  1. Yeesh geddy, I think your standards are a bit high for ballpark food. Don't forget these were fan submitted. Did you submit your recipe? Actually in the last couple years, they have added some new options like the noodle cart, etc. There's enough variety where you don't have to eat brats and fried cheese if you don't want to. I voted for poutine, mainly because it looks tasty and I've never actually had it before.
  2. Yeah, the Astros are kind of a weird nebulous team, in terms of geography and having no real rivals. In an ideal world they would probably be in the same division as the Rangers to stir up a Texas rivalry. I think your change of putting them in with the Braves and Marlins makes sense, though.
  3. Yeah. The old sign was starting to seem dated and out of place. It looked like something you would see in a bar or something (of course in a much smaller version). The new sign fits the look of the stadium much more nicely.
  4. RyDogg, I think I really like your idea a lot. The big problem, as I see it, is that people would go ballistic over moving "traditional" NL teams like the Phillies, Pirates, and Braves to the AL, and vice versa. I personally don't like that the NL teams would be at a slight competitive disadvantage of having an extra team in each division in both your proposals. I suppose this is unavoidable until baseball expands to 32 teams, though. WTP's idea is probably a bit more realistic. The Brewers would get somewhat screwed from a revenue standpoint by not playing in the same division as the Cubs and Cards, though.
  5. As long as we're on the topic of ballpark improvements, I miss the old manual scoreboards in the fence in LF. Wish those would return. Never been a fan of the videoboards in the fence I also liked the old manual boards. Made the place feel a little more traditional. My guess is that the video boards are simply another way to sell advertising. Part of the economic reality of modern MLB, I suppose.
  6. My first would obviously be the final game of the 2008 season. I wasn't able to get tickets, and was watching on TV at a bar. I'm not ashamed to admit I was almost in tears watching that game, I wanted the team to win so bad. Distant honorable mention: The final coups games of 2005. My wife and I were up north at the in-laws, and they don't have cable/satellite. I was listening on the radio intently, really hoping they would somehow get that 82nd win and officially kill that streak that had been going since after 1992. I remember listening to game 162 on the radio in the car, on the way back home, and cursing when they were't able to close the deal.
  7. Ken Rosenthal mentions Mark Kotsay as a possible bench target.
  8. I have an RCA set top box HDTV tuner I'd be willing to sell really cheap if you're interested. I used to use it with my Mitsubishi HD-ready set, and it worked great.
  9. According to some he was using the new scoreboard to continue to gouge the tax payers.
  10. Glad it worked out for you. FWIW, I have a buddy that works as a line technician for Charter. They're not all bad!
  11. Wow, that really puts things in perspective!
  12. A lot of people probably already saw this, but for those who didn't, it's hilarious: http://www.onionsportsnetwork.com/articles/prince-fielder-explains-complexities-of-salary-arb,18897/
  13. Try doing a channel re-scan on the TV you are using QAM. I had a similar problem not long ago and found a re-scan fixed everything.
  14. I think the AL East belongs to the Red Sox this year, but I could see the Rays overtaking the Yankees and holding second place (and probably the Wild Card). The Yankees' starting pitching just does not look that competitive as is.
  15. One time during a blowout Brewers loss, my wife and I went up there and had a decent time eating some of the more "upscale" food and watching the rest of the game from there. I definitely wouldn't do that on a regular basis though.
  16. SZBrewerFan, you could be right about Prince struggling next year, but I tend to doubt it. Someone else pointed out that he's already made well over $30 million in his career. Unless he's been a total idiot with his money, he and his family are set for life. I don't think he is as worried about this next huge payday as many fans think, and the $200 million figure was something clearly floated by Scott Boras. Fielder will get a huge contract either way, but I would say more in the $125-150 range.
  17. Agreed. If he had worked out of the bullpen as was warranted by spring training results, the damage would have been minimized if he had been used as a mop up type guy.
  18. Maybe Scott Boras gave the Rays a 2-for-1 discount.
  19. Huh?
  20. They're bolstering that pitching that got them a World Series Championship.
  21. A poster on JSOnline's blog says that Counsell and Wolf will also get bobbles, but I take stuff there with a grain of salt.
  22. I'm debating getting tickets to this. Seems pretty cool.
  23. I think your mock-up is pretty accurate. That thing is going to be awesome.
  24. That might not get it done though, if Weeks is holding out for a deal just like Uggla's.
