  1. I'll go with the outside the box idea proposed in a other thread: Michael Fiers.
  2. Rosenthal saying that the Mets are discussing both Wheeler and Asdrubal Cabrera with the Brewers.
  3. It's almost like Stearns knows what he is doing!
  4. I'm very late to the thread, but I'll just say that overall, I like this trade. Our bullpen is doing great right now, but inevitably as the season goes along, one or two guys will get hurt or worn out. Soria is a veteran who apparently still has a lot of mileage left on his arm this season. His numbers since changing his delivery are phenomenal. I really doubt the Brewers are going to pay a reliever $10 million next season. This trade was about making the playoffs this year. I get that some are sad to see Medeiros go, but seriously, our minor league system is stacked right now. Who knows if there would have even been room for him on the 40 man next season? Also, I'm surprised Counsell is still talking about "the closer role." Hopefully that is just a generic MLB talking point type of answer. He's shown he can usually manage the bullpen effectively without worrying about "roles", so I hope that continues.
  5. That has to be one of the more shallow, yet successful sac flys I can ever remember seeing. Nice way to win it.
  6. Braun looks lost up at the plate right now. Why is he still batting cleanup?
  7. I think funding Miller Park, at the time, was the right call, but we've learned a lot about public projects and local economics over the past 25 years. These stadium projects almost never lead to all the touted economic growth that is predicted to happen. It almost always boils down to vague notions like "civic pride" to really justify them.
  8. Looks cool, but yeah, that market won't get this done. I remember roughly ten years ago, they had a proposed stadium with a "sail" type design that never went anywhere either.
  9. Yelich, Cain, and Hader all in via Player Vote. Pretty special. Yes, Aguilar and Jeffress also absolutely deserve to be in as well, though.
  10. Guys, we've known the East Coast bias is real for years. Let's stop obsessing about it. I basically never watch ESPN anyway, so I really don't care how they do or don't cover our team. Like others have said, MLB Network is where it's at for "fair and balanced" baseball coverage.
  11. Aguilar has to make it in, doesn't he? I think there's good chance Jeffress makes it as an alternate for another reliever.
  12. It's been discussed here before, but that HoChunk ad is the worst. What era is that couple even supposed to be from? I can't figure it out.
  13. Yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of the blockbuster trade that brought CC Sabathia to the Milwaukee Brewers. Post your thoughts and memories of the trade here. Personally, I wouldn't trade those 2008 memories for anything. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2018/07/06/13-things-you-forgot-brewers-acquisition-cc-sabathia/759090002/
  14. Match 1: team 1) The Rock. Stone Cold, Shawn Micheals. Macho Man, Sting Team 2) Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Andre the Giant. Undertaker, Goldberg - Match is an epic encounter, but I agree with sentiment above that Andre is the difference maker. I think Andre and Hogan would end up the survivors here, to tease a future matchup. Match 2: Team 1) HHH, Bret Hart, Braun Strowman, AJ Styles, The Giant Team 2) Hall, Nash, Ric Flair, Kurt Angle, Brock Lesner - Very tough one to decide here. I think Hall and Nash get counted out brawling with opponents outside the ring. Flair, Angle, and Lesnar win the match. Match 3: Team 1) Yokozuna, DDP, John Cena, CM Punk Roddy Piper Team 2) Samoa Joe, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose - Pretty even match here again. I think Cena overcomes the odds, and Piper hangs along for the ride. Match 4: Team 1) Batista, Chris Benoit, Scott Steiner, Mr Perfect Kane Team 2) Vince, Shane, Edge, Rick Rude, Chris Jericho - Vince gets eliminated early by getting pinned, and none of his teammates bothering to save him. Shane takes one of his insane once every few years bumps, by getting knocked off the top of a ladder that is under the ring for some reason, and going through the announce table. Kane hits Jericho in the face with a cup of hot coffee, and pins him. Perfect and Rude both get pinned off a back suplex spot. Edge goes on a run, eliminating Benoit and then Kane, but falls victim to the Batista Bomb and then a Steiner Recliner. Batista and Steiner end up the survivors, and do a big pose down after the match. Match 5: Team 1) Sid Justice, Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy, Ken Shamrock, Mick Foley Team 2) Booker T, Lex Luger, Kevin Owens, Bray Wyatt, Daniel Bryan - Team 1 has a bit more star power here. I think Foley, Hardy, and Mysterio are your winners. Match 6 (when one member is eliminated the whole team is out Team 1) Legiom of Doom, Steiners, Hart Foundation (Bret and the Anvil), Hardy Boyz, Edge and Christian Team 2) New Age Outlaws, Demolition, Harlem Heat, Team 3D/Dudleyz, Powea kid Pain This is a tough one to call. Powers of Pain are the weak link, and I think they would set up a chain of eliminations, after Warlord makes a stupid mistake and gets knocked out and counted out. I could see all of Team 1 surviving this one. Match 7) Team 1) Orient Express, Power and Glory, APA, the Rockers, Money Inc Team 2) British Bulldogs, Bludgeon Brothers, Nasty Boys, Beer Money, Strike Force (Santana and Martell) I think Team 2 would work together better here. The Bulldogs end up the only surviving team. Fun exercise!
  15. The problem is this team isn’t a cheap rental bat away from being a legitimate World Seties contender. I just shutter to think of going into the playoffs with Chacin as our best starting pitcher. I agree, this Brewers team is loaded with quality bats (though sometimes they are inconsistent). We need a starting pitching upgrade to have any real hope of advancing in the playoffs.
  16. He has, which is why they called him up to begin with.
  17. I need to watch Rebels. Maybe I can get our older son to watch it. Tried watching the original trilogy with him about a year ago, and he really didn't get into it. Darn kids.
  18. Side question: Were any of you as surprised by the return of a certain villain near the end of "Solo?" I definitely was not expecting that, even though, IIRC, this villain had come back in the stuff that is no longer considered canon.
  19. I'm excited to see what Miller can do for us at the MLB level. I think he could be yet another Stearns gem of a find.
  20. I loved Solo, but I guess maybe I'm in the minority. Given a lot of the negativity I had heard about the movie, I was expecting it to be closer to the prequel trilogy in terms of storyline quality. I wouldn't say it was as good as Rogue One, but I thought it was still a very good Star Wars movie.
  21. The Brewers are in first place. Why do we need to get extra creative with the team defense right now?
  22. Something tells me that if Ryan Braun couldn't handle playing 3B when he was 23 years old, he probably can't handle 2B at age 34.
