  1. Yeah...on another message board I frequent, this guy who apparently works at a Circuit City stated people should wait three or four more weeks for the really good deals. I got a decent price on an Onkyo receiver there a couple weeks ago, though of course I found out later I could have gotten it even cheaper online. I can't complain, though.
  2. *cough* There's a nice Mitsubishi 48" for sale in the trading forum. *cough* Anyway, Best Buy is usually decent...you can usually get them to price match if needed. I would check amazon as well to see what kind of prices are out there (often you can get free shipping). I've had good success with Sears, too.
  3. Kind of surprised to see he's actually going back there. For $2 million it seems to be quite low risk. Almost getting to the point where you almost feel sorry for the Braves...seems like they've kind of taken it on the chin with all of these near deals that have fallen through.
  4. Getting Lasik seems to be the new "He's working with a trainer and lost 20 pounds during the off season."
  5. Maybe they could get him to take a minor league deal, with some kind of guarantee that he would be up by the end or the year, or something along those lines? Maybe a deal like the one they gave Gagne, where if he's not in the majors by a certain point, he can go back to free agency.
  6. I guess I don't think our guys playing in it is that big a deal. They would be playing in spring training games anyway. I realize the main concern is with the pitchers, but there are rules in place to protect guys from overuse. I think the tournament overall is a good idea, as it can only help spread the popularity of baseball internationally. That will be a good thing for MLB in the long run.
  7. Thought I'd throw this out there, as I'm already advertising it on craigslist. 48" Mitsubishi 48413 HD TV set for sale. This set is just over five years old, and is in great shape. My wife and I want to sell this as it was perfect in our old living room, but our living room in our current house is smaller and this is just a bit too big for us now. Asking $400.00 for this set which originally cost over $2,000.00 new. PM me if you have questions. Buyer would have to transport this set. Located in Fort Atkinson. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3475/3292987564_1a5ee7ddf0.jpg
  8. Yeah, after reading that, I'm not banking on this guy being up in 2009. At least not until before September.
  9. Would be nice to see him get a token spring training invite at least.
  10. Nice article, I enjoyed reading it. Boy, Tom Brunansky, there's a name I haven't heard in years.
  11. Boy, can't wait to see a potential Lamb/Counsell platoon at 3B.
  12. I wonder if the Brewers could approach Suppan about possibly deferring some of his current salary. Of course, that would only be if they had to do that, like if the opportunity came up to sign someone who would be an obvious immediate improvement to the current ball club. I can't see something like that playing out at this juncture. Frankly, the thing about Suppan is that his salary this year doesn't look bad if he's at least adequate...they still have to pay him the same amount next season.
  13. Obligated to trade Cameron? No. If he performs similar to last season, he will actually be worth about what his contract is. Riske isn't that expensive...and while it would be nice to trade Hall, I doubt any team would take him right now without the Brewers eating a good chunk of his salary. I won't even bother talking about Suppan, since his contract has already been discussed ad nauseum on this forum.
  14. Hard to complain about an $88 million payroll. I imagine this puts them roughly in the middle of the pack? Hopefully they still have some flexibility to make a mid-season move if the right opportunity comes along.
  15. I think Corey could end up earning that this year. Discounting the last month and half or so of last season, he had a pretty good year. I chalk up part of last season to the usual sophomore slump most guys go through. I mean, last year was really only his second full season in the majors.
  16. Call me crazy, but I was actually somewhat excited about this. Gagne seems like he is a good guy at heart, and he pitched well towards the end of the season. Plus it's nice to think that he maybe wanted to be here again, even after the fans gave him some crap (which may or may not have been deserved).
  17. Isn't it possible that Telly might just be sort of a fill in until they can find someone more permanent? If he's only around for a few months or one season, it's not going to be the end of the world.
  18. Fun fact: Paige was with the Braves in 1968 as a pitching coach. He was basically signed so he could get enough Major League service time to qualify for a pension, and also as a publicity stunt.
  19. Was just thinking, partly from another thread...I bet some of the games that aren't televised will be early in the year when the Bucks are still playing.
  20. It's either 2011 or 2012. I'm not sure which. I tried googling for an answer and couldn't find much. I'm sure Mr. Attanasio can't wait until that thing is done for, as it's supposedly the worst TV deal in all of MLB.
  21. hawing, no fellas around here even wanted to see Ann Carroll. At least that seemed to be the consensus.
  22. I just joined Rillo's ESPN league. Others should PM him if inerested, as it could use a few more teams.
  23. Sounds good to me. Veteran reliever with closing experience.
  24. Weren't they talking at the beginning of last season that most of the '09 games would be in HD this year? I remember Brian Anderson talking about that anyway. Those 13 or so games us Charter customers got were quite the tease, anyway.
  25. I'd rather have Bob Brainerd over this guy.
