  1. I think Melvin should be back for one more season, at least. While some of the moves he made didn't quite work out, I've thought by and large all the moves he made were the right ones at the time. Suppan, while extremely mediocre (and even pretty bad lately) has done about what could be expected of him. Gagne has been pretty terrible, but the one redeeming thing about signing him was that it was for only one year. I don't really get why people complain about the salary, though...I don't really see how else that money would have been spent. We had all the position players and starting pitching we needed, and I don't remember any other decent relievers being out there. So we overpaid the guy so he would sign a one year contract...I think it made sense at the time. If anything, Doug Melvin should get some extra credit for signing Ryan Braun to a long term deal that could look pretty outstanding in another year or two.
  2. You have no evidence to support that claim, even though you and others continually suggest it.
  3. There's no real evidence for any of that. Just speculation on the part of some.
  4. I agree with this 100%. Booing is a part of sports. Some people here need to quit pretending that attending a baseball game always has to be a high class, analytical type of event.
  5. It seems like it would be more appropriate to wear black to the games going forward. I didn't watch the game last night, and boy, I think that was a wise decision.
  6. I sent an (admittedly relatively small) paypal donation this morning. I never donate to websites, but figure I've spent so much time on this website over the last few years, I owe something. Thanks BF.net!
  7. Sounds good to me. He's been way better than anyone had a right to expect this year.
  8. sheethead, terrible compared to who? Vin Scully? I don't get why people rip on BA so much around here. He really does a pretty good job.
  9. Yesterday really made me angry. It pretty much ruined what was otherwise a decent day for me. I just can't take this team throwing away chances anymore. My plan is to pretty much avoid watching any of the games against the Reds. I'm sure I'll still check the scores and stuff, but I can't take losses like yesterday's this late into the season, when the team has come so close. I will be going to the game this coming Tuesday against the Pirates, since some friends got tickets and are bringing us. Depending on how things go this weekend I'll either be cheering full on, or taking a very passive approach to watching the game.
  10. How does this even happen? I'm still stunned.
  11. As long as Bush keeps us in the game, I think we have a good shot building on yesterday's win.
  12. Well, this probably explains quite a bit.
  13. I also suspect he'll pitch at least once more before the end of the season. How many innings that will be good for...who knows?
  14. Actually, if LaPorta were still around, my choice would be Braun back to third, Hall to the bench or dealt. I'm amazed nobody is kicking around going back to Braun-Hardy-Weeks from third to second. Amazed? Braun was a butcher at 3B last year, and has no errors this year in LF. Why would anyone want to move him again at this point?
  15. "But he has great stuff when he's on!" No one can defend him at this point. The man is made of glass. Brittle broken glass.
  16. If we can just string together a few wins...
  17. It's www.brewers.com/postseason9pack. You will need your account number. I guess we're still going to buy ours, even though the prospects of actually being able to use them are getting pretty dim.
  18. Well, the Brewers have already been promoting their "Winter Warmup" ad nauseum. Does anyone even want to think about that right now?
  19. I sure hope so. The Brewers have had more than their share of "rookie" managers. I think it's time to get someone with actual playoff experience at the helm, not someone who is going to learn on the job.
  20. I think I need a break from the Brewers, but I can't stop watching, no matter how bad they're struggling lately. Fortunately, I've never thrown or punched anything. I did yell quite a bit after Fielder struck out last night, though.
  21. I think most of us are definitely pulling for a strong Sheets performance. If we lose again tonight, the season is looking extremely bleak (even more so).
  22. Ditto. They at least looked like they were trying to win, as opposed to when they were in Philly and it looked like they just wanted to roll over and get out of town.
  23. A series versus the ChiSox would be awesome.
  24. As far as Kennedy, I admit I didn't follow his managerial career in the mid '90s much, but know he had some success with both the Rangers and Red Sox. That said, from listening to him many times on XM, I think he'd be more in the Ned Yost mold, rather than some fiery guy who people seem to be looking for right now. I guess the impression I have of him is someone who will basically just let the guys play, kind of like Ned. He probably would hold people accountable for failing, though, which would be a plus. On the point of Valentine...I could well be wrong, but I heard he is paid very well in Japan and enjoys being there, despite the talk that he could come back to MLB at some point.
