  1. Harang looks like Nosferatu in that picture. Also, that's a very weird Brewers pendant you managed to find, hawing.
  2. I am no laptop expert, but it sounds like you may need to replace the battery.
  3. I can understand being apprehensive at the time. He was a young player with basically only one season under his belt. However, looking at how he has performed since then, the contract seems like a great deal. These are the kind of contracts small market teams have to do with their high end players in order to retain them and remain competitive. Also, logan's comment that you linked to came out before it was revealed the Brewers were buying out two of Braun's FA years.
  4. No surprise. Clearly it's his fault that the Pirates lost for the 18th season in a row.
  5. Yeah, I don't get where we would even play Beltre. I think either Werth or Crawford are probably the two most logical "big splash" signings the Brewers could make this off-season (we won't get Cliff Lee and there aren't any other real big name FA pitchers available). Trade Prince for a quality starting pitcher, and then sign one of those two. Move Hart (or Braun) to 1B. Huge interest from fans, huge merchandise and ticket sales in the off-season, etc.
  6. What could you possibly hate about Braun's contract? It makes him one of the most valuable position players in baseball.
  7. I agree. Narveson at least has a bit of upside yet. Capuano would be a serviceable #5 type, but that's about it. I don't think Parra is even a factor in the rotation discussion anymore. I think the Brewers probably feel he's been given enough chances.
  8. I would think he could be pushed up to about 180 IP. He could pitch almost the full 2011 season with a few skipped starts on off days here and there. I'm no expert in such matters, though.
  9. If anyone else has an extra, I would be interested. Don't really have anything to trade. Would be willing to pay a small price if necessary.
  10. So, did you track down this guy yet?
  11. I just don't think any team in our division was clearly better than an 84 win team going into the season other than maybe the Cardinals if they had good luck with health. I thought the Brewers could contend more because the division is weak than anything else. Good point; especially considering the Brewers are currently in third place. Without that disastrous losing streak in May, I'm convinced Melvin would have made a move to shore up the starting pitching. We could likely be looking at an NL Central title if that had played out.
  12. No kidding. The more I see of Rogers, the more I hope he's given a chance to win a starting job in spring training.
  13. Whoever it is, it won't be Dusty Baker. Reds just gave him a two year contract extension.
  14. Probably not even in the top 10. He's flown way under the radar this season. I would give it to Corey Hart. He was the linchpin of the offense for much of the season while Braun and Fielder struggled for periods of time. I'd have a hard time giving it to Axford since he wasn't the closer the whole year. I'm not trying to undersell what Axford has accomplished this year; I just think Hart made a bigger impact.
  15. Don't hold your breath. I'd be shocked if Melvin is not the GM going into next season. And I'm fine with that, personally. I think the light bulb has gone on and I think there is a strategy for the off-season. If next season is another failure, then fine; fire him.
  16. $25 million a year actually wouldn't be that big a risk for the Brewers, if Prince continues to hit like he has. An opt out clause might be attractive to Prince; and if he continues to put up a .900+ OPS, he would probably exercise it. That wouldn't be a big deal for the Brewers at that point, as I would hope someone in the minors would be able to take over 1B by that point (I know they have a stud 1B prospect right now in the low minors, whose name eludes me). I really think Prince needs to be traded this off-season though. It seems to be the only realistic way to quickly acquire the quality starting pitching this team desperately needs to become more competitive.
  17. Cain is clearly the all around better player at this point. Maybe it's simply due to having put in more time at AAA. Gomez barely had any time there and was rushed to the majors. Gomez was recently quoted as saying he understood he has to put in extra work to become an everyday player again. I think he's going to play winter ball, if I'm not mistaken. So I think it's unfair to say he "doesn't have a clue."
  18. He hired an outside firm to handle the negotiations after the Yankees said they weren't going to negotiate further with Boras.
  19. Watched about the first half hour of it last night. A bit too much focus on Bonds for my taste.
  20. If the police don't do anything, go to his school in person and talk to the principal.
  21. Has any Boras client ever signed a "front loaded" contract? It's not a terrible idea. Just not sure if he'd go for it or not.
  22. Not to nitpick, but "All In The Family" technically didn't end that way. Edith died during the series "Archie Bunker's Place."
  23. If you know where he goes to school, you should be able to get your iPod back. Be ready to press charges for theft and assault. I hope you can get this punk locked up.
  24. I could see him starting in AAA next season if he doesn't win a job out of spring training. I suppose it's remotely possible that he could be a "throw in" as part of a larger trade.
  25. Yeah, I'm getting tired of the, "Our defense sucks and makes our pitching worse", argument. I can buy that our defense costs a run here and there. I just think the main issue is that overall, our starting pitching staff hasn't been very good since Sheets and Sabathia left. We aren't going to win a championship with Gallardo/Wolf followed by a bunch of #5 type guys. I think our defense is going to improve next season with Fielder probably departing, and hopefully Weeks and Escobar continuing to improve. You can put Cain and maybe even Lucroy in that latter category as well. This staff obviously needs a #1/2 to help Gallardo carry the load. I don't know if Webb would be the answer, but it could be worth looking into.
