  1. This. And Roenicke is giving him a day off again today, which is appropriate.
  2. It shouldn't take much. Last year of his contract (I think), and not a star like Reyes/Furcal. Of course, there's the issue of his probable bitter feelings toward the Brewers...though that could well be water under the bridge by now.
  3. Who would he replace? Wilson? I think I actually brought up Hall earlier this year...doesn't seem like a horrible idea.
  4. After last night's game, I hope they really consider it. He isn't even bringing the high quality defense to the table, like was promised.
  5. Nieves should be playing in Nashville after tonight's effort.
  6. Hopefully Braun just caught a cold or something and it's not too serious. Edit: Sounds like Braun has a sore shoulder and Roenicke wanted to give him an extra day off.
  7. Speaking of the Marlins' attendance, Haudricourt just had this gem on Twitter: Florida's Scott Cousins reportedly is getting death threats. Does that mean all 2,500 fans at Sun Life tonight will be checked for weapons?
  8. That's kind of how I feel. I think it's a bit silly to nit pick the manager after every loss (even if it's a tough one like last night).
  9. Another great start from Marcum so far. By the way, there is still a chat on this board. Come join the excitement.
  10. I like the lineup and the fact that Casey is getting a day off (clearly needed). Hart looks very good in the 5 spot right now.
  11. Agreed. Twist the knife and kick 'em when they're down.
  12. Cincy seems to be a bad baseball town for some reason.
  13. Not to bang the drum to death, but McGehee really should get a day off. Just not looking comfortable right now.
  14. Quality start for Greinke after it was looking rather bleak.
  15. I predict Greinke goes 7 strong innings and the Crew puts up about 8 runs tonight. Let's get this one.
  16. This discussion came up on Twitter this morning, so I thought it would be interesting to talk about. So far this season, Counsell has had a grand total of five starts, and 57 official at-bats. His hitting stats have definitely been bad. I think it's fair to say this represents a very small sample. However, I've seen a lot of Brewers fans saying that he's clearly over the hill, doesn't have much left in the tank, etc. I don't see the Brewers trading or DFA-ing him. Does he need to go soon, or is it just a matter of the sample size being so small that no real conclusion can be drawn?
  17. I would love to see Furcal in a Brewers uniform (even as a rental). I just don't know what the Dodgers would be looking for in exchange.
  18. Is it worth bumping this thread? The Mets are 25-28 right now in a very tough NL East. Betancourt is putting up possibly worse offensive numbers than expected, while Reyes is red hot and leads the league in several categories. I wonder if Melvin will be making a phone call to the Mets soon. As my post above speculates, I'm not sure there is a good trade fit here, though.
  19. I think the team will stay hot overall. 16-11 seems attainable.
  20. Braun is probably still a somewhat sub-par defender, but when you look at some of the slugs patrolling left field for many teams, I'll still gladly take him. I do think he has improved a bit. Early this season, it seemed like he was trying to over exert himself to make "highlight reel" plays (I remember this ridiculous throw to home plate that was never going to make it in time, which included himself falling over making the throw). Lately he's seemed more solid. I do think some people on this board have somewhat unrealistic expectations for defense in this sport, though.
  21. Fair enough, craig. I agree Liriano would be "nice", but he would be a luxury we would likely have to give up too much to obtain right now. Shortstop seems to be the only really glaring weakness on the Brewers right now. Maybe if some team was willing to give up a top tier 3B in a salary dump move, that would be feasible as well (though I personally think McGehee is going to come around and perform similar to his last two seasons). Beyond that, I don't see too much need to make any trade moves right now. Melvin has assembled a quality team this year with a strong rotation, bullpen, and position players.
  22. Not exactly a position of need right now for the Brewers.
  23. I really don't see anything compelling that the Twins would realistically trade to the Brewers right now.
