  1. "Your Love" is awesome, by the way. Had a great time at the game tonight. Was nice to see the Brewers win. Hopefully they can keep the momentum rolling tomorrow.
  2. yes...i'm in section 215. Also are the bears unis authentic?
  3. someone help me...what was atlanta's negroe league team?
  4. A quick google search reveals a Reid Nichols who is the current minor league farm director for the Brewers. Wouldn't exactly be a "game worn" jersey though, as he retired from the Expos in '87. I have no idea if that's who it would have belonged to, though.
  5. No doubt. I think a lot of people don't realize how many weak hitting starting CFs are out there in the majors right now.
  6. I will give Gamel this...I think his defensive shortcoming were almost a non-issue by the time he got sent back down. From what I've heard of LaPorta, this would put Gamel ahead of him on the field.
  7. What if he declines slightly again next season? People will complain and his contract will handicap Melvin from making other moves. I would think if he's going to be brought back, it would have to be for less than what he's currently making. I have no idea if he would agree to that or not. For all we know, he could be looking for one last multi-year deal, too.
  8. I don't think anyone hates him...I just think some figure if the post-season this year is realistically lost, it might make sense to flip him for something the Brewers can use in the future. An average-ish upper minor league level pitching prospect would be nice at this point.
  9. Why would the BoSox want Prince though? I guess maybe as a DH, but they already have Youkilis, Ortiz, and now LaRoche (who they could easily re-sign).
  10. I guess the question is, if you do trade him, who plays CF next year? I realize he's a free agent, but they might be able to get him re-signed at a somewhat reasonable price. I would think he does have value even as a rental to some team, though.
  11. They don't have to sell off any real key pieces, but it might be worth exploring trading a couple guys that will be free agents after this season, or trading someone like Hardy who won't be under control much longer and has a replacement waiting in the wings.
  12. It would be worth exploring, but I just think trading Prince right now creates a huge void not only at 1B, but with the offense in general. It would probably net the haul to end all trade hauls, though.
  13. Why do people bother stealing car radios? Can they really get that much for them from a pawn shop or whatever?
  14. Dear Brewers, I'll be at the game tonight, for the first time in nearly a month. I hope a win is not asking too much at this point. Gallardo is starting, so we have a chance. Please don't blow it. Thanks!
  15. So, what I'd like to know is, if the Brewers don't add a pitcher like Halladay right now, what would Melvin realistically be able to do to acquire a top end pitcher in the off season? The biggest problem with Gamel and Escobar is that neither of them are a pitcher. *sigh*
  16. With how bad the Brewers have been playing lately (6-13 over the last 19 games) it doesn't really matter what moves other teams make. If the Brewers can't consistently win, it's all moot.
  17. I don't know really anything about Wallace. LaPorta strikes me as being a fairly one dimensional power hitter, where Gamel seems more well rounded. I think I would give the nod to Mat Gamel at this point, biases aside.
  18. Did I miss something? Are Hall or Gerut now leading off? I don't like batting Kendall lead off, but I would be interested in seeing his stats in that spot so far this season. There has to be some kind of reason to it.
  19. Good lord, like the Yankees really need him at this point. I know Wang is injured, but that would be insane if they somehow acquire Lee from the Indians. I know they won't trade Joba or Hughes, though.
  20. I agree. A nice little winning streak, even if just two wins in a row, would be a nice improvement right now.
  21. Well, I won't pretend I'm not slightly disappointed. I think giving up either one with a couple lesser players would have been worth it for a season and a half of Halladay, but hopefully maybe Melvin can find some pitching help otherwise that won't cost as much. I'm not necessarily regretting if he holds onto both of his top prospects, but Halladay in a Brewers uni would have been pretty exciting.
  22. "Brewers wouldn't part with Escobar or Gamel for Halladay. Hard to do a deal without them." That's from Dan Knobler of CBS Sports, so take it for whatever it's worth.
  23. Latest report on MLB Trade Rumors says the Brewers are basically out of the Halladay race because Melvin is refusing to part with either Gamel or Escobar. I guess that will make some here happy, if true.
  24. There's no way Escobar or Gamel get traded for just a three month rental...let's give Melvin some credit. He would maybe do it for a pitcher under control through next season, but not for a rental like C.C. was.
  25. I almost wonder if Melvin could call both the Ricciardi and Shapiro and offer up a package of Escobar, Lawrie, and a couple lower level prospects for either Lee or Halladay, and see who bites first. Maybe put out that he's talking with a couple other GMs for other top tier pitchers as well. Take the ball and put it in their court, and see which GM blinks first. With the trade deadline only a week away, it can't really hurt to get aggressive at this point. Also, SoCal makes a good point about pitchers "keeping the team in the game". It seems like when the offense sees they are in the hole early, they tend to press and try too hard at the plate. They seem to have improved on that a bit lately (like in Wednesday's game, even though they ultimately lost), but overall it has to be tough when you see you are down by five or six runs after only four innings or so.
