  1. I've heard Cubs fans are very nervous about their team facing the D-Backs in the first round. They should be...Arizona definitely has the pitching to handle the Cubs, I'm just not sure how Arizona's lineup stacks up against Cubs pitching. I could see it going either way, honestly.
  2. Does anyone else find it weird that it took forever for Charter to add FSN-HD after announcing they would add it, and then the ink is barely dry with BTN on this newly announced deal, and it's already on the cable system? Something was definitely up.
  3. Some day baseball will expand to 32 teams, and the issue will be fixed. They can drop the Wild Card and go to having four divisions in each league like the NFL. Hopefully they'll implement an international draft by then to help keep the talent pool from becoming too diluted.
  4. I don't think any other than those two currently, but Julian Tavarez and Dan Kolb were both Boras clients, so Melvin certainly hasn't shied away from dealing with the guy.
  5. We have Charter and BTN in HD is on tonight. Weird.
  6. I do think at least one of the teams should move. It is clear that there is not enough enthusiasm for baseball in Florida to barely support one team, let alone two. The place was Braves territory for years, and as has been pointed out, is full of transplants with no connection to the Marlins or Rays. Yet, MLB seems hell bent on proving the doubters wrong, so each team will be getting a new stadium. Down the road we will talk about the playoff contending Marlins drawing 15,000 on a Saturday night at their new stadium, instead of 10,000 like they would have at their current location.
  7. That is nice to hear. Sounds like they may at least make Sabathia an offer. Don't know if it will be enough, but only time will tell.
  8. At some point you would think that baseball players would quit using this clown. I realize he gets big contracts, generally, for his clients. You would just think the negative publicity would eventually outweigh the positives he brings to his clients.
  9. You're throwing out math and statistics talk. That's loser talk!
  10. Or the Packers...one nice thing is that there actually seems to be more Brewers talk than Packers talk right now! Or at least, it's very close...sure, on most of the sports shows they still talk about Rodgers, etc. but it seems very relegated. Lots of talk about how the Brewers are playing right now.
  11. Well, why isn't he?
  12. Except that the old logo is one of the greatest logos in the history of sports and should have never been eliminated.Well, at least not eliminated for that mid-'90s abomination of a generic logo. I hated that thing. I do like the current unis and logo, though.
  13. I do get tired of people who complain about the prices of concessions and parking. First off, compare the concessions to what you pay at a movie theater or amusement park, and chances are they're pretty comparable. Plus the quality of the food at Miller Park is generally much better. As far as parking, I'm just glad there's easily accessible parking, and I don't have to circle some downtown area for half an hour looking for a spot. The prices we pay are still probably cheaper than what fans pay in places like New York, Boston, etc. Plus, the Brewers let you bring in your own food and drinks anyway, and are one of the few parks that allow tailgating. You don't have to drop a ton of cash on concessions if you don't want to.
  14. I don't have a problem with the old logo, but I do get a bit tired hearing about the '82 team, since I was only two years old at the time and obviously don't have any memories of that era.
  15. I don't get why this series was two games and not three. Of course, if the Brewers win again tonight, I'm not going to complain in the slightest about not having to face LaRussa's team one more time.
  16. He actually played in 8 games with the Brewers in 2005. Not a lot to go off of, but he was up.
  17. No...9 straight series wins, and I believe they had the exact same record as the Brewers over the last 20 or so games. Very tough to make up any ground in the division under those circumstances. To cheer people up, I will post what I saw on a t-shirt the other day at Miller Park "It's not gonna happen...it's never happened...wait 100 more years." And then on the back: "Cubs baseball killed Harry." That got a big chuckle out of me.
  18. I don't think anyone necessarily hates Cruz. It's just he consistently performed as a "AAAA" type player during his tenure with the Brewers, and it didn't seem like a huge loss when he was traded. It seems silly to me to get excited over one big game he had.
  19. Oh gosh...let's hope that's not for MANY, many years to come...
  20. Is Gamel going to be ready to start next season? He's not even in AAA yet, unless I missed something.
  21. Nelson Cruz was the best player in the Brewers organization when they traded him. That's what Ben Hendrickson's dad told me. Boy, I've sure spent many sleepless nights after that move.
  22. I would love for this to be the game where Sheets proves the doubters (myself included) wrong. Let's see him get win #12!
  23. How does being a member of a team make you involved with the ownership of another team? Not quite sure I agree with this. By that logic, Eddie Mathews, Joe Torre, Felipe Alou, etc were all involved too.Right. From what I've heard and read, a lot of the players were actually fairly sad to leave Milwaukee, though they probably understood the economics of the move.
  24. Team chemistry is overrated. I think it probably does have a small effect on a team...but over the course of a season, how many wins does that really translate to? 1 or 2, maybe? Let's face it...as fans, we're on the outside looking in. None of us really know how well these guys do or don't get along together.
  25. Anyone but Cuban would be ideal.
