  1. The way Souptown worded it, I took it as implying it would be a policy for every team in the league. My bad if that wasn't the case.
  2. The union would throw a fit and scream "collusion" and probably win in court.
  3. I had missed this the other day. A shame. He was one of the dominant pitchers of the late '80s when I was first getting into baseball. Didn't realize he was the last MLB pitcher to win at least 25 games either.
  4. And whose fault is that? That's all that entire radio station talks about. Don't get me wrong, I love the Packers but when you're constantly talking about friggin' OTAs, I'm changing the station because that is not interesting at all. Not to go way off topic, but I find that 540 ESPN is the main culprit for really over-blowing the Packers talk (Jason Wilde being on constantly, etc). I think WSSP is a bit more rounded in their sports coverage.
  5. Hey everyone. I heard an interesting topic on WSSP this morning that I thought would be worth discussing. Chuck & Wickett were talking about how there doesn't seem to be a lot of "buzz" about the Brewers right now, even though they're a first place team and 12 games over .500 right now. First place most of the season, multiple players having great years, etc. Yet the talk right now for many seems to be on Packers practices and the Bucks' upcoming draft pick. It does seem like the interest level is a bit more "muted" than in 2008 or 2011. Is it just "been there, done that" at this point, or are people still not buying into this team yet?
  6. Mets fans have been in a comatose for a few years They have a great stadium though... I thought the concensus on Citi was that it's a really generic ballpark?
  7. In the article, it just says Anderson will be a fill-in type and only do games in November and December (ie. after the MLB playoffs are finished). If Anderson leaves, this won't be the main reason.
  8. Uecker is 80 and has basically said he has no plans to retire in the near future.
  9. They probably already knew the person they wanted to hire and the whole "interview" process was simply a formality they had to go through and they didn't want to waste your time. Yeah, that seems to happen quite a bit. My wife went through similar experiences when she was still in education.
  10. That's my big problem with it. From what I've read and heard second hand, there's often not a lot of form instruction or correction at some of the Crossfit "boxes". People get "thrown into the fire" whether they're ready or not. Something can be challenging or even grueling, but still be safe. That said, I'd rather see someone pushing themselves at Crossfit than peddling on a bike for 25 minutes at a leisurely pace while reading a magazine and thinking that's a real workout (assuming that's not all they can physically do).
  11. As someone who works in the fitness industry, I'll say there are some really good basic concepts in Crossfit. However, with how some of the "boxes" are run and the workouts are conducted, there are some major safety and long term health concerns. There is an element in Crossfit that seems to push people to drive themselves past reasonable and safe physical limits during their workouts. There are also videos all over the internet of people doing exercises at Crossfit gyms that are just inherently dangerous and have minimal real world physical benefit. I do know a lot of people who train at Crossfit locations and are in great shape, so I'm not saying they don't get results, though. I also heard second hand that one of the local physical therapists tells people, "Crossfit sends me a ton of business." Take it for what it's worth.
  12. Oh man, I could say so much... But yeah, I petty much agree.
  13. Probably, but more for the fact that they got JJ Hardy for him than anything.
  14. I think they should still have the fans vote, but have the fan vote count for 50% and have a player vote that counts for the other 50% (ie. proportionally to the fan vote). Managers would still pick the starting pitcher and fill out the rest of the roster, etc. Players wouldn't be able to vote for guys on their own team to make it really fair.
  15. I was against the signing at the time, mainly due to having to give up a first round draft pick. However, with how fantastic Lohse has been, it's really hard to stand with my original feelings. He's really been the shot in the arm the Brewers' rotation needed.
  16. Along the same lines...Grandview ave. in Waukesha. No construction, but they have made changes to the traffic light patterns over the last year that are ridiculous. Grandview is fairly heavily traveled, especially during rush hour. Some of the lights for side streets that cross or feed on to Grandview are clearly way too long for the amount of traffic on these side streets (compared to the volume of traffic on Grandview). I know exactly the area you mean. It really is a pain to try to get anywhere around that time. I had to stop by the Batteries Plus down there a while ago, and I'd swear the horrible traffic tacked on about an extra half hour to what should have been a simple errand. Seems like there is way too much traffic in that area for what the streets were designed to handle.
  17. We were at this one yesterday. What a stinker. We left after the 7th inning. Frankly though, I think they just ran into a good pitcher and couldn't get the timely hits when needed. Not much to say other than to come back today and try to secure a series win.
  18. Done. This thread has seemed to run it's course, and just going in circles, as others have noted. A new thread can be started if folks want to discuss Wang's MLB performance specifically.
  19. That's incredible that he's so close to those two, and he's only 30 years old.
  20. I had a guy like that once. He had only been around a couple weeks, but then no showed two days in a row. I called him and left him a voice message, telling him I accepted his resignation. He called back and tried to pretend he'd been laid off. I wasn't too amused.
  21. I would lose my mind on that one. BY TEXT????!!!! Grow the heck up! (would like to use other words) That is the weakest move ever.[/quote It's slightly better than the always wonderful "no call, no show" quit that I've had happen a couple times too.
  22. People who quit via text message with no advance notice, especially after they just received a significant raise.
  23. Wolf is not a good pitcher anymore and they should be able to tee off on him. No excuses. Of course, we have a rookie pitcher debuting so hopefully that goes well. Edit: Actually, Nelson started one game in 2013, but you know what I mean...
  24. Are their fans calling for for the GM to be canned again like they were with Epstein when that team started to fall apart?
