  1. Trade? No way, let's sign him to a long term deal that blows Mike Trout's contract out of the water. I think 15 years and around $600 million should get it done.
  2. Ah yes, Lou Palmisamo. Don't believe he ever made the majors. Another catcher, only briefly mentioned in this thread, was Angel Salome. He was fairly well regarded, and certainly touted by many people on this board. He ended up having personal issues, tried to convert into an outfielder, and was eventually surpassed by Jonathan Lucroy as our catcher of the future (and he was).
  3. I'll throw out a name: Jose Capellan. The Brewers traded a very solid All-Star closer in Dan Kolb, to the Atlanta Braves, for him. Capellan seemed to have great potential and peripherals, but never ended up doing anything of note for the team, and actually threatened to retire after a minor league demotion. Sadly, he died a young death in his mid 30s, due to prescription drug issues.
  4. Wow, this makes me feel a little bit older. 2007 was quite the season, with he and Braun running neck and neck for NL Rookie of the Year. A great player who didn't quite fulfill his full potential due to injuries, as others have stated.
  5. At the start of the year when this team was on a roll, it was a non issue. Did Grandal suddenly start calling for different pitches in different situations? I highly doubt it.
  6. Very sad to see someone so young suddenly pass away unexpectedly. I read an article that said foul play and suicide had been ruled out. As far as announcing a cause of death, it's a tricky conversation. On one hand, an MLB player is a public figure, and the public arguably has a right to know what happened. At the same time, one has to respect the privacy and wishes of the family.
  7. He has something to prove, and he's playing like it. Great to see. If he can be even a shadow of his former self, the rest of the division needs to watch out.
  8. Ditto, don't miss his constant, "back, back, back, back, back..." calls.
  9. I agree with contacting your alderman, and then I would probably go to the media.
  10. That wasn't a strike, and then of course that's immediately followed by a great catch by Bryce Harper.
  11. I thought they used Captain Marvel really well. Gave her a couple key moments, but didn't have her dominate the film. Also, I read that Brie Larson actually filmed these scenes in Endgame, before the CM movie was actually produced, so that kind of explains how her performance was a bit wooden here. Honestly, the only MCU movie I actively disliked was Iron Man 3 (all the armor stuff was over the top, and the Mandarin sucked with how that whole thing was done). I've been happy with pretty much everything else. Maybe I'm just easy to please. These are the movies I would have made as a 12 year old comic book geek with an unlimited budget, but done with actual quality writing (for the most part).
  12. Wow! How have I never heard of this band before? That was great! As a suggestion of something kinda sorta similar, I'm a huge fan of Brian Fallon, formerly of The Gaslight Anthem/The Horrible Cowes. Cover of "Teenage Dream" :
  13. Not to derail the topic, but is Bob & Brian still a decent show? I haven't really listened in about five years. The show started getting a bit overly political, and I got kind of tired of it.
  14. The commercial is definitely a takeoff of The Warriors, with some other pop culture stuff thrown in.
  15. Have to like today's pitching matchup. Hopefully the Brewers' hitters aren't too tired after last night's epic encounter.
  16. "Really good pitchers find a way to win, in spite of that."
  17. Youtube TV still doesn't have Comedy Central, which is kind of lame. I was hoping that would be added with the price increase.
  18. Agreed, it wasn't much of a "robbed" home run. He had plenty of time to get in position. Don't look now, but the Brewers have two on with only one out.
