  1. http://blog.prorumors.com/2010/07/rumors/new-york-yankees-on-brink-of-landing-cliff-lee/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+prorumors+%28PRO+Rumors%29&utm_content=Twitter Ugh, if the Yankees get Lee, I'm going to be rather sick.
  2. I guess you could say the Heat are the Yankees of the NBA at this point. And that letter from Dan Gilbert is pretty hilarious. Not sure how he can reasonably guarantee his fans a championship any time soon, though.
  3. Yeah, they won't bother changing managers before the Pirates series, I'd think. Although they probably should. Maybe it would give a small boost to the weekend ticket sales. Hoffman is quickly killing whatever small modicum of trade value he had with this performance this afternoon.
  4. I agree. It's basically a, "Damned if you do, damned if you don't," kind of situation.
  5. I get what you're saying, but look at what Wolf cost. I didn't mind that signing, but you can't buy a whole rotation of guys like that. It's a recipe for overpaid mediocrity. I really don't want to see Lawrie traded if possible, as he seems to be the only impact bat really progressing well in the upper levels of the system right now (ie. a guy who can possibly play in MLB next year and be a solid starter...although Cain probably falls in that category too).
  6. My understanding is that he projects as more of a middle of the rotation starter.
  7. DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! I am no MiLB expert, but I've heard enough about Minor to know that I'd love to see this happen.
  8. Yeah, no kidding. That was the feeling I had while attending the previous two games. This team can't seem to even make a simple defensive out at first base.
  9. Part of me almost wants another loss to ensure the front office gets the message that this team just isn't very good right now.
  10. joepepsi, I've been thinking exactly the same thing, especially after seeing the last three games. I figured Macha would be here until the end of the year, since firing him doesn't really accomplish anything at this point. However, the team has looked incredibly bad and non-competitive; and there also seems to be a growing discontent in the fan-base. I would not be shocked to see him fired after this Sunday.
  11. Nice to see Macha finally got a clue and gave Braun a day off.
  12. Sounds like the Brewers are down on both of them. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/98029219.html#comments The Brewers this morning informed outfielder Jody Gerut and right-hander Marco Estrada that they should go home to continue their physical rehabilitation until ready to come off the disabled list. "We feel we've done all we can for them here," said assistant general manager Gord Ash. "It's up to them now. Once they tell us they're ready to play, we can take action."
  13. Yeah, sounds like Peavy could be done for the year from latest reports on his MRI.
  14. I don't know if Melvin really gets "excited about these marginal types." That seems like a big reach. It's more that these are the only kind of pitchers teams are willing to give up, or that aren't commanding insane prices in FA.
  15. I just don't see how Sanchez counts toward "rebuilding" the team when he has only two years left of team control.
  16. Keep in mind they've been planning for this basically since Attanasio bought the team. It's not like he just decided last week to put this thing in just to keep discontent fans happy.
  17. This team is toast. Tom Haudricourt with a beautifully blunt summary on what a horrible position the team is in right now. "It would be easy to classify the Brewers a train wreck at this particular juncture. Trains seldom wreck this badly, however."
  18. Boy, I got to see two stinkers in a row (Tuesday and last night). At least I got to see some really good starting pitching at Miller Park...just not from the Brewers. The unexpected rain when we pulled into Miller Park put the kibosh on us tailgating. At least we got to sit up in the club level, where we've only been once before. I still had fun; but boy, the Brewers are just brutally bad right now. Awful hitting, awful defense, awful pitching, awful coaching. Nothing really redeeming about this team at all, at this point.
  19. I don't know. I think people on this board sometimes get over excited about any halfway decent pitcher the Brewers seem like they could get. Sanchez would probably end up being another #4/5 type starter for the Brewers. He's not a long term solution; he's just another guy. Probably better than Narveson and Bush, but that's about it.
  20. I think he has some kind of injury. Macha never giving him a day off probably isn't helping, either.
  21. Looks cool to me. To be honest, I think the current scoreboard looks pretty dated. The larger monochrome screen looks very 1980's-ish. Also the smaller color screen they have now has some glitches and colored lines showing up (maybe from not being maintained anymore?).
  22. Just saw via McCalvy that Heath Bell is taking Gallardo's spot on the All-Star team. Bell certainly deserves it.
  23. I'd get on the train, but it probably derailed about two years ago. Honestly I'm just sick of hearing about Matt Cain at this point.
  24. Yeah, I agree with you here, Stevo. Sanchez would just not be a big upgrade over what we have now in middle-bottom of the rotation starters. Just because a guy is different doesn't mean he's better, or someone the team should covet. We need someone with more years of team control remaining. Hart is having a monster year and should be more valuable than a Sanchez type guy. I suppose if this is the only decent deal you can get, then perhaps you do the trade; but I have to believe some team out there will be willing to give up more for a guy tied for the NL lead in homers.
