  1. ...but the fan vote only counted as ONE vote out of 8 votes... In reality, the fans did not truly get to pick the winning design OK, I didn't realize that. I still don't think this is a big identity crisis. In reality, having as many jerseys as possible for the team to sell is a good thing. More merchandising opportunities equals more revenue.
  2. I think doing it at Friday's could be a great idea. I'll try to investigate further.
  3. Well, to be fair it was based on a fan vote.
  4. In what I would call an upset, the beer barrel man jersey won. I'm very surprised. I don't think it's a bad design but I'm not wowed by it either.
  5. Let me know. I have not called anywhere yet...was very sick for most of the week (sinus infection).
  6. Lawrie may turn out to be an All-Star yet, but without Marcum this team may well have not made the NLCS in 2011. There are always trade offs, but I wouldn't give up those memories for anything.
  7. I think one factor might be that the players really liked the gold unis when they've used them in the past too. I know a lot of people want to see more of the retro uniforms, but the players really don't like them (at least according to some supposedly in the know).
  8. I wouldn't have minded the Brewers bringing him back on a one year deal. I wonder what the salary ends up being.
  9. Third former Brewer to go to Japan this year.
  10. Anyone interested in starting up a league this year (or have an opening in an existing one)? I sat out last season (was just way too busy), but have the itch to get back in. Would prefer something that doesn't require day-to-day lineup setting.
  11. Yes, he's a free agent. Not sure if the Brewers would have interest or not.
  12. Yeah, that's an idea that's been batted around for some time, since Wrigley is going to inevitably need a massive renovation soon. Still interesting that the Cubs did reach out to the Brewers about it, though.
  13. For me, I would say it's a fair contract, but calling it a bargain is a stretch. If Axford starts off the season well but the team is tanking mid-season, I'd be more than willing to see Melvin shop him around. We've seen how quickly closers can fall apart, but also how much they can be overvalued.
  14. I think I will try making a contact to the Ale House on Monday. Does anyone have a particular preference on which date would work? I was thinking either March 2nd or 9th, but let me know (obviously availability there may be a factor too).
  15. I might look into this unless others have different ideas.
  16. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/earl-weaver-dead-82-article-1.1243096 He passed away last night at the age of 82. Even though I was too young to really remember Weaver's hayday, the man was a legendary manager. RIP.
  17. Good to hear. Hopefully he's more like the 2011 Axford than the 2012 version.
  18. I'll chime in as a father of a 15 month old. I agree with others that "it's not about you", but you still need to find time. One thing that helps my wife and I a lot is we try to do a once a week "date night". When he was a newborn, this was pretty much impossible, but after a few months, it's doable. It requires finding a good network of baby sitters, etc. Sometimes this is easier said than done, but we've found a lot of good people to rely on.
  19. Yeah, I saw that earlier. Not against the Brewers making more money, but that outfield is getting pretty cluttered up.
  20. Years ago I had an interview with Generac, which I thought went great. Was kind of excited about it at the time...then got a form email the next night saying they went with someone else. I know that's not directly related to your question, but that's been my experience with them. I would just keep calling each day if you're really interested in it.
  21. Yeah, I read that earlier. I can't really fault his pessimism about this Brewers team though, particularly the starting rotation.
  22. Anyone else have thoughts opinions on doing this again this year? Kind of quiet in this thread so far.
  23. Yeah, I was commenting on this yesterday. That bobble looks awesome and actually looks like Aoki. Hopefully the real gameday ones come close. It's a shame how badly the quality of the bobbles has slipped over the past few years.
  24. I stand by my statements on Twitter that this whole thing was contrived by the sports media to generate new internet memes. At least that's the way it feels.
  25. Yeah, that is cool, though the price is a bit steep now at $28.00...plus I'm not sure how much longer Jennings is going to be a Buck. Still neat, though. I agree the Brewers should rip off that design. ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=30499
