  1. Was Bradley really that big of an issue this season? I remember reading that he admitted that he had issues and reached out to the front office for help. I think his effect on the team is being overblown by some.
  2. Yeah, I've been surprised some pitcher hasn't been traded or sent down (though I guess Villanueva already was). With the bullpen being in relatively good shape, I don't see why they can't make room for another position player at this point.
  3. In Huntsville in 4 games so far, he has a 0.00 ERA. Small sample, but not bad to see at all.
  4. Glad we left this one after the 9th inning. Didn't have to witness the end of the implosion in person.
  5. Sounding more and more like a DL stint might be in order for Braun. How ironic after he just won NL Player of the Week.
  6. Not really excited to not see Braun or Hart in there tonight. I guess with not a lot of power hitters in the lineup, Macha was forced to try Escobar in the leadoff spot.
  7. Assuming Cain locks himself in as the starting CF for next year, and obviously Braun and Hart are in the corners...is it possible Gomez and Dickerson will be the two backup OFs? Righty/Lefty.
  8. Cool. I probably would have bought the Braun one a long time ago, save for the fact that I don't really have a proper place for it. No good "man cave", so to speak, in my house.
  9. Every team has fans like that. Fortunately for us, they all seem to congregate in one place that isn't this forum.
  10. Well, I really haven't seen anyone lay out a more realistic scenario. Going after Javier Vasquez or some other mediocre FA this off-season doesn't excite me, and it's not like we're going to land Cliff Lee.
  11. Well, they fulfilled part of the "wish list" for the rest of the season I posted earlier today in another thread, about giving us something to talk about. This was a perfectly logical trade. Dickerson should be a suitable backup for next season. Worst case, if he's terrible, they can non-tender him after next season.
  12. According to a local radio station twitter. They add that coaches Rick Adair, Ty van Burkleo, and Steve Hecht were also let go. Not totally surprising given the poor play of the team this year after expectations were so high.
  13. I think JSOnline does a good job overall covering the Brewers, but they should have at least an intern or someone monitor the comments section. I agree that the amount of ridiculous flaming goes way over the top. Every discussion regarding the Brewers seems to devolve into a, "Fire Macha and Melvin," type flame-fest. I mean, some people seriously want us to pass up on a guy getting compared to the likes of Cain and Lincecum (I forget which Covey was compared to), over a relatively measly $300,000? It's just insane the way some of these "fans" think. At least every once and a while someone intelligent breaks things down for people on there, like someone pointed out earlier. As far as the (inevitable) signing, it just shows how relatively broken the draft is that these types of "wait 'em out" games need to be played. Then again the same thing happens in the NFL.
  14. Gallardo, Wolf, "Pitcher X", Parra, Narveson. A lot depends on who can be picked up in the off-season, if we aren't going to retain Bush.
  15. I agree with all your points, wibadgers. I guess some more specific things from myself: - Braun to continue his current hot streak. I think he can finish the season with a BA above .300, restoring any lost confidence in him. - Lucroy to show that he can handle the load of being an everyday starting catcher, while doing a decent job as a hitter. This is partly selfish, as I picked him up on my fantasy team. - Parra to show whether or not we can count on him as part of the rotation for next year. - Narveson to do the same. - Rivas and/or Jeffress called up, just to give fans some hope and an idea of what they can possibly look like against MLB hitters. - Cain to continue playing well and cement himself as an everyday MLB starter for next season. - At least one player dealt in an August trade, just to give us something interesting to talk about. Even if it's just a veteran like Hoffman or Edmonds in exchange for a marginal minor leaguer.
  16. Well, given how little interest there seemed to be in Fielder in July (our only realistic trade chip this off-season), I'm not optimistic Melvin is going to be able to get anyone comparable to Morrow.
  17. Kind of had the reverse happen to me one time. This woman called my sister (we run a business together), at her personal cell phone number, which she only had access to because she worked for a city utility company. It was regarding an issue with her son's account. Fortunately my sister basically told her to call the regular office business number and not to bother her on her personal cell again.
  18. I just want them to play competitive ball down the stretch.
  19. Maybe they meant that he rose like a Hurricane.
  20. If it was something like a 2 year/$12 million total deal like you're suggesting, yes, I'd probably do it. Bush isn't an exciting pitcher, but he generally gets the job done. If he was demanding a third year or significantly more money than that, I'd say, "Thanks for your time here and good luck, Dave." Davis will probably be gone next year, so essentially slotting in Bush as his replacement as the veteran "reliable guy" at the bottom of the rotation wouldn't be horrible.
  21. Not to pick on you pitchleague, but how often does a comeback like the Rockies had actually happen? I mean, they won 20 games in a row at the end of the season. That just does not happen more than once every few decades, I would guess.
  22. They're not mathematically eliminated, but it's just really, really unlikely. It's not even so much that they're 10 games out. It's the fact that there are seven teams ahead of the Brewers in the race for the Wild Card.
  23. I don't think anyone can really claim the team isn't sub-par defensively. But clearly the biggest issue for this and last season has been the awful starting pitching. I think that was Attanasio's point. I am somewhat heartened to hear his comments and recent ones from Melvin. Perhaps they have "seen the light" and won't be signing anymore 30+ year old mediocre free agent starters. We can only hope.
  24. Attanasio frustrated over Brewers season. "This year, we have challenges," Attanasio said in a lengthy phone interview from his Los Angeles office about his team, the Milwaukee Brewers. "We know what they are. It's pitching, period. We don't have a cultural problem where we think of ourselves as losers. Even the (Cincinnati) Reds, they lost nine years in a row before this year. We have our own issues and they start on the mound." ... "We are going to have 2.7 million this year and we are going to lose money," he said. "I think it's a foregone conclusion that we are going to lose money this year. I don't see any way that's not going to be the case. If you can't stand the heat, don't go into the kitchen. We are committed to putting a winning team on the field. We did everything we could to do that with a big push with pitching. We threw a lot of money at it and it didn't work. "We are going to be back to the drawing board and figure it out."
