  1. I think he actually did have a short AAA stint last year, but that was more of a rehab thing. I could be completely wrong, though.
  2. Ooooh...possible foreshadowing!
  3. Jeff Suppan. He can refuse a minor league assignment.Well, he gets his money either way, so why should he care? I wonder if the Brewers could possibly trade Bush, or trade Suppan (while eating a majoirty of his salary). I mean, some team out there must have a use for one of them, you would think.
  4. Just got a message that Tuesday is sold out, but some tix are still available for Wednesday.
  5. Got 4 tickets in section 108. Pretty awesome deal.
  6. Link doesn't work.
  7. What the hell is with those "Brand Power" commercials you see on cable or daytime TV programming? They seem like something out of the 1950s with some WASP-ish house wife smiling ear to ear and talking about how great some product is. They're really surreal.
  8. A shame to read about this. I always liked the guy. I hope Brewers fans remember how fun he was to watch, if only for a short while. He was trying to come back with the Marlins. Righty reliever Derrick Turnbow said his comeback attempt with the Marlins was over after he left today's Spring Training game favoring his shoulder, tweets Joe Capozzi of The Palm Beach Post. Turnbow told MLB.com's Joe Frisaro that the pain in his shoulder today was ten times worse than when he broke his elbow. The 32-year-old Turnbow signed a minor league deal with Florida back in January, hoping to get back to the big leagues for the first time since 2008. He suffered from extreme control issues after his breakout campaign with the Brewers in 2005, walking 148 batters in 154 innings, majors and minors.
  9. I would guess that a rooftop antenna is probably going to be the only realistic way for you to get it. Even then it may be tough. WMLW is a low power TV station. This page on their site has some useful info: http://www.wmlw.com/getconnected.html
  10. Hey, this will actually work out for me, as the wife and I leave for Arizona on Saturday. Seems like we usually always get snow right before or right after taking a trip out of state.
  11. I don't get the big deal about starting the year out with four lefties in the rotation. Inevitably one will get hurt or be ineffective, and then more than likely get replaced with a righty. I think the team should go with the five best starters, period. If Suppan ends up with the worst spring training performance and still gets a rotation spot, I'll be pretty disappointed with Melvin and Macha's earlier lip service regarding this issue.
  12. I watched the first episode last night on the ol' DVR. I thought it was pretty good, though somewhat slower paced than I expected. I assume things will pick up a bit as the show advances (like on Band of Brothers).
  13. I have ESPN on one of the TVs at the gym right now. It's non-stop Tiger Woods coverage about his comeback. Sportscenter has that "scroll bar" on the left side of the screen that shows the next six "new stories." Every item is about Tiger or related to his comeback. I know it's a big deal for golf that he's finally returning, but do they really not have anything else to talk about???
  14. Thanks for the info. I figure we're down there for a week, so hopefully I can get him to sign just once.
  15. Well, Escobar is perhaps looking like the best option to bat in the two spot at this point. Gomez hasn't really made a strong case. It's not like Escobar will be locked in there if he struggles in April, since Macha was originally talking about having him in the bottom of the order.
  16. I don't get the whole point of discussing it. It's not like either team can't really afford to pay their respective players, even if it is a huge A-Rod like contract. I think the Cardinals especially aren't stupid enough to let Pujols hit free agency. He just means too much to that team and makes them a contender every year, even without much of a lineup surrounding him (which isn't an issue with Holliday being there). There seems to be some bad blood between Howard and the Phillies for whatever financial reasons, and I could see him leaving in the future. I just can't see Pujols turning his back on the St. Louis fans where he's basically a king.
  17. I'm not sure if this belongs in here, but apparently Capuano has had another setback and is being "shut down indefinitely." Disappointing to hear, as I know many were pulling for him. Apparently he doesn't plan on quitting though. I definitely wouldn't plan on seeing him in the majors in 2010, personally.
  18. Yes. Personally, I would guess it's more likely a pitcher will regress than a hitter.
  19. Yeah, seems like a decent enough deal for the Brewers. Lofgren could see time with the Brewers yet this season.
  20. Plus, the term "partying" is thrown around way too much. There's a pretty big difference between going out and having a couple beers, or staying out 'til 3 AM at strip clubs, doing drugs, etc. (note that I'm not saying Hall did anything like that).
  21. Guys, how is Gamel to get? The only thing I really want signed is the ticket I have from the game in St. Louis where he hit his first homer last year (which someone on this board kindly sent to me).
  22. Yeah, me either. I assume maybe they used to, but probably don't much anymore now that their biggest direct competitor (Circuit City) is out of business. FWIW, I've had some really good experiences at Best Buy. No complaints.
  23. Chat room is bumping. OK, not really. Someone keep me company in there. Escobar in the two spot is looking really good at this point.
  24. Yeah, some of the BPs around here would give you an extra punch or two. Now they make you include the receipts with the voucher, and the attendant has to initial off on all of them. I tend to doubt they'll honor prior receipts, but I guess it would be worth a shot. Also, one thing I found out last summer was that not all the BPs in Wisconsin participate. I stopped at one in the western part of the state last July, and when I asked for my stamp, the woman behind the counter had no clue what I was talking about.
