  1. FWIW, Charter has the game on both the normal FSN channel and the HD one (even though it's not an HD broadcast). Picture is much sharper on the HD channel anyway.
  2. Cool. I'm interested to see how Hawkins does. I think he's going to be a big part of the bullpen this season, along with Coffey and Hoffman.
  3. Yeah, sounds very promising. Let's all just hope he stays healthy, obviously.
  4. Not sure where you got the tape delay part. It's live at 2:05PM, but I believe will be rebroadcast on tape delay this evening.
  5. I really hope this game happens. Apparently they're still getting some rain down there.
  6. Today's Lineup: Milwaukee Brewers -Weeks -Gomez -Braun -Fielder -McGehee (DH) -Hart -Gamel -Zaun -Escobar SP: Parra/Bush
  7. I'd point out that while Estrada was not great, he was probably still an upgrade over Damian Miller as the starting catcher.
  8. Hmmm...that is actually not a bad idea. It would finally end the unbalanced divisions, at least. NL East -Mets -Phillies -Nationals -Pirates -Braves -Marlins -Reds -Brewers NL West -Cubs -Cardinals -Astros -Rockies -Diamondbacks -Dodgers -Padres -Giants AL East -Blue Jays -Yankees -Red Sox -Orioles -Rays -Indians -Tigers AL West -White Sox -Twins -Royals -Rangers -Angels -Athletics -Mariners The problem is that some of the Midwest teams will have extra traveling, but overall I don't think this would be a bad layout. The 8th team in the new NL East is debatable, but I figure MLB wouldn't want to break up the traditional Cubs/Cardinals rivalry.
  9. Michael Hunt interviews Doug Melvin on this subject.
  10. Game is canceled due to the rain. To bad, as I was looking forward to listening on the radio this afternoon.
  11. Actually, if you really want to even things out, but still retain a playoff system, get rid of the leagues and divisions completely. Have every team play every other team at least once during the season. Implement the DH across all MLB. Then just take the 8 teams with the best records, regardless of geographic location, and pair them up in the playoffs (1st seed vs 8th, etc).
  12. Right, that's the huge disadvantage the Brewers are at. Bigger market teams like the Cubs aren't nearly as reliant on selling tickets because they get so much money from TV and other avenues.
  13. That's the worrisome thing, logan. It sounds like the Brewers are basically tapped out as far as revenue streams. Sure, they'll keep gradually raising ticket prices, but that's basically a drop in the bucket as far as making a difference annually. The details were never announced, but hopefully their new TV contract with FSN will give them some more revenue down the line.
  14. Today's Brewers lineup (from Tyler Barnes): Escobar SS Gerut RF Braun LF Fielder 1B Edmonds CF Gamel 3B Zaun C Iribarren 2B Davis SP
  15. Let me be clear, I'm all for re-signing Fielder if it's possible. It just depends again on what the actual structure of a possible deal is going to look like.
  16. Well, her last appearance hinted at her and Michael getting back together again someday, so that would make sense.
  17. True, but say in 2014 and 2015, you're paying Fielder $20 million as well. That's over $30 million tied up in two guys. Basically a third of the current payroll. If Gallardo is still around, he will probably be fairly expensive. Guys like Gamel, Escobar, etc. won't be all that cheap either.
  18. I've gone the last two years, but probably skipping this year. A Monday Opening Day game just isn't that appealing to me. That and I didn't renew our 9 pack this year so I didn't automatically get Opening Day tickets.
  19. The problem with bashing the Wild Card is it ignores the fact that the divisions are unbalanced to begin with (which you did acknowledge). Saying "You have 162 games to win your division!", just ignores the basic layout of the leagues, and to be honest, just feels like something the old "traditionalists" would say without any solid reasoning behind it. I have no problem with the Wild Card, and in fact wouldn't mind if they added two more Wild Card teams to the post-season...they could have each WC team from their league play a short "shoot out" series. I think your plan is just way too radical to work, sybrilski. I give you points for effort, though.
  20. Me too. I honestly think they're going to be pretty bad. The age and injuries are going to catch up to them.
  21. If he suddenly declines around 30 (not that I think he will), or has injury issues, yes, a big contract with a 1B could be very tough to trade.
  22. Are you still sure he didn't bulk up enough this winter? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Man, I know it's early, but the Brewers pitching overall has looked pretty darn good.
  23. I don't think the problem is really paying Prince in 2011 or even 2012. It's 2013-2015 when a lot of the other guys (Braun) will start to get more expensive. I think a five year deal could be feasible, though, and could make a lot of sense for Fielder. If he continues to play well and stays healthy, he could be in line for one more huge contract when he's about 31. If he holds out for an 8 year deal, that will basically be his one big pay day as I see it. He'd be in his mid 30's rather than his early 30's, and I can't see him getting another huge deal at age 34 with his body type.
