  1. Well, hopefully MLB's schedule makers are smart and keep the Twins on the road for the majority of the early and late part of the season...but it's not like they can be on the road for three to four weeks straight, either.
  2. I think it's destined to be LaPorta as well. The Brewers seem set with their corner outfielders (though possibly Corey Hart could move to center), and it sounds like Gamel would fit more as a 3B type.
  3. Well, the Metrodome is definitely not an enjoyable place to watch a game. It feels like a weird high school gym on the inside, and the sight lines suck (at least for baseball). Their ticket prices are pretty much in line with what the Brewers charge at Miller Park, last I checked, but the difference is the quality of the presentation is nowhere near as nice. I think that years of "Well, we're a good team, but we keep missing a good run in the post-season", as well as pretty much always trading their best players, have probably worn on Twins fans somewhat, too.
  4. It's an interesting story from a stats perspective, nothing more. Yost has no reason to be concerned about something like this.
  5. What were they promoting anyway?
  6. Argh...not to get way off topic, but why do half the topics on this board have to devolve into debating semantics? I realize a poster on here was kind of going out of bounds, but it gets kind of old. Anyway, the Brewers seem to be on track right now...I think we'll have a pretty good idea of Melvin's abilities to help the Brewers this year after July 31st.
  7. Only 4.5 games out of first place now. If this trend continues, Brewers will and should definitely be looking to add a big piece.
  8. Linebrink's career as a whole has indicated he's probably more than "a solid pitcher" as far as relievers go.
  9. They will probably provide you with a component cable to hook it up. That's what they did for me. That reminds me, I still have to send in that little survey card I got in the mail.
  10. I'm not ready to call one series loss to a decent AL team the beginning of a patented Cubbie Curse crash, but we can only hope!
  11. Genius? No, I don't think you can call any manager a "genius" these days. He was regarded as doing a great job, and known for his excellent bullpen handling though. I don't see why some fans have to be so incredibly and stubbornly reluctant to give any sort of real credit to the manager when his team is winning. In some people's minds, it seems that the skipper's sole reason for existence is to be raked over the coals when the team loses, fill out lineup cards, and that's basically it.
  12. Well, clearly Linebrink didn't perform all that well for the Brewers. I was in favor of the trade at the time, but in retrospect, I think it would have been better to not bother and take a flyer on '07, the way things went. That's total hindsight being 20/20, though. The logistics of the trade also kind of sucked...it seemed like Linebrink didn't even want to come to Milwaukee, and was in the midst of his wife having a baby. Now of course he's in Chicago and performing quite well.
  13. To clarify, is this an actual rumor your heard, or a proposal you're suggesting?
  14. Heard talk on XM this afternoon of Tampa Bay possibly being in the CC Sabathia sweepstakes. That would be something. Although, I would rather see us get him (if it doesn't cost us too much, etc).
  15. Not to nit pick, but how do you know this for sure?
  16. Crew07, you are right that acquiring one player assures nothing. However, barring key injuries, obtaining CC Sabathia or a similar caliber pitcher would make their chances of making the playoffs even better. That is the goal this time of year when considering trades, when the Brewers are in the current position they are.
  17. He looks a bit more muscular to me this year...I could be totally wrong, though. It's safe to say, the guy isn't dumb...I'm sure he probably hit the gym pretty hard this past off-season.
  18. Definitely get what you're saying, and I agree 100%. Like I said hinted at earlier, you can probably take any player, find one stat where they don't excel and say "He's not very good at ______". Doing so with a 24 year old player is even more dicey.
  19. So you have no interest in seeing this guy pitch for the Brewers at all?
  20. I'm giddy. Just the thought of this kind of move is making me excited. The question is...how soon would we have to wait to see something like this done? Close to July 31, realistically, I'd assume.
  21. He looks like he's in better shape to me, but that is just my opinion.
  22. Oswalt might waive it to go to a team with a good shot at getting to the post-season like the Brewers, though. You never know.
  23. Well, to be fair, Linebrink was having a pretty decent year before we traded for him last season, though nowhere near as good as Fuentes seems to be doing. I don't know...it almost seems like we're overloaded with relievers right now. Gagne is coming back soon, and Torres is doing quite well in the closer role. We already have Riske, Mota, etc. I think down the stretch another proven starter would be more valuable than another reliever. The upside with Fuentes is that he doesn't have a huge contract...we'd only have to pay him a couple million or so this year, if I understand correctly. Also, as was pointed out, the Brewers could maybe extend him with a relatively modest contract.
  24. I doubt he's gone on record about that. It seems hard to rule out at this point, though.
  25. One other point (which I think was touched on earlier) is that I doubt Sheets is eager to go to a big media market like New York or LA. If he does go elsewhere, it will probably be somewhere close to home (Texas, or Houston), or a "good baseball town" that can add on payroll, like a St. Louis. Can you imagine what he'd have had to endure the last few years if he had been pitching for the Yankees or Red Sox, for example? Comments like "Brittle Ben" would have been the least of it.
