  1. That's why I don't care for WSSP too much, although I admit I still listen frequently, because at least they talk about the Brewers. Mainly I can't stand Sparky, though. He seems to take a negative opinion on everything Brewers related, no matter how ridiculous or petty it seems. He's supposed to be the main "baseball guy" on "The Big Show", but he constantly rips basically everything about the entire team. It's almost like listening to a parody of a real sports talk show.
  2. Flood Pants, I think you make a valid point there. It almost seemed like they sort of made fun of their own lack of character development this season with the brief appearance of the new IT guy.
  3. A second resale point would seem to make a lot of sense. My guess is they want to limit it to one spot to make it easier to monitor.
  4. Slightly encouraging quote from Jerry Crasnick's article on ESPN.com: "You'd love to stay, but it's a business, and it has to play out how it has to play out," Fielder said. "Hopefully I can be here for 30 years, but it's not something I'm going to stress out about."
  5. Oh geez, hadn't heard the "Fillet o' Fish" song in a while.
  6. Maybe he's just covering for himself in case the Brewers trade for him this season? Hey, it's spring training, may as well think big.
  7. The other annoying thing about the low volume is that raising up the volume on my computer exposes a lot more of the "artifacts" inherent in streaming media. Ah well, beggars can't be choosers. Interesting tweet from Tom Haudricourt: "Ben Sheets says there was 'zero bad blood' between Brewers and him after his departure. Admitted Doug Melvin was in 'no win situation'".
  8. Nice that the audio is working for this game. Is the volume normally really low though? Very quiet on my computer, even with the volume on the player all the way up. Gallardo with a nice outing...two innings, only one hit allowed!
  9. They have to guess on certain players, which is probably why Parra is listed as a reliever. They probably figure the rotation will be Gallardo, Wolf, Davis, Bush, Suppan at this point (at least I assume, I haven't bought the game yet).
  10. Yeah, I keep going back to how it was a win at HOME. If it had happened in San Francisco, then I think the Giants would be fully justified in being ticked off. But it happened at Miller Park after a Brewers win, and like you said, they weren't taunting the Giants or anything like that. As I said earlier, I hope this whole matter is settled and that the Giants just forget about it now. This has to have been one of the lamer baseball "feuds" in recent memory.
  11. That's a bit of a stretch. Supposedly the Brewers' offer was like 5 years and $100 million total. I hate talking like that was some sort of low ball offer. That is still huge money for any player. The Yankees went 2 extra years and tacked on an extra $60 million. They were irresponsible, disrespectful to the game, and threw their cash around like only they usually can. There was nothing the Brewers could do about that. But to talk like the offer the Brewers made to Sabathia was some token gesture is kind of disingenuous, in my opinion.
  12. If that does happen, I think he'll be fully justified in charging the mound and doing some damage to whoever that unlucky pitcher is.
  13. OK, you're talking about 2007. I thought logan and bruce were more referring to how Prince was quoted as being very upset in ST 2008. My bad.
  14. I enjoyed it. Pretty good all around hour of comedy. It seems like they are setting up Dwight for something interesting.
  15. That's the scary thing. It's not like we have some big 1B prospect in the minors right now (at least near MLB-ready). And I'm sorry, but I don't buy that Mat Gamel is going to put up the kind of production at 1B that anyone is looking for. Neither will Casey McGehee.
  16. I'm not sure what to make of the Inglett thing. It certainly doesn't look good if he was actually supposed to pinch run for Fielder, and Prince sent him back. As far as the bean ball thing, I can't believe the Giants were still even thinking about it. The whole thing was dumb and I hope it's "settled" now.
  17. Yeah, seems like he's ranked there based on past reputation from his Brewers stint more than anything at this point.
  18. It's really hard to accurately rank Epstein and Cashman. They both have huge amounts of resources to work with. They have both basically bought multiple playoff appearances. Yeah, I understand that if you have the money, who wouldn't spend it? I guess I just can't give Cashman in particular much credit for spending oodles of cash on Rodriguez, Sabathia, Teixeira, etc. They both spend smart, but I don't think either of them are doing anything similarly competent GMs couldn't.
  19. Yeah, Suppan's performance was encouraging, even if it's just one game. I know some Brewers fans would rather see him fail, but having too many viable starting pitchers is not a bad thing. And yes, it's nice to have Uke and Cory back on the radio. If it was just a bit warmer, I would have been outside with the radio and a cold one!
  20. Here's a pretty good article from Tim Marchman that I saw, that ranks all 30 GMs. I agree with his assesments for the most part. For what it's worth, he ranks Jack Zduriencik 5th and Doug Melvin 6th.
  21. So as it currently stands, they would play Boston? Sounds like a good matchup to me.
  22. I can't wait! One NEW hour of The Office. I'm pumped!
  23. The plot thickens. That speculation arose when general manager Doug Melvin and assistant Gord Ash were absent from camp Wednesday, supposedly out of town for “a meeting.” Did Melvin and Ash travel to Los Angeles to meet with Fielder’s agent, Scott Boras, and team owner Mark Attanasio? “All I would say is there haven’t been any negotiations,” said Melvin, who has vowed to keep all negotiations private regarding Fielder. But, what about an initial offer? “I’m not going to get into any of that at this point,” said Melvin. “We’re not going to comment on any of it. There will be speculation on it in the media.” Edit: In another JSOnline post, Haudricourt confirms from talking with Prince that they did meet with Boras, but no formal offer has been made yet.
  24. I really doubt it. It doesn't sound like Zito drilled Fielder hard or anything, and the umpire apparently did not warn either team. Hopefully both sides can consider this "settled" and everyone can move on.
