor of baseball. It would take a lot for me to get away from being a fan of the Brewers (unless they moved out of the state or something). I've been a fan ever since my dad took me to my first game in 1988. It was a night game against the Seattle Mariners, late in the season. A young rookie named Gary Sheffield hit a home run that night, and he became my favorite player for a couple years, along with Paul Molitor. If I could survive how those two ended up leaving the team, I guess it will take a lot to drive me away. I sort of didn't follow the team as much in the mid '90s, mainly due to being in high school and having other distractions. I started following them again in college in the late '90s and early 2000's, when the team was terrible. So it would take quite a free fall again for me to not really pay any attention. As far as the game of baseball in general, and MLB's situation, I think there could be more parity, but it has gotten a bit better than it was a few years ago. I think one of the frustrations of being a small market fan is that you're inevitably going to have those longer "rebuilding" periods, whereas in the NFL you're one top draft pick away from competing, basically. Those types of quick turnarounds for an MLB franchise are extremely rare.
  7. I think the DH coming to the NL is inevitable, simply because teams want to protect their heavy investments into their best starting pitchers. I remember laughing at the Yankees a few years ago when Steinbrenner mouthed off after Chien-Ming Wang got hurt running the base paths. I'm sure they weren't the only ownership group with concerns about a pitcher getting hurt, though.
  8. I don't know a lot about Money's managerial style. I just think it's amusing that he says some honest things about a player, some of which we already suspected, and now people are calling for his head. Seems like certain people on this board always turn problems with certain players into issues with management, when maybe it's just the player who has the issues.
  9. So then you're OK with Gomez getting regular starts?
  10. Prince really need to start hitting (.224 BA and .708 OPS over the past four weeks). Who better to do that against that Cliff Lee?
  11. I will be at this one tonight (section 115). Brewers, please play better and get a win tonight!
  12. We're running up against some really good pitching lately, but it's not like the offense has been stellar, either. Fielder and Braun both seem to be in funks, and Roenicke keeps putting Betancourt and McGehee in the lineup consistently. That isn't a recipe for success. I just really hope they can get these issues sorted out quickly before the playoffs. Otherwise we will see them bounced in the first round, which would be a big letdown after such an amazing year. Edit: I also really wonder if one of our intrepid beat writers asked Roenicke about Yuni's continue starts after the game. It's so obvious he won't do anything after his one decent month. I really fear he's going to cost us big time in the playoffs. That bases loaded double play he hit into epitomized his season.
  13. I actually found that AB totally believable. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gifIt was disgustingly predictable, and thatis the saddest part.
  14. I was at a bar that had both games on. After the sixth inning, people basically asked for the Brewers game to be switched off because they were playing so badly. I really didn't care, as it was pretty obviously going to turn into a loss. The hitting on this team needs to turn around soon if we aren't going to have another "one and done" playoff appearance like in '08.
  15. It did wonders for Bill Hall.
  16. There probably would be if they were competing in the same division.
  17. It's probably a move that's been long overdue. Houston would have a natural rivalry with the Rangers, which I think would be a bonus for them.
  18. Yeah, I still don't get how Pujols wasn't ejected for charging at Morgan like that. He was clearly trying to provoke Morgan and/or incite a brawl.
  19. I really hope they split, but if they just win one I'll be reasonably satisfied.
  20. Someone should really force Roenicke to watch Betancourt's recent ABs. Maybe the fact he is a horrible hitter would finally sink in.
  21. It's tough to summarize things like that, because it doesn't factor in stuff like additional usage of the bullpen. Plus, how much better do we look going into the playoffs with Marcum instead of Bush or Estrada in the rotation?
  22. I hope Lawrie has a great career for Toronto, but I'd still do the trade for Marcum every time. With Lawrie on this team as a mid-season callup and a Dave Bush type instead of Marcum, we don't make the playoffs this year.
  23. The lack of middle of the order production last night was very frustrating. I really cannot stand watching Yuni's swing anymore (and admit I mentioned this quite a bit on Twitter last night). How Roenicke can justify keeping him in the six spot is beyond me at this point. You would think an MLB manager would see his approach at the plate and never bat him higher than 8th in the order. I know we've discussed this ad nauseum, but I am really fearing that McGehee and Betancourt batting so high in the order is going to cause us to lose in the first round of the playoffs. Prince has been in something of a funk lately, and that isn't helping. Over the past 14 days he is batting .214 with a .765 OPS.
  24. I feel good about this one tonight. I think Gallardo will have a bounce back start. I can also see McGehee having some good ABs, possibly feeling some pressure from Taylor Green's presence.
  25. Yeah, I'm not going to to the game this Saturday, but I would just go to Kohl's or something and buy a cheap shirt. I've already spent enough money on the Brewers this year that I don't want to fork out $30 for another shirt.
