  1. The Mariners do look like they may have some issues this year, that's for sure.
  2. Yeah, sounds like he knows it's time to call it a career in the bigs. Good for him, I guess. This quote made me chuckle: "This is going to be a blast," he said. "Playing with my buddies. I can't wait for my first hit. I'm going to ask for the ball."
  3. He was actually much better last year compared to the first two seasons of his contract. His strikeouts were also up significantly last season.
  4. How do you guys feel P90X compares to traditional progressive weight training. Any of you tried both?
  5. Yeah, even the linked article just says he's "day-to-day." May want to revise the thread title.
  6. We were actually discussing this the other night in the chatroom. A couple ideas that came up: "Team Roller Coaster" "Team Tilt-A-Whirl"
  7. If he really does have some mental issues going on, I wasn't trying to make light of it. It just always seems like it's something with him, though.
  8. Yes, I would agree with that. Of course Gamel has to get healthy again.
  9. Two nights ago Milton Bradley took himself out of a game after telling manager Don Wakamatsu he was "done". He then packed up his belongings and left the stadium. Now he's apparently out indefinitely so he can get counseling to take care of his "emotional stress." This guy just never gets old. Too bad he's not still with the Cubs.
  10. Gordon would not be a bad option at all to have waiting in the wings. He's shown flashes in the past of being a very solid player.
  11. I think that's probably the more realistic way to go. The fact is that it's still a business, and while we may think it would be appealing to get Greinke while giving up a ton of prospects...chances are KC's management would not see it that way, for better or worse. Trading Greinke now would be like if the Brewers had traded Braun after last season. You just don't give up a superstar like that when he's under such a team friendly deal.
  12. I actually have liked Pierzinski ever since the ChiSox won the World Series a few years back. I just like that style of play from a catcher, I guess.
  13. Not sure this will assuage any worries around here: Melvin says not to blame Macha.
  14. See, it is pretty maddening. Why can't Macha figure out that Gomez could more easily draw a walk in the eight spot, and have the pitcher bunt him over? At least that would make more sense than having Gomez bunt in front of Braun. Macha could still see his exciting sack bunt, Gomez could still utilize his speed, and everyone's happy.
  15. I also pick Weeks. I think the day off yesterday probably helped him, and he's going to get on base at least three times tonight (I don't care if it's walks or hits at this point).
  16. I think McGehee would make a pretty solid 1B, at least for a year or two as a sort of stopgap solution.
  17. It's hard to see KC parting with their most popular player who is signed relatively cheaply, but I think your offer would be a good starting point. It's better than that ridiculous rumor Bleacher Report ran with this past October.
  18. That would be an excellent playoff rotation. Wolf is actually pretty much the definition of a #3 pitcher. It's really too bad we couldn't keep C.C. *sniff*
  19. Most cities do have ordinances about that, but I think it varies by community. It's also dumb to mow that early, because generally you have a good amount of dew on the ground this time of year. I'm not sure how it was this morning, but that's a good way to rust your lawn mower blades, or at least get them caked with grass clippings.
  20. brewmann...what? Anyway, I don't know what to think of the Cardinals' pitching success. Duncan does seem to be a very good pitching coach, but I would wager that St. Louis has simply had some tremendous luck in turning around certain pitchers. Maybe they're just better at scouting pitching talent than the Brewers are as well.
  21. I remember one game where he had a tremendous "slash" hit that went off the wall for an RBI. I think he may have gotten a double out of that one.
  22. You're forgetting they also flipped Spivey for Tomo Ohka who was pretty serviceable as a starter in Milwaukee for a couple years.
  23. his record on trades hasn't been very good since, well the Sexson trade, This just isn't true. I know people are down on Melvin after last season (and so far this year), but we need to quit acting like he's completely incompetent when it comes to making trades. It would be very hard to not get a decent amount of value back for a year and a half of Fielder, assuming there are at least a couple teams interested.
  24. Does anyone else find it odd that we haven't heard anything about the Fielder negotiations lately? I think most of us are of the opinion that the Brewers simply won't be able to get a deal done (or maybe shouldn't if it's going to take more than a Ryan Howard type deal). I know Boras and Melvin apparently agreed to be tight lipped about these extension talks, but it seems odd that we haven't heard really anything leak out so far. Does that mean the talks have reached an impasse already?
