  1. Lucky or not, I'd say it was a very nice play.
  2. Hmmm. We'll have to see then. I've been playing Battlefield 1 a lot lately, and really enjoy it. Sounds like V is going to be quite the shock to the system. I have the Beta downloaded on PS4, but the first day I tried it, I couldn't get into any of the servers. Hopefully they've resolved those issues. I'll have to give it another shot.
  3. I have Battlefield V pre-ordered. Not sure what to think of it at this point. In half the clips, you can barely even tell the game is set in Word War II. I'm worried they've decided to go all in for the Fortnite crowd, and it's going to be way too different for me.
  4. It's like, "What is an out?", these days? I don't get how they could overturn that. Anyway, nice start for Gio.
  5. If the Brewer miss the playoffs, I won't be that upset. Disappointed a bit? Sure. However, I never expected the team to be this competitive this year. I figured the starting rotation wasn't good enough yet. I've been pleasantly surprised the team has done so well, but it's hard to figure the team will make a deep playoff run if they do get in. A one game Wild Card playoff game against the Cardinals certainly isn't an ideal scenario.
  6. He's already commented on coming to the Brewers, via Adam McCalvy: Curtis Granderson says he isn't worried about where he'll fit in the Brewers' crowded outfield. "It's going to be a good thing, having a lot of options and a lot of weapons, especially in September. It gives you a lot of flexibility."
  7. I'll admit this wasn't a headline I thought I'd be reading in 2018.
  8. I can't imagine they had to give up hardly anything for him, this late in the season. Still, we need some rotation depth so I'm good with this.
  9. Yes, it was indeed Mr. Fuji! Good job, Raw Biz.
  10. The Vent Thread used to be a regular thing, 24/7/365. The mod team decided several years ago that it was not doing anything productive for the site. A lot of people don't realize, but over the years we've had family members of players (maybe players themselves, but I'm not sure), as well as Brewers media people and staff, visiting this site. A certain former Brewers radio announcer regularly lurked here. It's been to the benefit of the site to keep things semi-positive and productive.
  11. Decent guess, but nope.
  12. Re Jim Neidhart, it's sad he passed away, but here's an interesting tidbit I found out recently: How many of you, without Google, know who his first manager was when he made his WWF debut? (Hint: It wasn't Jimmy Hart).
  13. This is pretty funny: https://sontlive.com/listen-to-the-announcers-reactions-of-sorority-girls-ignoring-the-baseball-game/
  14. Hate to throw around "must win", but this feels like a "must win" at this point in the season.
  15. The front page was not being updated at all, and a couple years ago, the moderators made the call to remove it and have the brewerfan.net url direct straight to the forum. I don't think the lack of maintenance on the front page was due to any one person.
  16. Brian still owns the site, and I believe still lurks from time to time, but he isn't really involved on any sort of day-to-day basis anymore. Yes, we are all very fortunate he and others had the initiative to start this site and keep it going after all these years.
  17. We badly need some rotation depth right now, so I'm not against this move.
  18. Funny but true story: A local shoe store in my area used to have a newspaper clipping posted by their register, about how Mench had discovered he was wearing a shoe size that was too small, during his days with the Rangers.
  19. It could be worse. I remember back in 2007 (I think), the Brewers were faltering, but were still in Wild Card contention near the end of the season. Someone posted a graphic from ESPN that literally skipped the Brewers in the standings, like the team didn't even exist, even though they were still ahead of the next team listed! I don't know why people bother with ESPN anymore. MLB Network is so much better for coverage from around the entire league. Most sports talk radio is unlistenable garbage as well.
  20. I was *really* hoping that we acquired a starting pitcher today, but I have to believe the price tag was simply too high. This doesn't preclude some kind of move in August at this point.
  21. I...I have to admit that I'm really kind of confused right now. I don't get giving up the three guys we did for a .720 OPS second baseman we'll have for a year and a half. This almost felt like we made a deadline move just to make one.
  22. Nice tribute. I'll admit to not knowing a lot about him, so this was a nice read. My dad was heartbroken as a teenager when the Braves left.
