  1. Contending teams seem to be too tight fisted with their prospects this year. I'd love to get Bumgarner in a trade back for Fielder, but I don't think SF wants to part with him at all...which is kind of silly.
  2. Texas is currently 17th in attendance this season, basically middle of the pack. I don't think the stadium issue is as big as some of you are making it out to be.
  3. The problem is that he's being played way too much.
  4. I really can't see the Rangers relocating at this point. Something will get worked out. Like the article said, I think Selig just wants to ensure some free-wheeling billionaire doesn't buy the team and spend money like crazy.
  5. Especially with the rain delay. Nice to see him stepping things up. Some others could take note.
  6. Arnett with a nice outing tonight. Hopefully it's a sign he'll be moving up the Power 50 sooner than later.
  7. Well, the park was built less than 20 years ago and financed by tax payer money, so I doubt that would really fly either way.
  8. Game back on, Cappy looking good so far. Chat room is on!
  9. Yeah, I really doubt they would just retract the Rangers. I think there would be some way to make a 29 team league work, though. You'd have to have one team off every day, and probably schedule more two and four game series. They would also have to probably switch one team from the NL to the AL (Brewers?). Not ideal, but it could be workable.
  10. I thought this article was pretty interesting. Could this be the last year of the Texas Rangers existence? Will MLB commission Bud Selig shut down the franchise? This is what Richard Sandomir and Ken Belson of the New York Timessay could happen: One of Selig’s lawyers vowed profanely in a conference call that if the judge did not approve the team’s prepackaged bankruptcy plan, which would have sped approval of the Greenberg-Ryan bid, M.L.B. would terminate the franchise, according to a person on the call.
  11. Hawing, if you can look, that would be cool. We typically don't sit in the club level. In fact, the tickets I had were sent from the Brewers, as an enticement to possibly renew my 9-Pack from last season. Also, thanks for the link. Some neat photos on there.
  12. Weirdos, those kinds of incentives are fairly typical for any long term contract. They probably wouldn't make or break Hart re-signing with the club. I think 4 years/$36 million wouldn't be out of line; though I would still be nervous about it like I said earlier.
  13. My gut feeling is that Venters went headhunting on his own, and that Cox did not order it.
  14. Here's the exact quote from Buster Olney's article: Some executives are convinced that the Milwaukee Brewers will move Prince Fielder before the trade deadline -- "If you're going to do it, now's the time, because he can impact two pennant races," said one GM -- but others are not so sure, because Milwaukee will not find a high number of bidders. Fielder would fit the Chicago White Sox perfectly, and Chicago GM Kenny Williams is a deal-maker who is capable of putting together something big in a short period of time. But rival officials aren't sure whether the White Sox could satisfy the Brewers without putting Daniel Hudson and Gordon Beckham in an offer, and Beckham is in the process of turning around his season; his home run Thursday was the 13th extra-base hit in his past 27 games.
  15. Well, that article seems pretty speculative to me (as most of Bleacher Report is...notice how all their headlines end with a question mark?). That said, I think Hudson and Beckham would be tough to turn down.
  16. Really, this is better revenge than a retaliatory plunking anyway.
  17. Macha seems to be only slightly less enamored with Edmonds than he was with Kendall.
  18. I'm thinking more and more that Prince will be dealt in the winter, rather than before July 31st. I haven't really heard one substantive rumor regarding him and what another team is willing to give up to acquire him at this point.
  19. I feel dumber having read the comments section on that website. At least a couple people called out the other Braves fans for being ridiculous homers.
  20. Unfortunately, I don't think the team sees things that way. The Fake Contention Conundrum.
  21. My favorite was, "You may run like Mays, but you hit like..." I have to watch that movie again now.
  22. Is there really no hope that Lawrie will develop into at least an average defensive 2B? We've stuck with Weeks all these years, and he's not exactly a gold glover out there.
  23. I'm not against dealing Prince (or even Hart) for a very high ceiling position player. If someone like Belt or a Mike Trout (just as an example) is available in a trade, I don't think you can turn it down necessarily.
  24. With my new Blackberry, I can stream Pandora through my car stereo (you have to have an unlimited data plan on your phone, though). I've found it's a very nice alternative when I want to listen to quality music. The sound quality is much better than XM/Sirius. You just don't get DJ voice-overs (which can be a good thing). I still sometimes miss MLB Home Plate, but I can't really justify spending $10+/mo for one radio station.
  25. Suppan being a starter going into the season was more of a symptom of the problem than the problem itself. The relievers really underperformed as a whole at the beginning of the season. Obviously Hoffman in particular cost this team a lot of ground.
