  1. I'm really not sure if this is a good or bad move for Kansas City. I know the term "going for it" gets way overused in baseball, but at some point, that's basically what teams have to do. I do think they maybe gave up a bit more than they should have, but their minor league system is so loaded right now that does it really matter?
  2. Apparently Jake Odorizzi is going to the Rays as well.
  3. Well, if a player wants to win a World Series in the near future, the Dodgers look to be as good a team as any to accomplish that goal.
  4. I know there was talk of him signing with the Blue Jays, but that seems to have really quieted down.
  5. I think most people were pretty realistic once we hit mid-season and he hadn't been re-signed yet. I didn't hear from many fans claiming we could re-sign him this winter either.
  6. Supposedly he already turned down a 2 year/$25 million deal from the Red Sox. I see no way he ends up in Milwaukee at this point.
  7. When I was in Vegas a few months back, an atm fee alone was like six bucks, so who knows what other crazy stuff people are used to there.
  8. Not a bad deal, though there are the obvious injury question marks. Acquiring a pitcher through free agency is looking very unrealistic for the Brewers at this point.
  9. I'm pretty sure the last time he pitched against Milwaukee he was interviewed and didn't sound bitter or anything. Players understand sometimes decisions are made for business reasons and it isn't personal.
  10. The more I think about it, I think you have to deal Hart now (assuming you can get a fairly decent return). If the team is as strapped for cash like they claim to be (and signs this winter seem to indicate that is the case), re-signing Hart doesn't make sense. The Brewers have to get into the "younger and cheaper" mode. Dealing Hart for salary relief at least gives them flexibility to make a trade mid-season too if the team is contending.
  11. Not that newsworthy, but Tom Haudricourt gave the city a pretty good razzing regarding the stadium on Twitter this afternoon.
  12. I don't see how Twins fans can get that upset about this. This looks like a pretty solid trade. Very different from the Marlins' latest fire sale.
  13. He's signed for one more year with another option year. Maybe one OK-ish prospect gets it done?
  14. It would probably have to be a lot. Like you noted, he's signed to a long term deal and only 25 right now. We'd probably have to give up something like Fiers/Gamel/and maybe another pitching prospect.
  15. Is it possible he had some sort of falling out with Barry Alvarez? I can't believe he couldn't have come back and said "Hey, I got this offer from Arkansas, can you match it?" and Barry wouldn't have if something wasn't going on.
  16. Yeah, FSN Wisconsin gets advertisers like J&L Tire and Robert Haack Diamonds (not knocking them, but they are what they are) while teams in other markets have huge companies like Taco Bell doing local spots. The disparity in potential ad revenue is huge.
  17. Subway is usually pretty good about rehiring former employees.
  18. I kind of like that one. I don't mind the mix of the new and old logos at all.
  19. Regarding Corey Hart, I think it was Jim Bowden who had a piece yesterday speculating that Melvin might shop Hart around once Hamilton and others are off the market. It might be a good strategy. Part of me would hate to see him dealt, but I think he could also bring a pretty decent haul in return.
  20. I agree this is a stupid move. Typical of the Mets, really.
  21. I would "dumb down" the resume if I were you. Also, do you know anyone in the Madison area you can network through? I know it's cliche, but more than ever "it's not what you know but who you know."
  22. There really doesn't seem to be much chatter about the team at all yet. Melvin tends to play things close to the vest though.
  23. I could be wrong, but isn't this series still going? Or maybe it's a similar show under a new name.
  24. A couple of those look like they could be OK with some tweaks. I agree with the earlier comments that I wouldn't want to see anything that gives any nod to the Braves.
  25. Baseball-wise, I actually don't think this trade is horrible from the Marlins standpoint. It's just such a slap in the face to the Miami taxpayers to shed that much payroll after they bankrolled that new stadium. Selig needs to force Loria to sell the team and get an ownership group with some integrity in there.
