  1. Heh, I bet Ichiro was ticked. They just released him after that game. I have to imagine his career as a player is basically finished at this point, though he probably has a bright future as a broadcaster. I'll never forget him throwing his dog (with a life jacket) in San Francisco Bay during the All-Star game a couple years back.
  2. Since it's trendy to dredge up off-season pitching targets right now: Vazquez so far this year with NYY: 5 starts, 23 IP, 9.78 ERA, 2.043 WHIP. Yeah, I'm not too torn up on missing out on this guy.
  3. Yes, but you have to keep in mind the D-Backs were only getting one season of Sexson. The Brewers got multiple quality roleplayer types, which at the time we actually needed.
  4. Is he purposely dogging it? No, I doubt that. However, he is playing poorly right now, and he's not earning his paycheck. I have to wonder if the current supposed extension negotiations are weighing down on him.
  5. I'd be fine with those options too. Then again if Weeks doesn't turn things around, he might not be worth an extension. He's been very frustrating in terms of his career with the Brewers.
  6. Lawrie could possibly be ready to play 2B next season. Something to keep in mind regarding Weeks.
  7. Well, it's a legitimate gripe since Braun is the only one hitting consistently (you can throw McGehee and Counsell in there, too). The biggest problem is that no one is getting on in front of Braun. Fielder's bad start is really puzzling and he really needs to start turning it on. Enough is enough...he gets paid to hit and hit for power, and he isn't doing that. To be honest I'd almost consider flipping Braun and Fielder around in the lineup at this point. Weeks also needs to snap out of whatever funk he's in and start getting on base again.
  8. Bush was pretty good the other night. It was a shame the offense couldn't muster a single run for him.
  9. I have to agree with that. The Dodgers and D-Backs are currently tied for last place in their division. Each only has one more win than the Brewers do currently. If we can't muster a decent record against those teams (like at least going 3-3), then I hope Melvin will seriously consider making a change. I'm not even blaming Macha 100% for the team's current woes, but like the old saying goes, "You can't fire the team, so...".
  10. I had '07 and '08 on PS2 and they were fine. I think there may be a couple features and modes you will be missing from the PS3 version, but for the $25 or whatever the PS2 version is, it's not a bad deal. Obviously the graphics and sound aren't on par with the PS3 version.
  11. He is? 23 = 25?My bad. Not sure where I pulled 25 from. Still, my point remains otherwise.
  12. Inman will be one of those guys that will finally break out when he's about 27, and then people will complain. He's already 25, has been in the minors for five years, and hasn't done anything impressive. I liked the Linebrink trade at the time, but in retrospect, we probably should have just stood pat on that one, given how that season played out. I don't really blame Melvin for doing it at the time, though.
  13. I agree with the "no need to trade him", camp. I doubt the demand for him would be that high at this point, despite his strong showing again so far this season. We may also need him around next season, assuming Fielder does get dealt. We also can't be sure Gamel will develop into a quality everyday MLBer at this point (as much as I hope he does).
  14. I'm beginning to agree with you. Like I was saying elsewhere, I'm not convinced Macha is a bad manager, but I'm becoming more and more convinced that he is not the right manager for this team. Either way, something has to give soon. The general performance of this team lately has been nothing short of embarrassing.
  15. Now do you get it? Garland's been a solid major league pitcher for nearly a decade, hasn't missed a start in 8 years, averaging over 200 innings, is 16 games over .500 and is still only 30. For a half million more than what the Brewers are paying Davis, SD got a bargain. I just knew someone would bring this back up. Davis has pretty much just been unlucky so far this year. Garland pitches in a pitcher's paradise. Today he faced an anemic Brewers offense that can't hit off any team other than the Pirates (at least at PNC). Color me unimpressed.
  16. This is pretty much the case, but gets ignored around here all the time.
  17. As far as runs scored, if you take out the drubbings against the Pirates, they are definitely a bottom barrel team right now.
  18. Well, 5-0, this game is more than out of reach now with the way our offense is going.
  19. You really think Attanasio was behind all those moves?
  20. I admit that worries me as well, and I've voiced those concerns in other threads. I do think it's a bit early to throw in the towel on this season though. Of course, this series again doesn't make me optimistic.
  21. Assuming they end up getting shut out today (and that is how the offense looks), they'll have scored a whole 2 runs over four games. Pretty pathetic.
  22. Counsell has been hot with the bat lately too. I don't fault Macha for giving Escobar the day off in this instance.
  23. I agree. I didn't think the pitch Schroeder was commenting on was as far out of the zone as FoxTrax was saying. Did anyone by chance get it on Gameday for comparison?
  24. In Rock's defense, I really could not judge what was a "ball" or "strike" last night. The strike zone seemed to be all over.
  25. I think this is a good way to look at it. While the wins and losses still count, and can make things frustrating as a fan, it's still too early to gauge individual player results.
