  1. After going to the Packers-Seahawks pre-season game at Lambeau last month and sitting through constant sprinkling (and we were dressed appropriately and had ponchos), I appreciate Miller Park even more. Yeah, it wasn't raining Saturday, but it was still nice to have it closed and a bit warmer than it was outside.
  2. A trick I learned this weekend (which I bet a ton of people already know): If you have a cell phone with text messaging, you can send a basic text message like "MLB CUBS" to GOOGLE (type in the numbers for each letter in GOOGLE), and a few seconds later you'll get a text message with the score for the current Cubs game (or whatever team). It just costs a standard text messaging fee.
  3. Yeah...well, he's going to have to show a little more before I want to hear anymore talk about some huge extension for him.
  4. Ben Sheets is not an ace right now. That is all.
  5. I don't think this is the Cardinals year, but I hope they sweep the Cubs this weekend. I'm actually going to Miller Park both Saturday and Sunday. Should definitely be an exciting weekend for baseball.
  6. Anyone else notice that Point now has different varieties of beer for sale in six packs? They seem to be trying to get some of Leinenkugel's market, and their prices are a little lower. I had some of their Belgian-style White Bier (I think that's what it was called), and it was decent, but didn't blow me away. Similar to Blue Moon. I'm kind of like burniebrewer otherwise...I like to try different types of beer, but I'm not into a lot of the microbrewery stuff, and High Life is pretty much my "go to" beer. Don't care much for Miller Lite at all, and can't stand any Budweiser products at all.
  7. Why not just call the Brewers ticket office if you're that interested in detailed information?
  8. Question on pre-ordering for next year: On brewers.com, the prices listed are a down payment for each ticket package. Does anyone know what percentage this works out to? Like, would I have to shell out $250 per terrace seat (just going off of memory from looking last night), and then have to pay a couple hundred more later on? Obviously, the big attraction is the chance to buy playoff tickets for this post-season, assuming the Brewers make it in.
  9. So the move must have went pretty easily? I was suprised when we moved our 48" Mitsubishi rear projection...I figured I would have to do at least some tweaking of the alignment, or adjust the video settings, but it turned out perfect. We were pretty careful with it, though, and our move was only about a 15 minute drive.
  10. The officiating all year has just been terrible, it seems like. Maybe it is every year, and it's just more noticeable now that the Brewers are playing games that mean something.
  11. In the past FSN has picked up some late season games that weren't originally on the schedule, so maybe it could happen again this year.
  12. I'm getting sick of these arguments. If he had a prescription, and it wasn't against MLB rules, what is the big deal? You can still go to a doctor and get a prescription for steroids under the right circumstances, you know. I think fans and commentators need to quit playing physician or lawyer. If he somehow did something illegal, then fine, throw the book at him. However, it sounds like that is not the case, so let's quit with the moral indignation.
  13. YOSTED~! Seriously, though, this is pretty cool. On brewers.com, you can vote for "heads or tails" in the coin flip that will determine potential home field advantage in the event of a Brewers-Cardinals playoff game.
  14. My first job was working at a Subway...worked there every summer 'til I finished high school, at which point I took summer jobs working in factories and such (which made me vow to never work in a factory after finishing college). Subway was all right, though pretty boring. In retrospect, I think I was too nice to some of the losers that came in there, but I was just a humble high school kid.
  15. I can't get in again today, either. I'm using IE right now. Guess maybe I should try Firefox. Managed to get in using Firefox...IE wasn't working for me for some reason.
  16. Yeah, I asked this before in the chat, and kind of got jumped on...but I thought Braun was just ethnically Jewish, but doesn't observe the relgious beliefs? I could be mistaken. I know it's often a pretty blurred line between the two, but then again it's possible to celebrate the Jewish faith without being an ethnic Hebrew...just look at the Ethiopian Jews, for example.
  17. What realistic chance do the Brewers have of signing Fukudome, though? I'd say "slim to none."
  18. Exactly, which is why I think it's funny every off-season when people say that the free agent is "inflated". When is the last time contracts paid out have actually gone down? I'm guessing never, or maybe only after a strike year.
  19. It would all be a moot point if they'd just instituted the international draft.
  20. Again, it's not that I don't like Sheets, but I wouldn't be eager to give him a huge new contract until he can prove he can stay healthy/uninjured on a more consistent basis.
  21. I think the biggest change for next season will be the manager. Other than that, they will probably pick up one or two bullpen arms, and hopefully sign a big bat for the outfield.
  22. 5 years/$60 million for Ben Sheets? Do people seriously want to lock him up for that long? I just don't get it, based on his track record with the team. I'd try and see if he'd go for a two or three year extension, with dollars similar to what he's getting now. Anything beyond that, and I'm pretty uncomfortable...and I'm usually in the camp that says "It's not my money to spend."
  23. I wouldn't see the point in firing Melvin right now. He's been a fantastic GM. I can concede that the Linebrink trade hasn't worked all that well so far, and you can argue the Suppan signing either way, but Attanasio was behind that one with Melvin, apparently. The only real reason to fire Melvin would be if Attanasio decides that the current plan isn't working, and it's time for a change in direction. Unfortunately for him, that would probably also mean he needs to open the wallet even further, and I just don't know if that can realistically happen. Let's face it though, Attanasio has been a great owner for the Brewers so far, and you can't fault him for not spending money, given how much payroll has increased.
  24. Well, call me a masochist, but I'm going to be following this team for the next two games. If they fail to take the series, I'm not getting off the Brewers bandwagon, but I'm not going to follow the team actively anymore, at least for a while. Maybe that makes me a fair-weather fan, but we haven't seen any fair-weather in these parts for a long time. Oh, and I have tickets to two more games this season, in September. At least I'll get to see some of the young guys and Vinny Rottino from AAA. :P
