  1. He's batting .311, and has over 40 stolen bases. I think we could use one or two guys who "aren't good" like that on our team right now.
  2. Agreed. The Twins I can partly understand, because they seem to contend every year without winning anything big, but the Rays should have had much more support from the fans earlier in the season. I guess their crappy stadium location and crummy building probably have a bit to do with it. At least they're not the Marlins who had a decent team this year as well, and couldn't even get 1000 fans to one game.
  3. Well, it's true since Nintendo owns the Mariners and they certainly love having one of the biggest Japanese stars of all time on the team...but how many 100 loss seasons can any team take? They're obviously going to have to make massive changes this off season. If he's really that disliked, why wouldn't they at least consider moving him?
  4. How many players actually earn their gigantic contracts these days? Oh, and he's been pretty good lately. I'm not saying that justifies his poor performances earlier in the year, but people are acting like he's been completely terrible in the second half. He hasn't.
  5. http://seattletimes.nwsou...rs/2008204666_mari26.html "He did say that former manager John McLaren and his staff were forced to act this season after a player was overheard talking about Ichiro and wanting to "knock him out." Interesting article. Is this just frustrated teammates on an abysmal team venting, or is there more to it than that? You have to wonder if the Mariners might finally trade Ichiro this off season.
  6. I can't go tonight, but it's cool that Gagne is doing this. Unfortunately, I had to turn down tickets for Saturdays game too, due to having another engagement that day.
  7. OK, I hadn't thought about it. I do see your point there.
  8. Well, Hardy I can partly agree with, but Hart has been having a pretty weak second half at the plate. Same goes for Bill Hall...I still don't get why people were mad that he was bunting last night. His batting average is awful, so at least calling for the bunt gave them some chance of moving someone over...I'd rather see that than another strike out or weak fly out.
  9. Ugh...that's one I've had to repeatedly correct my wife on. Fortunately she gets it right most of the time now.
  10. This sounds silly to me. People were ripping on Yost for basically trotting out the same lineup game after game, and leaving in guys when they had been 0-3 at the plate, in late inning potential scoring situations. Do you really want Sveum to just sit on his hands and not do anything? Callnig for a sac bunt is a lot different than the third base coach waving someone around when an outfielder already has the ball in hand.
  11. No kidding. I was there on Tuesday, and it made for a real late night, since I live in Fort Atkinson. You'd think more people from the actual Milwaukee area would attend games...
  12. I can't find a quote online, but on FSN Final Score, they just said how Sheffield is now "vowing revenge." Their commentator even poked fun of him saying "Wow, Gary, if I said that to you, I'm sure you'd be filing a restraining order. Isn't that considered assault in some states?" I can't believe this guy was my first favorite player as a kid. Edit: This link has some quotes: http://www.freep.com/apps...S02/809230374/1048/sports
  13. I want no part of Jason Giambi. Abreu isn't a bad idea, though.
  14. There was definitely some booing, but I wouldn't say it was an overwhelming amount.
  15. Yes. In fact, I believe he popped out TWICE on sac bunt attempts last night. So in that sense, I do hate sac bunts as well.
  16. Why? It seemed to work more often than not last night.
  17. I thought the crowd was pretty good last night. Yes, they booed Bush and Mota, but I think those instances were relatively deserved, and partly due to past performances. Some people also booed Gagne again when he came into the game. Again, it's been said here before, but booing is a part of sports, and it happens all over, not just Milwaukee. I wish people would get over that. Overall I thought it was a nice atmosphere. A lot of "Let's Go Brewers!" chants throughout the night, and I have rarely heard the crowd louder than when Prince hit the walk off homer. I have to dole out minus points to the knuckleheads who were trying to start the wave from the bleachers... IN THE 9TH INNING OF A TIED GAME!
  18. Didn't see this discussed anywhere else, so sorry if it was. I hadn't heard about it, probably because it involved two teams eliminated from contention. If you missed it, Gary Sheffield got beaned during an at bat on Friday against the Indians. The pitcher made a pickoff throw to 1st, and at that point, Sheffield got angry and charged the pitcher, resulting in a brawl on the field. He was supsended for four games starting yesterday. Rotoworld summed it up pretty well: "Sheffield started the melee by charging the mound from first base, yet he gets suspended for just one more game than Victor Martinez and Asdrubal Cabrera. It must be because of the sterling reputation he's developed during his career. Sheffield said he will begin serving the suspension immediately."
  19. Not really. It's more of a tie breaker game...basically game #163 on the schedule. At least that's how I would see it.
  20. Bill Schroeder was on 540 earlier and said he suspects Suppan still has nagging injury issues. He sounded pretty confident about that.
  21. One tidbit I heard today, and I wasn't sure where to put it...Trenni from FSN was on 540 AM earlier this morning, and talked about how she thinks the fans will be very supportive. She also thinks they should have a great chance against the Pirates (OK, no real news there). The interesting thing she talked about is how low the morale is with the Pirates. She mentioned the terrible ownership, which has been well documented, being how cheap they are, etc. The more interesting thing was that the ownership is known for not taking good care of the players, or even their families, and how FSN Pittsburgh isn't even going to bother broadcasting the final three games of the Pirates' season (which is somewhat understandable as they are in San Diego and would go up against college and NFL football over the weekend). Just thought I'd pass that along. It really shows you the difference between the two franchises now, which were sort of co-cellar dwellers just a few years back.
  22. Exactly. The Brewers have gotten all the help they can possibly hope for to stay in contention. They need to do their best to win these next two series to have any realistic hope. Hopefully they build on their win from Sunday.
  23. I really dislike this trade. Overbay and Rolen wouldn't be that useful for the Crew, and they'd be giving up a ton in Escobar and Fielder. I like the creativity you used to come up with this one, but I think I'd pass.
  24. I'm not so sure now that they're only 1 game back in the Wild Card standings. Hopefully people will be smart enough to realize how close we are and give the Brewers their 100% full support for these final six games.
  25. Yeah, I think a lot of us definitely agree with that.
