  1. "MLB Network: LHP Luke French and LHP Mauricio Robles." - MLB Trade Rumors post.
  2. Not terribly surprising. I would be shocked if anything at all happens in the next 4 and a half hours, seeing how no substantive rumors involving the Brewers are coming up. Kind of a bummer (from a purely fan standpoint), but maybe for the best.
  3. Wow, a bit of a dark horse on that one. It makes sense though, since the Tigers are in the thick of playoff contention and can use another SP. I wonder who they gave up to get him?
  4. It would be worth buying low on Bailey if it doesn't take much to get him. I have no idea how enamored or not the Reds' front office is with him at this point. I think Melvin should be doing anything he can to re-stock Nashville with some MLB-projectable pitching talent...it's not like we can afford to be too choosy at this point, seeing how guys like Burns and Dillard are in our Major League rotation right now.
  5. I'd be somewhat surprised if Melvin traded Hardy within the division.
  6. Yeah, I don't recall any talk of those two at all, personally.
  7. FWIW, Haudricourt says Melvin told him he "has some calls out, but no trades being discussed right now." Also says he expects Halladay and Washburn to remain with their repsective teams. Looks like Melvin may just sit on his hands here.
  8. I was hoping Melvin would maybe inquire on Gorzelanny. I think he has a lot of potential to turn things around and be a solid starting pitcher yet.
  9. Jeff Suppan officially placed on the 15 day DL, per McCalvy. No corresponding move announced yet.
  10. Per McCalvy, Bill Hall optioned to AAA Nashville "for two weeks." Kind of shocked they finally pulled the trigger on this.
  11. Pretty lame and cliched article, like others have stated. Obviously biased against Milwaukee, too.
  12. Kind of surprising to see that the Orioles finally pulled the trigger on dealing him.
  13. I think they will sit tight not because of attendance or fan opinion, but simply due to the fact that there aren't any real moves to make, or ones Melvin is willing to take the risk to make.
  14. I have only seen his spots on FSN, but I guess I don't get the hate. Seems like a fairly harmless addition to the programming to me.
  15. I just think this slow trickle of names (surprise ones or not) is just stupid, and unfair to the players involved. I'm not saying I feel sorry for them, but when they agreed to those tests it was supposed to be confidential.
  16. Yeah, he is rather entertaining. He's not limited to FS-Wisconsin, as I saw one of his spots during a Tigers/Yankees game on FS-Detroit (I think that's what the Tigers channel is called, anyway). http://www.battingstanceguy.com/ is his website.
  17. Poor Andy LaRoche and Ryan Doumit must be feeling either lonely or angry at this point.
  18. http://www.620wtmj.com/shows/danodonnell/52006247.html?blog=y Kind of funny...written by a listener of Brewers Extra Innings, apparently. "The 2009 Brewers passed away on Tuesday, July 28, at Miller Park. The season was 100 games old. They are survived by National League Central counterparts Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals and Houston Astros.[/i] In lieu of flowers, team fans have requested that you throw your Brewers memorabilia in the garbage.[/i] The 2009 Brewers were born with high expectations after the 2008 edition reached the postseason for the first time in 473 years, thanks to the New York Mets dropping 39 of their final 40 games down the stretch in a tight Wild Card race. High hopes abounded for 2009, and after a slow start, the Brewers played an extended stretch of hot baseball to take over first place."[/i] [/i]
  19. http://www.cleveland.com/tribe/index.ssf/2009/07/fans_reaction.html A lot of pissed off Indians fans right now.
  20. 4.75 ERA would make him our second best starter at this point, if I'm not mistaken. *sigh*
  21. Cabrera can't hold Cam's jock strap either offensively or defensively. I don't care if he is cheaper and younger. If we could afford to pay for the better player in Cameron I just assume we do that instead of settling for the cheap option. Exactly, thank you. We don't get bonus points for lower payroll with inferior players, or something.
  22. Yeah, they've always hated Milwaukee for whatever reason. I remember when the Brewers clinched on the last day of the season, the first thing they showed afterwards was a retrsopective on Shea Stadium. Screw 'em.
  23. You would want Melky Cabrera? Really?
  24. Got a tweet from McCalvy that Villy will get at least one more start. Joy.
  25. I think the Pirates are being smart...they're acquiring a lot of good young cheap prospects. Sure, all of them won't pan out, but if a few do, they'll have a nice young core and then they can supplement with some FA acquisitions. Really, I'm not sure what other plan they could go with at this point that would make any better sense. That said, given their franchise history over the past 15+ years, they'll probably still screw it up somehow.
