  1. Yeah, I noticed it seemed even slower than usual. Maybe they are still tweaking stuff to get ready for the regular season?
  2. The ticks are going to be buying the Dodgers for pennies on the dollar due to the McCourts' divorce.
  3. Here in Fort, I had to do a lot of tweaking with my AM antenna for it to come in on my stereo receiver. Part of the problem is that the LCD monitor with my computer causes a decent amount of interference, and there is only one window in the room, facing the west (i.e. the opposite direction you would want).
  4. JoeHova: It's for the BP gas station "Come on Back Club" ticket vouchers that they offer every year. I need to make a note for myself to start buying gas from BP again, personally. Perhaps the thread title can be revised to be a bit less cryptic?
  5. Of course what is never mentioned is that the Brewers did offer Fielder a sizable long term contract, with Boras turned down. So if there is any sour grapes, it's not on the Brewers. I really can't see any bad blood between Gallardo and the Brewers developing yet. Hopefully next off season both sides will look at a long term deal. I'm sure Gallardo realizes the situation he's in.
  6. Was there some sort of fight on the field after Fielder got hit? Uecker seemed to allude to something on the radio, but I only caught the tail end of the first frame.
  7. Not that I've seen. Haudricourt said he hadn't heard a reason as yet.
  8. Gamel has apparently been scratched from the lineup and replaced with Casey McGehee.
  9. Yes, durability is definitely a concern. Hopefully the upgrades to the rotation and bullpen will help alleviate any problems with his workload this year.
  10. TLB, you could very well be right. I think I remember something that said the Brewers had sent his agent tentative feelers on a multi-year deal, but that they were well apart on the structure of something like that. My feeling is that it's probably too risky at this point to offer him a large multi-year deal. Yes, I know he's our best SP right now, etc. But he's still quite young, and only has one full season under his belt as a starter. I would give him this season to prove whether he is a solid #1 or more like a very good #2. Then after this year I would try to work out a four-five year deal with him, paying him accordingly.
  11. Reports Tom Haudriourt on JSOnline. No salary announced yet. What this means is that the two sides weren't able to reach a mutual consensus, so the Brewers renewed him on their scale.
  12. SPRING TRAINING! Wooooo! Game is available on 620AM WTMJ radio (possibly on the Brewers Radio Network as well, though I don't have confirmation of that). Brewers lineup (courtesy Tyler Barnes via Twitter): Weeks (2B) Gomez (CF) Hart (RF) Fielder (1B) McGehee (3B) Zaun © Counsell (SS) Gerut (LF) Suppan (SP) Giants Lineup (via Tyler Barnes): Torres (CF) Renteria (SS) Sandoval (3B) Uribe (2B) Lewis (LF) Pill (1B) Velez (RF) Whiteside © Zito (P) I don't do the graphics stuff, so if someone else wants to pretty this thing up, feel free.
  13. I'd pick Austin on the basis that you could drive to Houston or Arlington to see live MLB games. Also, having seen Game05's posts in other places, I don't think he's going to be interested in LDS girls... (sorry if I'm making incorrect assumptions).
  14. FYI today's game will be aired on 620 WTMJ, for those of you who can get them on the radio.
  15. Deals like this are going to become more and more common. Teams are seeing a better value in paying up on their younger guys while they are good and have upside, versus spending on veterans and overpaying for mediocrity and declining years.
  16. I think there's some merit to what you're saying, but I think the Brewers realize what a commodity they have in Escobar, so I would tend to defer to their handling of him. Do you really think playing in winter ball is truly just a "waste of time?"
  17. Actually Hart has said he actually lost some weight in the off-season, doing that "Insanity" workout or whatever. I think Escobar is just very slim. I heard Villanueva lost like 20 pounds this off-season as well.
  18. Oh gawd no. Then I'm definitely not buying it. I had enough trouble in '09.
  19. Corey needs glasses. Some interesting comments from Hart, too. "I'm anxious to go out there and prove to everybody that I'm worth it," Hart said. "Last year, it wasn't terrible, but it obviously wasn't my best. I told Doug [Melvin, the Brewers' general manager] and Gord [Ash, the assistant GM] that I want to go out and prove to them that I'm a guy who could get a long-term deal. I love Milwaukee, my family loves it, and we want to stay. The fan base has been really good to me, and the ones who are mad, hopefully I can win them back over."
  20. I assume that the Brewers and MLB actually get a cut on both ends (from the buyer and seller), since there is a service charge both ways. Pretty good deal for them, actually. And yeah, I get sick of the kids trying to solicit for stuff in the parking lot. I also get tired of how they let that vacation timeshare company solicit you when you enter the stadium.
  21. I think he was talking in terms of physical appearance. Probably too early to judge performance I'd guess.
  22. Interesting read. Looks like they are definitely projecting him as a reliever at this point, possibly even a future closer.
  23. FWIW, Haudricourt said on the D-List this afternoon that McGehee looks "good" and is "moving around well." He said his knee is fine at this point. Also said Rickie Weeks looks great, which has to be reassuring.
  24. I've seen exactly one picture that possibly demonstrates McGehee came to camp "heavier." But look at some other pics where he's in uniform, he looks pretty much exactly the same to me as he did last season. Of course all of this is negated by the fact he probably had a somewhat tough time staying in shape after having knee surgery. I don't expect McGehee to be the Brewers long term solution at 3B, but if he plays well all this season at 3B and Gamel stays in AAA, I'm not going to cry about it. I suspect others on here will have a different opinion, though.
