  1. How do they have both Salome and Lucroy play in AAA next year though, without damaging their progression? Have them each play roughly half a game with alternating starts or something?
  2. Braun's defense is fine for LF. He gets bashed way too much around here because I think many fans expect way too much defensively from players. Compare him to some of the butchers being trotted out in LF across the NL and he's pretty good.
  3. I think at this point I'd rather try Suppan in the bullpen (I have a hunch he could be a serviceable long reliever) and be done with him after one more season than experiment with a declining outfielder we don't really have a need for.
  4. Wouldn't you be more aggravated if he didn't address it at all though?
  5. It isn't designed to be adaptable to having a roof in the future, so I strongly doubt it. I suppose maybe some innovative engineer could come up with something in the future, but I hope the fans up there aren't holding their collective breath.
  6. Evidence says that Macha won't do that though.
  7. I guess the argument is that the environment will still be more enjoyable than the Metrodome was for baseball games.
  8. Yeah, that report makes it sound like he's adamant that he won't be traded to a Cactus League club.
  9. The whole thing in Minnesota was that it would have added $100 million to the cost and no one was willing to pay for it (the Twins, the city, etc). Basically the Twins had to take it without the roof or not get a new stadium in the Twin Cities. But yeah, it is short sighted considering how relatively short Minnesota's summer is.
  10. The issue with Rivera is that his bat really isn't that great and his defense just seems to be average from what we've seen. If they can save half a million or so by having Lucroy or someone back up Zaun, they should go that route. Besides, they probably won't have roster room for a third catcher because they will need as many pitchers as possible.
  11. Did you know Prince Fielder currently holds the longest consecutive starts streak in the Majors? Yeah, anyone could get hurt or need a day off at some point, but I'm not going to fret on who they have to slide in to play first.
  12. Yeah, I can't believe Crusher was lifting weights the day he died. Probably way less drug use back then, I'd guess. Plus they weren't all pressured to have bodybuilder type physiques that required certain forms of enhancement.
  13. I was thinking of driving out to check things out, but based on reports it doesn't sound like it's going to be worth my time.
  14. I would gladly swap Hart for DeJesus (more reliable bat than Corey and better defensively), but I doubt the Royals would. I don't think we're going to trick them into taking Suppan back either.
  15. If the pitching is anything like last year (and hopefully it won't be), they won't have room for an extra catcher because they're going to need a full bullpen.
  16. I wouldn't mind making the trip up to see the Brewers play there this year just to see the place. I see they play May 21-23 at Minnesota. Hopefully the weather is nice by then.
  17. Yeah, I barely watch wrestling at all anymore. The whole Chris Benoit thing really diminished my interest in it. Though with a guy Umaga's size, and his family's history (I believe he was related to Yokozuna), you could see something like this probably coming. I would guess somehow drugs may have played a part in this, though.
  18. One theory floating around is that free agent pitchers will want to see that the Brewers will have a respected veteran catcher behind the dish. So I guess that part could make sense with this signing too.
  19. I wonder if Melvin laughed when he heard that one.
  20. Yeah, Haudricourt said something a couple weeks ago that made him sound virtually positive Mulder would be with the Brewers in spring training this year.
  21. Ah, forgot about him. I had honestly never even heard of this guy when I heard the announcement this afternoon via Twitter. Seems like a no risk signing at worst.
  22. I don't mind the signing. I just hope that if he ends up hitting below average, Macha doesn't keep trotting him out ala Jason Kendall.
  23. Call me cynical, but how soon before those wooden backed seats end up getting vandalized? I think it looks like a neat place overall. The interior sort of reminds me of a cross between Miller Park and Petco in some ways.
  24. At long last, an Australian to replace the departed Dave Nilsson.
  25. Does signing someone like Zaun mean they will more than likely trade one of Lucroy/Salome? That's what I'd be really interested to know.
