  1. The nice thing about Fort is that it's roughly halfway between Madison and Milwaukee. I would say Fort has a lot more to do than Whitewater (though they do have a small but decent movie theater there). Janesville is also a short drive away.
  2. Fun fact: Ryan Braun was eligible to play for Team Israel. Kind of glad he's sticking with Team USA, though.
  3. I voted for the one with the barrelman patch. I agree that these choices were fairly conservative...I liked some of the more unique and outlandish ones people posted in this thread.
  4. I did use "not motivated" as a sort of joke on Melvin, even though I think that's the truth this time.
  5. *cough* Fort Atkinson is a great town. *cough*
  6. I've like using ESPN in the past, FWIW.
  7. Born in Milwaukee, but moved to California when he was very young.
  8. Also, can we make this post appear on the other forums so it gets more notice on the board? Thanks.
  9. Good point on the holidays, hawing. I would say the 16th and the 30th should be out for sure.
  10. With Packers season now sadly over, and thoughts turning to Maryvale and Spring Training, it's time to start talking about this year's Brewerfan.net Winter Meetings. We've had it the past two years in the Madison area, so in fairness, we're going to look at the Milwaukee area this year. We typically pick a Saturday night in March. Let's get some chatter going and figure out what we would like to do this year, and pick a date. I am happy to make any "reservations" if needed. Last year we had the manager of a venue in Madison volunteer a space, and we'd welcome similar suggestions again. If you haven't been to the Brewerfan.net Winter Meetings before: Despite the formal name of the event, it's just an excuse to get together, have some drinks and food, and talk about the upcoming Brewers season. All are welcome to attend (except Cubs and Cardinals fans).
  11. I can't tell if you were mocking me or just making a joke.
  12. At this point I really don't think Melvin is motivated to deal Hart. We're going to go into the season with him and hope to be competitive. He could get traded at the deadline if the team is in the tank, but I don't expect to see him traded before then.
  13. At this point I think you have to vote in anyone worthy from a statistical standpoint if they haven't been banned by MLB. I think that's the only fair and evenhanded way to do it. That means that yes, I would vote for Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens even though I think both of them cheated and I dislike them as people.
  14. Maybe this isn't much for advice, but if I only owed $4300 on our mortgage, I would sell stuff or anything else to raise that money in a short period. Clearing up that mortgage will help you a lot. I'd try to avoid student loans if at all possible.
  15. I expect the vague rumors about Mark Attanasio to start heating up again, though I doubt it will happen.
  16. From what I understand, the funeral business has a big problem with people either not paying or paying extremely late. I know that doesn't help, but maybe this particular director just got shorted one too on many times. Anyway, hope things work out.
  17. I got one for Christmas. It's good for what it is...I just wanted a basic laptop to use in the kitchen and living room, as I was missing having a somewhat portable device with a keyboard (I got tired of my Playbook tablet a while ago). It's very light, has a pretty decent display, and a good keyboard. It's also very quick...boot time and internet connection time are virtually nonexistent. That said, you won't be able to do stuff like install Windows based programs, etc. but you probably already know that. I guess my summary is that I like it, but I wouldn't get it to serve as a primary laptop/computer.
  18. I only rarely listen to 1070. From what I've heard, the local talk programming they offer hasn't sounded too compelling. I really doubt this makes a dent in 540 or 1250's ratings.
  19. Adam, very sorry to hear about your loss. As far as the house and any debts, the best advice is not to make any rash decisions. Eventually you'll probably want to meet with an estate attorney or someone along those lines to help you sort through that part of it.
  20. I got really sick yesterday. The band I'm in was supposed to play a gig last night, which we ended up having to cancel. I have stayed pretty healthy this winter so it's sort of an extra kick in the pants that I finally got sick yesterday. Such is life, though.
  21. Yeah, that's exactly what I was getting at. Anyway, I don't want to derail the thread, so we can leave that point at that for now. Some people on Twitter mentioned they liked seeing some mascots on certain hats (Mr. Met, etc). I wonder if the Brewers will ever try putting Bernie on an alternate hat or patch.
  22. The Braves' logo is not a total caricature, too? Again, sorry if this is drifting toward political territory. I would not say it is a caricature.
  23. I guess I don't get what's so bad about the Braves' logo. It's not a total caricature like Chief Wahoo. Would people like it more if the logo wasn't screaming?
  24. Reggie White, and that's basically it.
